Great Job Danno! Where's the yellow rope! Just kidding! Those fish sure fight in that fast water... don't let people hate on the three weight! Those syndicate rods have a lot a backbone, probably more than most noodle rods. You brought them quickly and handled them properly... allowing them to swim another day. Its amazing that those fish travel miles upon miles a day but are "unnecessarily stressed" by someone catching them. Do fish feel pain? People sure make it sound like they do!
Ray Zendell hey Ray thanks for the comment. I feel the same as you. They are tough fish for sure! A short fight with a 3 weight is nothing like what they have to go through to swim upstream! Thanks for watching!
Looks like you guys are on the Cat? Water looks nice. A friend and I were just on Elk Creek this past weekend and water conditions were horrible no flow and gin clear. All fish in pools could not even get a decent drift.
Dan, I think it would be best to not advise other people to use such light outfits on steelhead. Using 10 or 11 foot 3 and four weight rods are a real stretch on them. Someone like you who knows how to play a fish is one thing, but saying it's ok to others isn't good by any means. That fish at 7:20 shouldn't have taken you anywhere near your backing and should have bolted off when released. I highly doubt that fish did not die of exhaustion shortly afterwards. The majority of steelhead are already overplayed on the proper outfits. As always, great video, but please encourage proper fishing techniques.
William Joseph confluence chest pack. Unfortunately they don't make it anymore. Might be able to find it on ebay. Upqua makes some good chest packs too.

Cool video. Haven't had time to go after steelies yet. Hopefully soon.
Thanks! Hope you can get out soon. Its raining in Erie now so the fishing should be better!
Great video, I've contemplated using my 10' 3wt for steelhead as well. I've heard the 11' has a bit more backbone. What are your thoughts?
Yea that 11 footer has some backbone for sure! My friend catches them on his 10 foot 3 weight no problem. Good luck!
