We want to see more Ronnie Jurgenstein commercials!!! Like "Ronnie's Used Mowers and More". That was some of the funniest stuff ever. Some new Blade Man and Throttle episodes would be awesome too.
Little role reversal - Elk Skins tell'n the boss to "shut-up"! Laughed through the whole segment. Between Elk Skins' "smooth" acting style and Taryl's sarcasm and quick wit these videos are great. Of course, learned a lot but, hell, prefer to be entertained while learning. Otherwise I'd call this work.
It's nice to see elk boy working side by side with his new adopted pappy , Dr. Taryl!!! You need to start treating your boy a little better, if your going to need your boy to scrub your under britches when you get old pappy!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Taryl, you and Steve, from Steve's Small Engine Salloon, are both currently working on an old rototiller. I think you guys need to get together for comments on either one or the others channel. Many of us are fans of you both. Just sayin'.
Theres boat loads of tricks and ingenuity, some we’ve forgotten, I’ve recently seen anther YT channel repairing trucks in Pakistan these guys rebuild everything. With YT we get to see guys doing all sorts of things us guys who’d rather watch repair videos rather than real TV get to remember what it was like before you had instant access to parts and information.
AMAZING channel. The stuff they do.. Utterly illegal/dangerous/polluting over here, but they work HARD and know there own tools better then we Westerners. Also, seeing a 65+ year old banging in red-hot rivets is inspiring as heck.
i used to be so skeptical about the quench method but i have seen it work many times for you...i usually heated it cherry red then got it to spin but your way seems to be easier
sounds like a great family! absolutely excellent names elk skins lol edit: i feel like ive seen you use that trick so many times.. im gonna try that on alignments now, so tired of rusty stuff here in the north, we heat them up but dont spray it with water, im gonna start doing that now
I learned this technique from a top mechanic 50 years ago ... works great on rusted/seized bots ... and MAP gas works well on a propane torch ... it "shocks" the metal as cold water quickly cools the metal via expansion/contraction
That was sure a good demonstration of the heat and quench technique!!!! Hey, have you ever worked on a hit and miss engine??? I know you seen 'em at Portland!
I used to have to replace those shear pins on a 102" snow blower and we would always groove/cut/notch them with a grinder in 2 spots were the shaft would line up. That way they would shear quicker and wouldn't damage anything.
Taryl - The outside row of tines on a rotary tiller are designed to be reversed by swapping position end-for-end. The initial position shown (ends point OUTWARD) allows the tiller to work up a wider swath of ground per pass of the machine. This configuration is used to break up the soil before planting. Reverse the tine position (ends point INWARD) to permit continued use of the tiller after planting to reduce the likelihood the tines will catch and damage your garden plants.
Weird...whenever I work on my lawn equipment, I am beginning to also hear those falsetto voices from the negative keyboard warriors telling me I am "doing it all wrong"...I just ignore those little gremlins and do it Taryl's way anyhow...🙂
My daddy has a garden-scracer named Hako. Three spades each side (so fare I know). Gas engine on it was always hard to start. He swamped it, did bigger chassi works and put on a Wacker diesel. Still running an in use. Some times got trouble with broken chain.
And they never talk about Mike Hunt anymore either. Has anyone seen him ?? Actually that only works if a girl announces loudly over a PA system asking if anyone has seen him....
I remember as a young pinky grass rat, my dad's Crapsman rear tine garden scratcher had a tire that need a tube on it. Now, I had been mechanicing my whole life and at this point I had slightly more abilities than young Billy, who's grandfather frequents your shop. After trying most of the day to beat the wheel of the axle the matter was forgotten and that scratcher's tire would constantly need air during the next 20 years of gardening. About 10 years ago, right after my old man died, I went and fired up the Crapsman went to scratching only to realize it no longer scratched. There it has sat, unable to part with it and certainly lacking the skill to fix it. That is until today's UA-cam. I'll be getting a fresh tank of O² tomorrow and paying collector's level pricing for some new tines but I dare not argue with fate.
I dunno about a Propane torch, but what about Map gas? They get a lot hotter. I wonder if you could use one of those for the people who cant afford an oxy-acetalyne torch or wouldn't need one often. A map gas torch and cylinder is about $60 bucks.
The oxy-acetalyne torch I got was a great investment. Thanks again for first showing this trick years back. I have removed many a rusted parts since than. 😡🤒
Garden Scratchers. Good topic. Where can a person find a double shaft 3-1/2 hp or 5 hp to replace the engines on the Troybilt with reverse scratchers? Is there a work around for these units? The extra shaft is for reverse and seem to be scarce.
I bought a 3 hp Merrytiller in 1979 and used it a lot. The pins beat up the tine shaft and flared it into the pin hole on the shaft. Pull the pin but the tine will still not come off.
My old Parmi tiller had the inner face of the tine hubs bunged up a bit and worked down into the shaft hole, which is what kept them from slipping off.
if you cut the ring end off of the wire bottle brush and stick it in an electric drill it will clean out the inside of those tines real good. Plumber taught me that to clean copper pipe before soldering fittings

