Great video. Nice job on your first pull. We had an incredible first pull, 39 claws 27 on the second. So far good start to the season. Good luck and tight lines.
Both claws 🙌 nice trap nice catch!! Recreational trapping same here same - backlash on taking both claws… great work on the video always a good time watching you all!! Thank you for posting Haulin4life
Been a fan for a while and now turned my 15 year old son into a fan as well. We live in Texas and I watched you come up, pioneering daytime sword fishing. I used to know Brett and The Boobytrap team somewhat and was cool to see you guys figure it out and growing the sport together. Glad to see you doing well on UA-cam and Bud n Marys still thriving. Wife and I rolled through Isla Morada a couple of months back on the way down to KW. We actually sat a few tables over from you at Lazy Days eating lunch. Thought about trying to get you for a pic, mostly for my son, but didnt want to bother your lunch. We did wander over to the marina and buy my wife a bud n marys hat. Maybe next time ill fan boy out :) Best of luck and keep up the content, I look forward to it.
Love watching your catch cook and consume videos, and how was the young nick on the sportsman magazine cover, how cool,,, was great to see the junior crab eating machine enjoying herself, hope the kids had a great Halloween, thanks for another great video, take care
Awesome video as always. I would be super careful if that’s a wire brush grill scrubber. I know multiple people who have had those bristles get stuck to the grill then on the food they are grilling. They end up stuck in their throat when eating the food that was on it. Definitely wasn’t fun trips to the ER for either of them.
@StanzFam apparently there's a commercial guy around Sarasota pushing nearly 1000 traps. I believe it, there's a damn ton around this area. But is there a limit for how many commercial guys can have?
Aloha. Lived in Hawaii almost twenty years, used to live in Florida before that. Stone crabs my favorite, season opens on my birthday. Maybe 7-11 crabs?
Hey Nick. I've been a fan of Bud n Mary's since 1969. I remember when you're Dad bought it and my Dad and I spent many hours there, and at Whale Harbour. Tried to stay away from the Tiki Bar, I couldn't seem to leave and be in any condition to fish the next day. Anyway, my question is, do you have any StanzFam or Bud n Mary's 3XL long sleeve pocket T Shirts? I moved to North Carolina and all my fishing T's from Jupiter Inlet to Key West are worn out. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appriciated. Thanks brother. Tight Lines and Good Fishing!!! Buck Walker
Hey Buck we don’t have any pocket sleeve long sleeve t’s right now. If we get some for the marina I’ll try to post or mention it. I bet you had some great times down here! Thanks for watching
Where did you get the information on escape hole location? I'm showing on FWC that the only requirement for 2025 is that it be on a vertical wall? Thanks.
Good evening Captain, at what depth can you find the Queen snappers, I live in Miami and I don't know here at what depth to fish them, in Cuba I fished them from 1000 to 1500 feet, but several people here tell me that in the area of There aren't any in Miami, what do you think? Thank you.
I been checking the website frequently, when are getting more kids nicks stick. I’m trying to get my kids into doing more fishing . Do you have them at bud and Mary’s. I did book a fishing trip for December 2. Maybe I can get them then
I have been waiting on the manufacturer. Completion dates have been pushed back numerous times and I wanted to make a couple modifications so we are just getting final samples approved. Hoping to have some by the end of the month and a lot more at some point in December.
Nick, you just got that boat. Why are you selling it? Also, with each day that passes, Claire becomes more and more of your Mini Me! She even eats like you, except she's not as messy.🤣
We have a new X3 on order. Just part of the business to use/promote the boat and items on it and then sell it while it’s still valuable. Since we don’t charter as much anymore part of our income is from selling the boats every couple years (assuming them and all the equipment on them hold their value)
@adamyoung480 just part of the business model. Buy the boat at a preferred rate, promote the boat (plus any other products from companies we have partnered with) and then sell it a couple years later to justify all the promotional/marketing efforts. Hopefully over the years we provide more value to the companies and the deal gets better for everyone
@adamyoung480 Florida only ever had one year where you could harvest one claw. Wasn’t enough scientific data to keep it that way. I think everyone who eats stonecrab looks at themself just fine in the mirror. Considering the majority of stone crabs are commercially harvested it would be foolish to think 10 recreational traps makes a difference when letting a crab go with a legal size claw, they crawl 50’ into one of the thousands of commercial traps 🤷🏻♂️🦀
@stoneman-kl2gq claw removal plays a major role into the survival rate (or mortality rate) of the crabs. Using a knife to get the crab to “let go” of the claw is much less damaging than someone breaking the claw off improperly. But if you know what you are doing and can break the claws off properly they still have a decent shot at surviving.
How come you don't eat the whole crab and the big claw he pulled out of the sick was almost as big as the lobster tail also how come you don't eat the claws while they are hot
You are not to only UA-camr getting hit from people complaining it would seem. People get nothing good going on in their lives so they gotta try and bring others down
If you don’t like it then commission a study and petition FWC. All the recent studies that I’ve seen show that crabs with both claws harvested actually have higher survival rates. The most plausible explanation I’ve seen is that crabs with one claw will remain active and expose themselves to predators while only having half of their defenses. But crabs missing both claws will find shelter and wait until their claws grow back before going out and exposing themselves to predators.
Nick you are living the life. I watch your videos and it leaves me Hungry looking at all that beautiful Seafood. Great videos!
Glad you enjoy the videos! Thanks for watching

