- The Flow 556k from Huxwrx is likely the first commercially successful flow through can. Flow technology has the potential to completely revamp what we think about suppressors. But at what cost?

Literally just got back from ordering a Flow 556k from the local store and came home to find this video uploaded. I'm taking it as a sign that I did something right.
I made it for you
I just purchased one today too. $950 + free tax stamp. (kinda wishing I went with RC2 for night time use.)
Isn't the rc2 an absolute flamethrower at night?
@@turdferguson2863 rc3 yes. RC2 is better. Also, I got the OSSS hxdq 556; not the Flow556 which is lighter and better sound reduction
@turdferguson2863 the rc2 is without a doubt the king of flash mitigation. Nothing else comes close at the moment. The rc3 may be what you're thinking of.
I’ll probably never own a can in my life, but I’ll still watch every minute of this video
The wait time 100% ruins the chance of me ever owning a factory can.
don't let your dreams be dreams
@KimballLeatherCo. Your going to look back in a year at this comment and say I could of had my can by now 😂. The wait for first one is a struggle but it gets easier.

Got mine for 400. Totally worth it to my hearing
Just picked up my flow 556k last week! Approval took 96 days!
Congrats and fuck you. Mine took 325 haha
Damn boi, mine took 18 months
wtf mine took like 10 months haha
87 days for mine. Picked up an hour ago!
@@lambchop6210that's a new world record!
I work for one of the OEMs making these, so it makes me proud! Watching these be 3D printed, 25 at a time is quite the sight!
That’s cool. My brother works at a high end 3d printing facility.
Dude what printer is used and what type of Inconel??? (: id love to know
Oh to be loved like your dog loves you!
Looks like it goes both ways 😊 that's a special pup right there
Nothing like playing sudoku with my suppressor. A good quiet math puzzle with friends to warm up the noggin.
I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully, that was intentional.
@@salwurstman6879it’s a play off of “seppuku”. It gets memed into “sudoku” or even “crossword puzzle” in certain spheres. IYKYK.
It's an internet meme/reference, where you change the name for the Japanese ritual self offing with sudoku (using the actual word send my comment to the shadow realm).
How would you find this channel if you don’t have the internet awareness to know the “sudoku” meme?
And how does this stupid comment have 53 likes?

Gas to the face? *Laughs in gas piston*
From the time I got more serious about firearms in 2020, I wanted a HUXWRX can, but when SilencerCo released the Velos LBP, I bought that instead because I didn't want a proprietary muzzle device. I swapped on a different hub adaptor to my Velos and run Plan B mounts on every muzzle I can. I love it, and I'll probably get the 7.62 Velos later on when they offer a deal. It barely changes my gassing, has almost no flash even under nods, and doesn't make my ears hurt on anything 18" or longer.
Good to hear a good review of the velos. Still waiting on mine to get approved. Gun laws are gay.
Wisdom
@@jasonmorris159 it's been fantastic, but I also don't have a full sized traditional can to compare it. Cans are pretty popular in my shooting group, and some of the more traditional cans are definitely a bit quieter.
My local FFL suggested the Velos as well. I have only heard good things about it. Thanks for sharing your opinion.
my flow 556k on a 13.9 has virtually zero recoil. Use standard buffer tube, h3 buffer, springco white/red. Its awesome. I think the less fowling and maintaince side for a gun is a good consideration for a "WROL" gun.
What barrel & gas port size?
Ever tried the A5 system?
@@EdwardSnortin Got one on the way for my AR-10 whenever it comes off backorder at Brownells. First range trip with the can on it and it was absolutely blasting my shoulder. Like, to the extent that after putting 60+ rounds downrange I had a pretty nice bruise on my shoulder the next day. Pulled the carbine buffer off and haven't touched it since, waiting on parts now.
There wasn’t much recoil to begin with, it’s just easier to take follow up shots because the blast and concussive forces are contained, the extra pound on the end of your gun is what reduces recoil
@@EdwardSnortinI have. It’s very nice in my rifle with this can, it has basically no recoil, and I get no gas back at all. The only thing that sucks with the rifle is I made it a bit on the heavy side(probably shouldn’t have slapped an lpvo and folding tube adapter on a rifle with a can and LAM)
Adorable Nova at the end just made my day.
Such an adorable couple, with an adorable dog!
