Thanks for the video, I live in Bishop and have been fishing North Lake for over 40 years. My favorite spot is near the outlet where the deep water meets the shallow area. I generally use black matukas and green wooley buggers with a bubble and fly rig with a four foot long 4lb test leader attached to 6lb green camo line on the spool. I once caught over 80 trout, both rainbows and browns (catch & release), in a three hour period fishing at that spot. I have also float tubed in the lake many times sometimes catching 4 and 5 pounders with a bubble and fly rig and with a fly rod.
Caught about 25 in a hour and a half at that 1st family spot. Best fishing of my life. Never seen that many fish attacking bait. Or just seeing fish. You look down in the water and see 20 just swimming around. No time to waste, throw your line in and it’s getting hit instantly. Awesome lake. Never had a fishing day like that down here in the IE.
We have had some great days there. Great info for anyone wanting to fish North Lake!
Heck yeah. That lake has always done us right
Awesome video great tips!
Went there last weekend and the skeeters lit me up.
Thanks heading up for fishmas
Thanks man, your videos make a difference in my reintroduction to fishing. I'm heading up 395 to backpack Big Pine lakes with a friend again and trying to brush up on good spots to hit before and after. I've Fished MFBC a bunch for fun but Never the lakes up there. If you make another video of a 20 mile radius around Bishop before Oct 13, I'd love to watch it. Thanks again.
We have more on the way! Thanks for tuning in.
Amazing as usual Andrew! Thank you so much for helping us novice fisherman brother. You have no idea how much I appreciate you. Is North Lake open to fish year round?
It's open till Nov 15! Bishop Creek is open year round. Appreciate the comment glad that channel is helping you guys out!
get a thermacel !!!!!!!!!!! Alaskan here , only thing i use for mosquitoes.. look it up. no need for bug dope or anything
You forgot to mention that one of the screen savers on Mac computers was shot from North lake!
What flys would you suggest and thanks for all your information it's very helpful and has made our fishing experiences more injoyable. 🎣👍👍👍
Appreciate the comment I've had a lot of luck with the following flies:
-Olive or black wooly buggers with a gold bead head
-Olive matukas with the redhead
-Black gnat with a red head
I've killed it there w/an Egg Pattern or especially on a Copper John w/a tiny Zebra Midge dropper.
Huge trout love tiny nymphs!
thanks for the heads up brother, how cold is the water in oct/nov?
also will the mosquitos be super bed then too? lol
Mosquitos are gone by late September. Water will be in the 40s
When are you retiring to fish for a living?
I could probably do it now but the wife wouldn't approve of it 😂