Taryl and elkskins has great chemistry together..very intertaining...
By far the best channel on you tube
I SECOND that there notion!
Ive never been a fan of heating parts but you are the heat/quench guru.
Great trick fellas! Enjoyed the heck out of this vid!
Good to see there is fun in the shop.
I seen a old guy get the pins out but the blade wouldn’t come off so he just tilled up his garden until they came loose
🤔 if the shoe fits... 👍
I've tried for two years to get the wheels off my troy bilt jr with this method... maybe I need to try the heat method
He did it that way because he didn't watch Taryl .
Not only is he a mechanical genius, but Mr. Dactyl is a natural born performer....The man has a TON of talent.
He is very funny AND entertaining for sure! What a great channel♥
I learn a lot watching you Taryl. Thanks for making cool videos to watch!
Loved your Jack Nickelson impression!!!!
For years I have been busting off bleeder screws on calipers, BUT yesterday I used your way. Yes it worked thumbs up Taryl!!!!
A face only a mother could love thanks so much for the help,, it worked
Elk Skins is fast becoming the star 🌟 of Taryl Fixes All !! Got to meet him at the shop last fall, pretty cool dude!
This made me smile :) Well done fellas!
I cut a slice, in a piece of dowel, deep enough to hold sandpaper, then wrap paper, over folded in slice. Homemade drum sander!
Good job you guys work well together
Another awesome video guys. Keep em coming and fire it up!
I love the bloopers to.
Used this trick for years. Works extremely well..

Fantastic shout-out for Mick's Mowers - hope to see Elk Skins on MIck's live stream on Saturdays
Neat old tiller! I have a Ariens tiller from the 70s.

I laughed uncontrollably when Taryl said, "SLEAZE IT UP! SLEAZE IT UP! SLEAZE IT UP!"
we used to call it anti sleaze at our shop..."where's the sleaze?" was a common phrase

Always fun watching the shinanigans.

Glad to see more Elk Skins in videos. He kills me.
Elk skin should be in Hollywood acting in some sitcom.
He's naturally a funny person, similar to Earl's brother in the TV show "my name is Earl" .....
Elkskins seems to make for a great shop buddy ! Need a bobble head elkskins ,that says fire it up, fire it up ,!
Great video! Good to see Elk Skins.
i used to be so skeptical about the quench method but i have seen it work many times for you...i usually heated it cherry red then got it to spin but your way seems to be easier
Made me laugh so hard when you said, "End Seen". Your videos are better than any tv out there
These guys make learning fun♥
You guys make me laugh. I needed this haha 👍 I love the skins family legacy

Elk kins needs a raise...he's does the work...
Elskin is now my fav cheers from Montreal,Québec man!:)
my teacher when i was in auto tech school called it the thermal shock technique. makes it sound all sciencey and stuff.
I learned this technique from a top mechanic 50 years ago ... works great on rusted/seized bots ... and MAP gas works well on a propane torch ... it "shocks" the metal as cold water quickly cools the metal via expansion/contraction
Best straight man ever that Elk Skins. 🤪
That was sure a good demonstration of the heat and quench technique!!!! Hey, have you ever worked on a hit and miss engine??? I know you seen 'em at Portland!

