  • Back again with another longplay of magic school bus cd-rom games, 2/4 that I own. This time, the Human Body. I spent countless hours playing this as a kid, and I absolutely loved it. I went through just about everything you can do in this game and most of the dialogue that the characters say. This was played using a real cd-rom and not a disk image. Hope you enjoy and get some good ol' nostalgia.

    2 quick notes:
    1. The game was played in win2000, which wouldn't support full screen video animations for some reason, so to at least have the intro in full screen and not play super fast, I recorded that specifically in win98.
    2. I skip the reports and desk games in the classroom since the same reports and games show up during the adventure.

@@Circuit3 no because I am really into dark wave / EBM / electro industrial / aggrotech music. I just went to Industrial Festival in November so it's kind of cool. Currently the music on this game sounds great, but the whole idea of being trapped inside a human body with eerie animations and dark music...yikes! 😂

19:40 Something about the old crappy animation and the soundtrack used to absolutely haunt me as a kid... At 5 years old I just couldn't even comprehend what psychological horror I was experiencing. Nice to experience it again 23 years later!

Whilst I found this game hilarious and super interesting as a small kid on our crappy family computer (the sound effects when choosing between different facial features and accessories on the driver's license photo were particularly random and hilarious) but 4-5 year old me found the recurring combination of bizarrely haunting music, creepily visceral and anatomical animation and the scary realisations of just how soft and fragile the human body is (combined with the bizarre choice of voices, facial expressions and the gooey, slimy sound effects all bizarrely creepy and off putting, particularly when playing the old jittery PC alone in a dark downstairs room. I still have extremely fond memories of games from this generation though, including the magic school bus explores the ocean

The way I play these old cd-roms is to use virtual machines. I use a program called Oracle Virtualbox. I have virtual machines for windows 3.1 - Windows XP. There's lots of tutorials online to set them up. I plan on making videos of the other 2 Magic School Bus games I have as well soon in the future: ocean and dinosaurs 😀

1:41:05 At that point, as a kid, every time I got a high score, regardless who popped on screen if it was Keesha, Carlos, Phoebe, or Wanda, when that triumphant high score theme played, I always used to get up and take a deep bow, and repetitively over and over and over again and didn't stop until that musical tune stopped playing. It always made me feel good acting as if I have impressed that guy and those three girls with excitement, it was fun!

Also when that fanfare and applause sound effect used to play, I used to bow repetitively and nonstop until there was silence from them.