Flow 556K is the most innovative can on the market ever. I’m 6 months into the wait on mine and I’ve already built a rifle specifically for it. From the very first time I used one at the range, I needed one immediately and went to give Hux my money. It’s a badass black magic can
Details on the rifle build if you don't mind
Great breakdown! These low backpressure style silencers have a ton of huge benefits for shooters; it's great to see them being put through their paces.
You should send our boy here an RC3.
I'd like to see flow-thrus compared to over-bored cans. A Wolfman (9mm bore) makes zero change on cycling on my AR. The adjustable block sits on the same setting with our without the can to get lockback.
Good info about cleaning the suppressor. Appreciate the awesome content, especially the night vision info!
Yall just get a room.
Underated channel, you guys have been putting out great content for a while now. Don't quit, this is definietly going to be a 1-mil sub channel!
Thanks for the good and honest review.
Thanks for the lunch break video 👌 I hate the atf
Great video guys!
Thanks for the video!
Always love the content
My first can was the Nomad L and for my intentions of shooting .300blk it has been perfect. I think cans will continue to fall into use cases like rifles and generally will continue to improve in features also like rifles. Cheers, Andrew
I have a few Huxwrk cans and like them a lot. Some of my observations: 1) The normal “flash hider” works as a weak break. You get a bit of that concussion near the muzzle like with a break and I think that is why it sounds a bit louder. 2) beware of “hot swapping” a hot suppressor onto a cold gun. I generally have no issue with it locking up on a hot barrel but if you take that hot suppressor and screw it onto a cold barrel it’s not coming off unless you wrench it off. 3) it’s the best suppressor I’ve ever used for gas back to the face, very pleasant to shoot. 3) It doesn’t seem to stabilize muzzle flip as much as a regular suppressor. I don’t have hard data on this but it just doesn’t seem to zero/smooth out muzzle movement like my traditional suppressors. 4) as mentioned in the video if you have multiple suppressors this is only going to fit the guns with the corresponding muzzle device, this is especially true for P&W rifles. 5) The Cobalt Kinetics muzzle device is the best overall device I’ve ever used. It’s a unique break/comp that has a very reasonable pressure profile. You’re neighbors standing next to you won’t hate you and it keeps the muzzle right on target with almost zero muzzle movement. 6) all-in-all a great suppressor. Thanks Brass Facts for the extra info, especially the night vision related performance.
Do you notice any difference in sound performance with the cobalt muzzle device vs the factory muzzle device?
@@DrFarinx Nothing that I’ve noticed over three range sessions with the CK device. It’s clear that the device works really well and my son, who hates every break/comp I’ve ever tried, actually likes it as a shooter and standing next to me. It still concusses but it’s like a uniform 360 force that is spread out. I’ve not tried it prone over top of a bunch of dust though…
So the CK HX-QD muzzle works with this suppressor in the vid or just the previous line?
@@RikkiTikkiTavi290 The 556 QD and 556 Flow use the same muzzle device so they both work with the 556 CK. You can also use the HUXWRX 762ti on the CK 556 muzzle device.
All in all, I love mine. It is a little sparky under NV but I have noticed it’s very ammo subjective.
My flow 556k was approved this week. Excited to try it
Thank you for validating my 2023 Black Friday Christmas gift to myself.
I find the biggest benefit is being able to setup your rifle exactly how you want it buffer spring/weight and ejection wise and then not having to change a thing when adding the suppressor. It's also so nice to shoot and have literally nothing coming back at you. All that said I prefer my direct thread YHM Turbo T2 at 12.7oz for the sound and weight, with no muzzle device I'm taking off 3.5 to 4.5 OZ vs a quick detach with muzzle device and man you can tell on the end of the gun. Mine also has a slight ring to it, not sure if its the prongs at the end or printing density or what.
140 day wait for my 2nd suppressor. Rugged 762 Razor. I love it. Got approved the day before a big 2-gun event. Love using it. It is gassy indoors but outside I didn't really notice it.
Also, some dude today posted a picture of his papers of a 2 day eform form 4 approval. Nuts.
This was my first can, I got it at the end of last October and it’s been pretty great. Through silencer shop I got the muzzle device included for free as well. It’s on a 16” spr style rifle and I experience reduced recoil and 0 gas blowback. Also, mine doesn’t ping.
