Movie slide show about my homemade, 5 rank, all wood pipe organ. The music is from the dedication recital. Visit my website www.rwgiangiulio.com for more information.
Poplar key levers!! And that's just the beginning!! Your work is immaculate, and as far as I can tell from the slides, your building techniques are CRAZY- with awesome results. I've been an organ builder for more than 20 years, and been privileged to be involved in some pretty amazing organs. My hat's off to you! Keep up the good work!
I write my comment very late but as an engineer, and a passionnate of audio/sound/DIY,woodworking for years, make a pipe organ interest me. And maybe creating some "excentric" pipe ranks, I really want to know if it is possible to harmonize pretty well some materials like PVC or polycarbonate... The french musician Nicolas Bras achieve to make a large amount of wind instrument in PVC, they sound surprisingly good !
@@prussiankingdom1693 yes and I remember a jazzman recording a full album with a cute pink pastic saxophone, that's sound pretty well, nobody ear the difference !
That's not only a fine-sounding instrument, but a work of art and an edeavour of considerable effort and merit. Well done! I used to think I would have time to build an organ in my retirement. I know that I won't but the yearning is still there even if subdued by common sense!
Too bad it's over I could have sat and listened to that all day. By the way, was that a trumpet organ duo. That is something you never hear. Quite beautiful.
As a solely wood pipe instrument this one is voiced beautifully with the lovely lively yet mellow notes coming from the wood pipes. I am waiting now to see if he does something with brass and copper for metal Pipes it surely would complete this imstrument. The songs chosen and played also highlighted the strengths of this instrument.
Metal pipe-making is a skill beyond the patient and exacting woodworking skill brought to bear in the making and building of this sweet little instrument.
An amazing example of both mechanical engineering and wood crafting skills. The tracker organ is the most difficult for the professionals to build much less an amateur in his workshop. In addition he is evidently an accomplished organists.
How wonderful that you had the talent, determinination, stamina, knowledge and let's not forget the resources to do this. It sounds absolutely wonderful. Congratulations, and thanks for sharing this.
Wonderful mellow, mellifluous sound and very versatile as evidenced by the range of pieces played during the video. Well done...I cannot begin to imagine what work and precision this must involve. I would love to have an organ like this but would not know where to start...
I love especially the sounds (registers, ranks) in the two first pieces, and the fourth. Who played? This is a beautiful playing! And wow for an organ result, the looks of it and the slides are beautiful, showing workshop knowledge I wish I had.
As I viewed the video, I was so very impressed with every single detail put into this organ. I cannot imagine how many hours went into the initial planning stages, nor can I imagine anyone having the expertise, incredible skill, and devotion to spend countless hours in the construction of even the smallest but most essential details. I dare say the workmanship surpasses that of the finest organ builders in the world. It is obvious the end result is his utterly amazing organ is something of which he can play and enjoy the rest of his days. No matter how grand an instrument any organist owns, his heart's desire is to own his own personal pipe organ and this is the awesome example of what we wish were ours. Enjoy! You have most certainly earned the right.. It at any time the house next door to you comes up for sale, please let me know! I would love to become your guest on a daily basis!
You are a true artisan indeed! Do you build organs professionally? If not, you really should! This instrument is a true woodwind instrument on a grand scale (being that there are not any metal pipes whatsoever)!
Keep in mind there is a huge difference between building a little organ like this and building an organ for a good sized church. 60, 870 100 or more stops is far more than one man can do regardless of his skill. Being a hobbiest with a lovely little project like this is one thing, but having the space, facilities and crew to build a real concert organ or for a large church - that is a whole other story. This is a nice project, well done. Lots of time and patience represented in this completed instrument.
Very nice. I’m well aware that most small instruments can become tiresome. Yet this instrument didn’t seem tiresome at all. Very pleasant and not harsh at all. Well done.
Wath a beatifull looking and soundig instrument! You have put an incredible work into this instrument and of course in all the other organs that you have built. Thank you for sharing this. Have a great week! Zoltán

Nice! I'm a young organist, and if you someday start building more pipe organs for churches, when I'm at a church in need of one, I'll keep you in mind!
Hard for me to say which homemade pipe organ is more impressive; this one, or "Trudy". I'd say it's a tie. Very nice job; I'm suprised at the amount of music you can get out of 5 ranks!
melvis24, the music light and pedal light "stops" actually are not actually stops, they are switches for the music rack and pedal lights, for illumination rather than sound.
I've been following this project since I found out about your website! Very nice. A lot of hours represented here! Davidmiler12: there are 4 speaking manual stops and one pedal stop. Woops, some tuning problems in the treble around 5:30 :-)
Great work! That must be a dream to own your own self made organ. Is the Montre 8' open in the lowest octave? And what do the Stops "Music light" and "Pedal light" do?
Hi, You are a complete genius. I would love to work with you. I aided an organ tuner/ builder to refurbish an old pipe organ in an Anglical church in Ireland. It was amazing, I loved it. By the way what is the third piece of music played on the organ music please Thank you for posting. Bless you, Mervyn.
Raphi, I've been following your work on this project since last year and I'd like to say a heartfelt congratulations on the final result, and also on having landed a new job! Are you calling this your "Opus 1"? Also, I should mention that your playing of short pieces posted on your website was part of the inspiration I needed to start playing myself. Thank you!
Excellent sound and craftsmanship! Here is another idea. If you would ever like to expand your organ, you might want to pay a visit to Ebay, where i have seen organ pipes being sold (i recall seing a set of flues and krumhorns and more, for really low prices).

Hi Raphig. You mentioned the G pipe you made was 15+ 3/8" in length, what would be the sizes for the surrounding c scale (Below and above) with the 5 sharps and flats... Thank you, Mervyn
Hi Raphig, I am really impressed. What books did you use as references? e.g. how to do all of the tracker runs etc. I went to the Laukhuff site but cannot envision how you did all of this. Thanks, Ray Moderski

Really impressive work and really well done!
Good luck with your next projects from a pipe organ maker from Germany
I love your meticulous and documenational style! A beautiful instrument indeed!
At times, I like the very strident-loud organ melodies for slower pieces like buxtehude. For the more faster flows, I like the very wind-pipe sound.