A brake cylinder hone would work well for cleaning up the insides of the blade tubes.
? what do you think of the eco gas post hole digger and how do you change out the throttle cable on 1 would like to hear your thought on that brand
Nice trick dude, so cool!
Elk Skins delivers his acting lines with the aplumb of an Orson Wells. A real thespian!
No, no. He's straight.
The metallurgy people are Taryl's most favorite to make fun of, they make it EZ. I like that preditor MOTOR!

Perfect timing.... I need to free up the tines on my tiller. ( Late 70's Jcpenney's 8hp). They stuck in the narrow position.
Hey Terlyl what about the seal on the inner tine?? Did it melt??
its like a commercial for PB blaster.... that stuff works great...
Elk Skin hype!!
Good job
The shades rock
Thank you.
Weird...whenever I work on my lawn equipment, I am beginning to also hear those falsetto voices from the negative keyboard warriors telling me I am "doing it all wrong"...I just ignore those little gremlins and do it Taryl's way anyhow...🙂
LOL! That falsetto voice Taryl does cracks me up every time.

Great vlog 👍👍👍
Good video
Clever repower.
Good video👍😎
Dang, look at Elk Skins gettin' all uppity!
Just great! Is mapp gas close to hot enough?
I love the celebrations when something goes right, "Woooooooo Woooooo Wooooooo!"
top stuff Taryl mate us Australian.s those most common ones who have decent sense and as for me yep top notch for sure stay safe in your area.
I shouted you guys out over on Instagram, used your cheap solenoid replacement trick on a Honda. Thank you. 👍
No one ever talks about Elk Skins' brother, Fore.
He was circumcised from the family.
He's too cheesy for this channel.
How much can a mower mechanic make in Podunk? It's getting too hot here in the desert, I need a new job!
@@sal_e._mander5151 Ew, smegma! 🤢
All the nice girls say “hold the mayo!”
And they never talk about Mike Hunt anymore either. Has anyone seen him ?? Actually that only works if a girl announces loudly over a PA system asking if anyone has seen him....
Plumbers Emory tape good for cleaning shafts and other items
Yes, have someone run the tiller while sanding the shafts.
Always keep a roll in the tool box.....the open grit works best...

How do you like the way that PB blaster smells one that hot gets on it do you know when it’s smokes

Pro Tip: If you don't have an acetylene torch you can use a Zippo lighter, it just takes a little longer..
Lol
I was thinking bbq or fire pit .
@@davidwhite4474 lol
Should i wear abestos gloves incase i fall asleep waiting
I like that the guard is still on the grinder.
Must be a Steve Lav fan.

@@Shitass639 Hey landon
You guys please do a video on adjusting the simplicity shuttle drive transmission?
great vid super info
Nice tiller! Shame the old engine pooped out. Good fun👍
The oxy-acetalyne torch I got was a great investment. Thanks again for first showing this trick years back. I have removed many a rusted parts since than. 😡🤒
Me personally I would still check the seals on the machine and replace them with new seals since the tines were removed from the tiller

"Don't I look like Jack Nicholson?" Elk Skins "who?" LOL
Love Elk skins, what a great addition to the shop. Need to get him a sweet mini bike to restore and upgrade on the show with you.
what about the seals & bearings, did you cook them as well?, my roto scraper has a seal on each side of the gear box
When will the Elkskins tuxedos and sports jackets be available? As for "Shaft".....We can dig it.
Elk skins rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you cut the ring end off of the wire bottle brush and stick it in an electric drill it will clean out the inside of those tines real good. Plumber taught me that to clean copper pipe before soldering fittings
Ive got one of those 400,000btu flameweeders. I wonder if that will work. I had to drill the pins out...Tines still stuck..
Thanks🦖🦖🦖
The Cubans have great talents. I seen a Lada from the 80’s stretched out and made into a limo. They call it an Extension Lada.
HEAT IT UP! HEAT IT UP! Elkskins missed his line Ha Ha!
I had seen people use freon in my time ,not even using heat. Also freon if you have broken water shutoff valve you have to replace.
PBJ blaster!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂. Fire it up! Fire it up!!! Fire it up!!!!