The ringing sound is pretty annoying. Mine was bad at first. I emailed Hux and they said it's normal and fades with usage. This proved true, until it didn't. It stopped ringing for a while but now it's back to doing it. No cleaning, no changes of mounted gun, just started again. Other than that I absolutely love it. Makes shooting an untuned DI gun a non issue.
I love watching you guys! I have 4 suppressors with probably 50 rounds through one of them and never even shot the other three. I literally collect them as safe ornaments. I’m totally fk in the head. But I love putting my can on different guns and watching you guys in my living room. It’s the highlight of my week. Thanks.
Always happy when I see the Subscribestar notification pop up. Keep up the good work Brock.
Thanks for making this optional reading within the first two minutes. 😉
My first can was an OSS gen 5/6? Huge, heavy, built for abuse and it shows. Neat to see how theyve continued to improve this sort of technology and cut weight over time. The lack of gas to the face is the biggest boon to using this type of suppressor for me. Everything else is just varying degrees of benefits.
I was all set on getting this can. Now I am thinking about getting a Ventum 556 because of the hub compatibility and the servicable aspect of being able to remove the core from the outer sleeve. It is heavier by about 4 to 5 ounces, but I am willing to pay the trade off.
Snoozer pupper is best pupper.
I was considering the flow-throughs from Huxwurx, but I just want a better sound suppression, even with the gas-in-the-face issues.... mainly because I see no reasonable situation where I'm mag-dumping downrange.
Great video. I also got one and have been thoroughly enjoying it. I too have a sandman S and friggin hate using that big heavy bastard. The blast baffle is so badly eroded on the sandman that it’s sad. Been mainly shooting a polonium K and have a Sierra 5 pre and post op. Polonium k I think you’d thoroughly thoroughly enjoy for the money in place of your sandman. Anyway, just thought I’d “engage” lol thanks man
Excellent video on surpressors in general. Probably wont go through the trouble for the flow 556k.
Yayyy brass fracks Friday!!!!
I think the biggest question people have is "how well would a non-k flow 556 do?"
Yup. It's got outstanding performance for a K can, at a very modest weight, without introducing the usual annoyances of a suppressor. I'm wondering if making one that's 2" longer would gain enough performance to justify the weight... Hopefully without increasing backpressure
They didn't do a full size because there was little benefit for the additional length
I just picked up my HX-QD 556 can a couple weeks ago. The weight or length aren't terrible. It is still shorter than my 16 inch ar on my 11.5 sbr. The performance is excellent so far. Its my first can so I have no frame of reference but I like the idea of it being repairable
The flow K is repairable also @@alphalegionaire
A greater length would absolutely help. My Flow 762 has more length and more volume for gas to slow and cool down while in the can. I imagine the k part was for the contract parameters it was created under. They have a full size Flow 556 printed out of inconel for machine guns and I wonder how that performs if it only wasn't $1900 and ridiculously heavy
Picked up my first suppressor, a 5.56 Surefire RC2 yesterday. Put it on my DD M4A1 which of course has no adjustable gas block, is already gassy, plus shooting at an indoor range where the wall is < 12 inches from my head. Oh yeah, got that full gas to the face experience.
BRT easy tune gas tube and the RTV charging handle mod.
Only gas taming mods worth doing imo.
What John suggested but also I find just running a much heavier buffer helps a lot too. Longer the bolt is in battery, the more gas pressure flows out of the muzzle.
This is awesome context! Can you try out the sig low back pressure can?
Add a thin layer of Aeroshell on the thread and taper to make it easier to remove when warm or when it cools down.
I love your sponsor bits. crack me up
Lefty locky - Righty remove-y. I have a bunch of the area 419 hellfire adapters. I like the reverse threads.
Pewscience has done a great job of covering this stuff and explaining why flowthrough designs are advantageous. Now, as for the cans performance in my hands, it's great, it changed how I prefer to shoot. Paying a bit extra to have the can on my gun isn't a problem because shooting without the can sucks ass.
Suppressor covers are useful for convection and thermal mirage in a scope. Especially when shooting something like 300norma or 338lapua.
Like for pups
On my huxwrx cans I've been using a dry graphite spray on the interface and it seems to greatly reduce how much they stick after cooling .
I am at week 15 of the "90 day wait times" for my 556k Flow for my X95.
