I usually do 8-10 kids quilts each month, but have slowed down some. But at 77, I’m entitled to slow down some. Hopefully you are safe from the storm, keep sewing!

Well, since you asked… My 2024 quilting goals involve quarterly challenges that have 4 rules - 1) Use what I have. 2) Make in a 3 month period. 3) Make to fit a space in my home. And 4) Design it myself. So far I have broken rules 1 and 2. Also, I know you like to acquire books and I have a suggestion - Design Make Quilt Modern by Heather Black. I checked it out of the library and now I know that I must purchase it. I’ve read all of the chapters but did not read the pattern instructions (because I want to design, make, and quilt my own projects). Anyway, glad to see you back in the saddle again.

We moved in April which has ment packing and unpacking a 40 year stash and downsizing about 1400 sq feet. The longarm is back up and in use, the much much smaller sewing room is almost set up and I am headed to quilt camp in 2 weeks. I will be happy to start sewing again period.

Hello Beautiful! I “Played” yesterday with scraps. I randomly stitched irregularly shaped scraps together until I got to almost 6.5” then I added irregular strips around the perimeter in two consistent color ways to tie them together. It was so much fun and they turned out great. Now I’m thinking about borders. I love 5” squares for a quick quilt! All of yours look awesome!

When I lost my sewjo I thought I’d tidy and sort my sewing space and that it would help but I couldn’t really face that so I tried some English Paper Piecing. I didn’t even go into my sewing space for supplies I bought a few FQ’s, needles and thread. You could try anything a bit different; EPP, cross stitch, knitting, crochet etc. but sometimes we just need a break from it. I hope you get your sewjo back soon and are able to enjoy your sewing room again.

What an inspiring video! So happy to see such energy ❤. You used charm squares while I used jellyrolls. I had a 4 day weekend last week and was in a slump over donation quilts that need to be done. I put my hand quilting on the back burner and made 4 jellyroll race tops in two days. I do need to purchase some ombre fabric to add top and bottom borders and then machine quilt. I figured this was the quickest way for me to produce to complete a few quilts to donate.

This week i took the last of my UFO's to the longarm quilter. All the old project will all be soon be done....but up on my design wall are many new sample blocks i put together just this week😉😍 it One batch done a new batch about to be born. Got to love it!

Your quilts are amazing! I have not been nearly that productive! I’ve been having health problems and they have interfered with my daily routine! That in combination with the oppressive heat have stalled me. I need to push through and get back to it! I began the year feeling well and was super productive but the last couple of months, not much has happened! Thank you for sharing you are an inspiration!❤

@@amydement. it’s so cool how you can trick the eye into thinking it’s complicated but just squares, triangles, and rectangles. I have a bunch of squares cut out so I think I’ll just do a checkerboard type thing. I haven’t felt like sewing in a while
Exactly! Sewing squares together in a checkerboard is one of my go to ‘lost my mojo’ remedies. Sometimes just the sound of the machine and the Ruth’s of feeding through squares is therapy in itself.

Oh my gosh! I love rainbow Mickey so much. I must make one (someday). I'm glad I'm not the only one that putzs around putting off what only takes a short time to finish. Why do I wait? Because I'm already thinking 3 more quilts ahead.
I am participating in a UFO challenge this year and so far have only had to roll one project over to next year (oddly it's a Mickey Mouse quilt but with panels). In addition I've made/completed 10 other quilts and by the end of the year I am hoping my total is about 20ish. Really enjoyed your video. Thanks!

That is an easy problem to have and a tough one to fix. I’ve had to let go of some things to allow room for new ideas but it’s hard not to get swept up. Take your time and be kind to yourself!
