  • I hope you'll enjoy the "Emperor's Fanfare" for Pipe Organ which is part of my new Trumpet Tune Collection! This Fanfare is probably one of the most famous pieces from that era, played on the legendary Bosch organ in Santanyi Spain. This Pipe Organ features some of the best trumpets in the world and has a super powerful Bombarde in the pedal which shakes the whole church!
    I hope you'll enjoy this recording of the "Emperor's Fanfare" using the amazing Bombarde + Pleno stops of this pipe organ.

    I stumbled into Carcassone one evening, no plan, just arrived at the doorstep of a very nice 5 star restaurant where the maitre,d almost laughed when I asked if I could get a table, then a voice from across the room said he can sit with me. My invite came from the Organ Master of the English Church in Berne, a nice fellow whose first or second question was, "are you here for the recital?". To which I said "no". He next said, "so you have just happen to arrive at one of the finer restaurants in the region in time to get to the recital across the street?" He explained the event about to transpire. The inaugural concert of the 17h century organ in the Norman Cathedral after it's complete refurbishment. He left early as he was part of the official invitees. I finished and walked across the street, merely walked in and chose a seat and enjoyed my first live organ concert. It was superb. The summer of 1985.

    The composer: Antonio Soler was educated at the choir school of Montserrat and at an early age was made chapelmaster at Lérida Cathedral. In 1752 he joined the Order of St. Jerome (Hieronymites) and became organist at the Escorial Monastery. As one of the most notable keyboard performers of his time, he taught both organ and harpsichord to members of the royal family. He was himself a student of Domenico Scarlatti, whose influence may be perceived in the lively keyboard technique, the form, and the frequently unexpected harmonic progressions of Soler’s numerous harpsichord sonatas and also in some of his organ works. He wrote much church music, in which he often indulged a taste for intricate canons; incidental music for plays by Calderón and others; six quintets for organ and strings; and six concerti for two organs. He also wrote a work on musical theory, Llave de la Modulación (1762), which was the subject of significant controversy among his contemporaries. His experiments with microtones led him to invent, for the purpose, a keyboard instrument called the afinador.

      Querido amigo las trompeterías horizontales o de batalla como también se denominan y los registros barrocos como este órgano de Santanyi en las Islas Baleares, debo decirte que su tipo de registros se reproducen en la mayoría órganos ibéricos del siglo XVIII a lo largo y ancho de la geografía del Reino de España en instrumentos de mayor o menor tamaño, tanto en los de las Islas como en el resto de la península Ibérica, en mi ciudad el órgano barroco del presbiterio, que posee la Iglesia Arciprestal en Vila-real del 1722 de 2.250 caños, la mayoría de sus registros coinciden con este que tenemos el placer de escuchar de manos expertas del joven maestro Paul. What a mighty overwhelming sound. E. Power-Biggs' solo arrangement of this fanfare from Soler's Sixth Double Organ Concerto is no doubt responsible for making it so well known and loved. It's in the 'Biggs Book of Organ Music.'.

    • @muzluv33
      @muzluv33 2 місяці тому +2

      Yes it is and I have my second copy of that book (the first one got all worn out from use!) I play that piece more times than I can count. Biggs also recorded it twice that I know of - on the Columbia LP Historic Organs of Spain on the organ of Toledo Cathedral and on another Columbia LP called Soler Six Concertos for Two Organs in which the fanfare is written in a somewhat different form as the last movement of the Sixth Concerto. On this recording Biggs plays the famous Flentrop organ at the Busch-Reisinger Museum in Cambridge MA and the second organist is Daniel Pinkham who plays a one manual positiv organ also by Flentrop. Both albums can be found online - just look for the best condition and best price.

And just listening to a pipe organ FULLY open and breathing sends goosebumps up and down your arms. Especially, if the reverb is good on top of that. He used powerful pipe organs and Spanish trumpets to perfectly revive his grandeur and power. He leaves a deep impression by breathing new life into the painting. The notes and harmonies give the impression of having a long history and convey the essence well.
    The performance leads to a world of deep emotion. The melody sounds more powerful and vivid through the harmonious echo of the organ and trumpet, and reveals its solemnity well. Powerful energy will captivate the mind and remain in the memory for a long time.
    It showcases the beauty and power of classical music anew, and its skilled performance skills and sensuous interpretation make the performance even more remarkable and emotional. This wonderful performance delivers music inspiration and tells a hidden story.

    Must be fun tuning all those horizontal reeds!

    • @InventorZahran
      @InventorZahran 12 днів тому

      The whole point of installing them horizontally is to keep them all at the front of the case, easily accessible for tuning. Only the Trompeta Réal is enclosed.

    Wow, never heard such low notes from a church organ before. Would be exciting to experience these notes in real life.

      Those are likely 32 foot pipes

    • @InventorZahran
      @InventorZahran 12 днів тому

      @@Geoplanetjane16-foot, but tuned a half step below standard, so the low C effectively sounds a B. In standard tuning, *you would need a 32' rank* to hit that low B.

    Listening with headphones, and I can feel the vibrations of the bass!
    It is nice that we have not ripped all of the real organs out and replaced them with an electronic substitute.