Awesome man I like your reviews you don’t cheap out on them Thank you what rig you got there?
depends, I wear a couple. It's probably the beez one if I had to guess?
Just got my first supressor, Omega 9K I love it shots few hundred rounds through it already
Nova's such a sweetie. He's a good dog.
8:02 ❤ and this is what it’s all about right here. These memories being made!😂
Look forward to you getting your hands on an RC3 (not with a closed tine muzzle device, of course) and doing a review in comparison.
Did you test if the ringing sound is better/worse if you switch from their flash hider to their muzzle brake?
got the full size Velos and it's an awesome can
Price is my hold back..
looking at the AB WartHog 5.56 myself.
I do think flow through cans are the future of suppressors, as shown by how many other companies have come out with them in the past year or two. I'm waiting on a Ventum 7.62 right now, and would have bought a Ventum 5.56 had they come out last year when I was buying cans. So I'm waiting on a Velos LBP in 5.56.
Just saw an interesting video about the Unity Tactical GASCAP, as it’s called. Not sure if you’re away of it but looks like it might be something worth looking into, certainly a neat idea.
already bought one
@@BrassFacts 👍
The more I learn about other cans, the happier I am I got my Nomad-30 and chose the Plan B. Moderate cost. Great performance. Would recommend.
I went with Xeno due to the options available on my Wolfman.
Thanks
I’ve noticed so much erosion in my form1556 can on an 11.5” 556. I definitely agree that cleaning might actually be a more frequently needed thing
Thanks yo!
Ordered my flow 556 last week. This will be my first can. Probably a rifle rated 9mm can next!
Hey dude tip from one lefty to another- try a left eject upper with your suppressed guns. Makes a *massive* difference in the gas-to-the-face department.
Thanks!
thanks!
6:06 Even just sending the bolt home makes the can ring lol.
Thank you! For those who wonder about intro music: "What's Left Behind" by Taylor Crane
The CAT ODB and WB are probably the most hyped and they live up to it. They are pretty much making everything else look like old news.
Love my Flow 556 and 762. The ping is not ideal and i don't have night vision so they're perfect. My Flow 556 on my H&R M16A1 is sooo nice and makes it very pleasant and very quiet behind the gun for 556
Brass facts upload? It's a good day.
It would be interesting to add a long 556 suppressor to your testing efforts, which would provide a better comparison to the shorter length suppressors you have shown in this video.
All I wanted was a can. Finally got one. Realized the down-sides of gumming up the gun and reliability issues within 500 rounds, length, weight, heat, change in zero, wear on parts and still being loud is not worth it for me over the flash hider.
If you keep up with maintenance and use a leading, dedicated lubricant / dedicated solvent then these issues you bring up become very minimal other than heat of course. Switching over to mil-comm grease on ALL my suppressed firearms. Mil-comm is a very special product amongst an overwhelming field of dedicated lubricants. The only negative is price but a small amount goes a LONG way.
I've been able to find their muzzle devices for 100 to 120 on sale. I love their brakes and when I don't wanna shoot suppressed the blasphemy is nice for getting rid of the brake concussion completely.
would you ever consider doing a video going over how you set up your rifles?
Got my dead air nomad in 21 days 😂 expected to be 9 months. Now looking for a dedicated 556 can
I recognize that indoor range 😃 hopefully I can get up there to zero the new red dot on my Mark IV soon.
Rc3 and velos are on my list. For certain weapon platform's the flow rules
I'd love a similar Video done on the AB A10 warthog can. Supposedly duty rated, not flow through but lower back pressure with good flash suppression. Light weight, hub compatible for under $500 street price. Very interesting combo of features. I'd love to see a non shill review though before I commit.
Have you tried any Griffin Armament suppressors?
Did you ever try the break. I had ringing issues until I switched from the FH to the break
My rifle can is a HX-QD Ti and it’s great. The upsides outweigh any knit-picky downsides IMO.
Hey @brassfacts what lowers do you have on your main rifles?
Ive found that some grease (or SOTARacha) on the mount threads makes the can much easier to remove after its cooled off.
