    Little role reversal - Elk Skins tell'n the boss to "shut-up"! Laughed through the whole segment. Between Elk Skins' "smooth" acting style and Taryl's sarcasm and quick wit these videos are great. Of course, learned a lot but, hell, prefer to be entertained while learning. Otherwise I'd call this work.

    @Spinonemaster 3 роки тому

    I learned this technique from a top mechanic 50 years ago ... works great on rusted/seized bots ... and MAP gas works well on a propane torch ... it "shocks" the metal as cold water quickly cools the metal via expansion/contraction

    I used to have to replace those shear pins on a 102" snow blower and we would always groove/cut/notch them with a grinder in 2 spots were the shaft would line up. That way they would shear quicker and wouldn't damage anything.

    Taryl - The outside row of tines on a rotary tiller are designed to be reversed by swapping position end-for-end. The initial position shown (ends point OUTWARD) allows the tiller to work up a wider swath of ground per pass of the machine. This configuration is used to break up the soil before planting. Reverse the tine position (ends point INWARD) to permit continued use of the tiller after planting to reduce the likelihood the tines will catch and damage your garden plants.

  • @RedneckDeluxe

    I remember as a young pinky grass rat, my dad's Crapsman rear tine garden scratcher had a tire that need a tube on it. Now, I had been mechanicing my whole life and at this point I had slightly more abilities than young Billy, who's grandfather frequents your shop.
    After trying most of the day to beat the wheel of the axle the matter was forgotten and that scratcher's tire would constantly need air during the next 20 years of gardening.
    About 10 years ago, right after my old man died, I went and fired up the Crapsman went to scratching only to realize it no longer scratched.
    There it has sat, unable to part with it and certainly lacking the skill to fix it. That is until today's UA-cam. I'll be getting a fresh tank of O² tomorrow and paying collector's level pricing for some new tines but I dare not argue with fate.

    I dunno about a Propane torch, but what about Map gas? They get a lot hotter. I wonder if you could use one of those for the people who cant afford an oxy-acetalyne torch or wouldn't need one often. A map gas torch and cylinder is about $60 bucks.

  • @RogerRozellCharbonneau

    Garden Scratchers. Good topic. Where can a person find a double shaft 3-1/2 hp or 5 hp to replace the engines on the Troybilt with reverse scratchers? Is there a work around for these units? The extra shaft is for reverse and seem to be scarce.

  • @tnekkc
    @tnekkc 3 роки тому

    I bought a 3 hp Merrytiller in 1979 and used it a lot. The pins beat up the tine shaft and flared it into the pin hole on the shaft. Pull the pin but the tine will still not come off.

  • @SSJIndy
    @SSJIndy 3 роки тому
