John Fazio died just a couple of weeks ago, on 14 March. He was 99 years old. I’m _just_ old enough to remember Fazio’s (this commercial predates me by a year), even if it was on its way out by the time I was aware.
I worked for Fazio's from 1977 to 1985. I started in the Brunswick store(415) was transferred to the Medina store (831) and ended up at the Amherst store (1945). I also worked the grand opening in Strongsville and was sent temporarily to Berea when they needed help stocking at night.
we had 1 in Mansfield also i will never forget begging my Dad to push that cart outside and i hit the rail where they kept the carts and spilled a whole cart of Groceries all over the ground! lol i mustve been maybe 7 or 8,lol
We lived in Harrison and we shopped at the one in Colrain, OH a lot on the weekends in the 70s. Close to the 1980 that one was already closed down. Mom would stock up there because, they were much cheaper than the Kroger’s by where we lived, there quality of products were a bit better as well. So, when, we went there as kids we could pick out a lot of the foods we wanted. We usually went on Friday nights most of the time, after mom shopped and we ate out we then, would make a stop there. Needless to say, back then, as kids we would get very excited to go do our grocery shopping there. That’s why, I was so, sad to see them shutdown.
Hey I remember Fazio's. There was a TV commercial with a song "Mr. Fazio refuses to be....undersold"....and then the camera would pan to Mr. Fazio and he'd say "I refuse". Thanks for the memories. Thanks for posting.
I remember a fazios in garden grove,it was located on harbor and g.g blvd.its a grocery store still.i remember the fresh hot whole loaves of bread we took home and we would slice our own thick slices.didnt he get divorced and that's when the store went downhill from there.i remember the grand opening when they raffled a car,it looked liked dune buggy type car like they use in the demolition derbys.

My family shopped at Fazio's in Elyria, Oh in the early-mid '70s. I'm 48, and barely remember the store. I came to Virginia in 1976...