I am leaning towards the cat wb, as I already have 2 hux cans, the older versions before the flow though
Was on the fence w the Flow 556k for my AUG, any chance yall tried it on yours? if so howd it go? I think it would be a decent video. (suppressing the AUG)
We have one of these at the shop, it does work and it does work well. It's probably one of the coolest full auto cans we have. That said, I had it installed on a longer barreled SPR, and a bolt rifle for a while and the performance didn't really wow me, it changes the tone a lot, but to the shooter's ear it was still painful to shoot. By far the biggest issue I had was the "quick detach" system. It ended up being more like a quick loosen system.
Well I’m assuming you have 5.56 which means it’ll never be hearing safe
@@Furiouspenguin27 He's not talking about hearing safe, he's talking about hearing tolerable. Cans have the bonus of allowing you to pop off a few shots without your ears hurting and having reduced hearing (short term, obviously the long term effects are still there), usually that is.
@@Furiouspenguin27 OSHA hearing safe and "not painful" have different meanings, which is why I went with "painful" vs "not painful". I like the HUX can, we've run it on a number of post samples, it doesn't bump the cyclic rate anywhere near as much as the Surefire RC2, which is, a much quieter can, if you can get over the gas in the face issues. Again, biggest complaint with the hux is that mounting system. I know it's now available with some models using a hub compatible system, would be interested to try it with a Rearden Plan-A to Plan B.
@@highdesertdrew1844false, the RC2 is not a much quieter can. Pew Science proved that. You might “perceive” it to be quieter, but the hearing damage risk criterion does not care about your perception.
There is no such thing as hearing safe gun even with the biggest suppressor you can find, what may seem hearing safe will still do damage to your ears that will cumulatively show itself one day as tinnitus. Always wear good protection.
Nova makes me happy.
I'm thinking on putting this on a 14.5 munition works build with an acog rmr. I like the idea of the gun being reliable regardless if the suppressor is on or not. Gonna be my first can along with an obsidian 9. thoughts???
I put a flow 556k on my 14.5 sr-15 and 16in aero spr builds, love it so far. Nice and lightweight and short enough that they don't turn into muskets, and the low gas in the face is a pleasure to shoot. No ringing on mine and the tone is very nice, no regrets at all. I am also going to try out the 7.62 flow on them and see how it turns out since its just a little bigger but same weight, that one's still stuck in jail though.
SASS vid when, also what magnification range of scopes
I’m on the high flow hype rn interested in the velos
Hey brass…. Nice cans ☺️
Watched your video this morning while eating breakfast...just got a call from my gunstore and was able to pick up my flow 556k out of jail a couple hours later (87 day wait). Coincidence? I dont think so 😮
Think you’ll ever get your hands on the CAT WB?
Mr facts. if you do decide to dabble in suppressor covers I would love to see your opinion on modtac covers. it's like a kydex/carbon fiber cover that makes no contact with the can itself. it's attached to the top rail or side m lok slots. to me it seems like it would be the best at doing what suppressor covers are supposed to do.
I recently ordered a couple of similar 3D printed flow-through cans (CAT WB and PTR Vent). My thinking is, yeah they are 2x the cost of a baffle stack but still less than what ammo costs over time - and by the time you’ve sufficiently tuned your rifle for use with a high back pressure can (which might include swapping the buffer, getting a vented charging handle, gas block, and high-dwell-time BCG) you could end up having paid just as much for a less reliable setup.
You will be very happy with both of those. both have amazing backpressure reduction without sacrificing muzzle suppression.
CAT WB A1 and ODB are on my list. I do love how they focus on specific calibers due to the varying pressure curves. Allows for quite a unique experience.
It doesnt cost the price difference in ammo to tune a rifle.
Is that clr cleaning process applicable to standard cans as well? How often should you consider cleaning a traditional baffle stack can ?
Yes, some
Not if it has any aluminum in it
@@masonboard fortunately I have access to a soda blaster for my aluminum guy
Could you do a video on the Sig SLX in 5.56 to compare to this?
Any chances of taking a look at the Cobalt Kinetics Scrambler can? The thing weighs something like 6 oz total. Made of Ti and is supposed to be “low back pressure”. I’ve from some guys at Modern Warriors that the sound is also incredibly quiet for something that small.
It would be cool if you could review the new Huxwrx cleaning solution that was just announced at ShotShow 2024.
I WAS gonna get the Hux... I got a YHM Resonator R2 instead. Err- well, it's in jail. And i'm awaiting approval. April, if im lucky.👌
What’s a good forum/ website to deep dive into suppressors?