Awesome! Thank you!
I heard that if you don't take both claws they fight with other crab...and lose. So if they have no claws they lay low until their claws grow back!
awesome Nick, hope you do very well crabbing, Sarah does a top job as a deckie
Thanks 👍

Out here in northern California we have dungeness...any comparison in taste? Have never tried stone crab
Me either
Take em both and any one who chastises someone for being within the law can kick rocks. Great video nick
Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Anybody complaining about you taking both crab claws needs to get a life. Nice catch guy well done .
Agreed
Agreed, thanks 👍🏻. 10 recreational traps in an ocean filled with thousands of commercial traps who harvest all legal size claws 🤷🏻♂️.

Agreed ! As long as you’re eating them , I have no issues at all .
@MrBlizzard769 why would take it and not eat it for ????
That is just crazy lol
Yo Sarah do a fish tank video I wanna see your corals & everything you use !
It’s in the works!
Never had one to eat before. We don't uave them out here in Hawaii.

10x better than Kona crab
I just saw your weather last nite you guys ok
It was unexpected but se are all good here. Some damage in town and around us

hows the garmin wokring out on the new boat captain?
Everything is working great so far! Finally getting them all dialed in and used to the different operating system etc
Is 40k a decent offer on the Freeman? Let me know very interested. 👍
That’ll pay your boat insurance on it for a year 👍🏻
didnt you just by the 42 freeman?
We took delivery of a new one late this summer. Selling the 2021 42’

Hi Stanz Fam. I like Dakota. 😆😍🤣😂🍻🍺
👋🏻
What happens when the trap hits a rock and lands upside down?
They always seem to right themselves since the concrete is on the bottom of the trap

I have never heard of them caught off Miami. We get some off the Keys but not sure why they don’t travel further north
@@StanzFamthanks for your quick response
Why such a quick turnaround with the Freeman?
Just part of the business plan. Use for a couple years, promote the boat and products on it, and sell while everything is still valuable
What type of boat is this one?
Shallow sport X3
Why do you take one or two claw
@@gemmahay2255 we usually harvest both claws if legal size

I'm sure at some point I would accidentally throw the crab leg back in the water while still holding the crab. "D'oh!"
It happens to us occasionally 🙃🙂

X3 is the model of the boat we have from shallow sport . Trimaran design (multi hull)
Giveaway on your old x3 ???
We haven’t make it to that point yet. It’s for sale, hopefully buy the new one from the sale of the old one.
Aloha. I’m confused. Is there a reason why you go through perfectly good boats every couple of years?
@adamyoung480 just part of the business model. Just like leasing a vehicle I would imagine.
Why are you selling that awesome boat???
We took delivery of a new one. Just try to keep a boat for a couple years and then sell
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. When taking both claws from a Stone Crab the mortality rate is upwards of 84%
Aloha, and I agree. When I left Florida, it was one. I can still look at myself in the mirror.

why waste your time patching the holes if making same size ones below it where crabs are anyway?
Rectangle compared to a circle, it’s a little bigger than the escape ring
