Thanks for the info on replacing the tub centering springs. Interesting note, I started this project by replacing the suspension rod cups and bushings. When I ordered the parts I noticed the springs on the diagram so I ordered those also. However when I opened the washer up there was no sign of the old springs. Nothing on the suspension rod, nothing on the tub and nothing on the floor under the washer. The only thing that I can figure is that my mom had someone service the washer and neglected to reinstall the springs. I went ahead and installed the springs ( which have very light tension ) since I was already doing the rod bushings. Hoping this takes care of the shaking issue.
Great video! Jason Freeburn thanks for all your responses. Question: I just bought my Whirlpool washer 2 months ago, but I may have put too much weight in one load last week. Now when the tub is filling, the weight of the water makes the tub drop down about 3 inches. I drained the water, and the tub rose again. Is that normal? Do I need to replace these springs, or is the lowering just a normal process that I didn’t notice previously? I’m so stressed about having to do a repair right after investing so much in a new washer!
Not sure how this is supposed to help. My Maytag top load washer didn't have any. I replaced the two on the right hand side and tested it. My washing machine still shakes like crazy. I can understand it helping if the spring had some tension to it, but it doesn't have any whatsoever
The centering Springs you can purchase to install over the rods are not nearly strong enough to keep the drum centered. Take one of the Springs to Lowes with you to use it as a judge for the length of 4 new Springs get all four of the same length as the factory one but thicker material so they'll be stronger and hold the drum better
Ive changed my suspension rods, added 4 drum centering springs, and leveled my washer. It still shakes violently during the spin cycle even with no clothes in the drum. Im thinking its potentially the washer drum bearing or im at a loss by this point.
Question.. As I was doing mine, I noticed that I only had two suspension tub springs connected to the suspension rod on the right side, but none on the left side. Shouldn't I have 4 total springs?
I asked Whirlpool parts department about those springs on the top because I have one on each side of the front but I was told that the suspension Springs are on the bottom of the tub. Now that I've seen this video I'm really confused.
My Whirlpool washer is also doing the same thing. My Whirlpool also doesn't came with the centering springs. These springs look so flimsy. Will they have enough strength/tension to hold the drum from "banging" around? Can someone confirm that they only replaced/added these centering springs and resolved the "banging" issue please? Much appreciated
I don't know why wirlpool doesn't put the springs in these or the roper clones. But if you'll bring one of the springs to lowes and use it as a guide to buy 4 new springs, same length but slightly thicker springs so they'll have more tension. That will fix your problem.
In replacing the leveling springs on our Kenmore Oasis HE I noticed the tub appears to have a liquid sealed in the bottom. I have never noticed this before. Is this correct and does the liquid core have something to do with balancing? I can't see how any wash water could have leaked into the tub. If there is a problem with the tub I want to change it before I replace the springs.
I have an Inglis washing machine, wondering if the video also applies to Inglis since it's been purchased by Kitchen Aid, if anyone knows? Also the washing machine is moving a lot like 2-3 inches during spin cycle I'm wondering if tub centering springs are the problem.
I have a Kenmore Elite Oasis cloth washer that make terrible noise when spin, after I replace the sensor W10178988 that give me in code F51 Diagnostic, the machine work okay now but when spinning make a lot of noise that don't make it before; what can I do?
After replaced the sensor I don't have the code anymore, just when spine to get water out of the machine make a lot routing noise very loud. What can I do to get ready of the noise? machine is working okay just noise very loud when spinning.
The factory Springs aren't too thick enough to be strong enough to hold the drum centered, bring one to Lowe's with you to use it as a guide to purchase for new Springs all the same length but thicker so they'll be stronger that should solve your problem
Before removing the lid my agitator appears to be leaning to the back and right. I can fit my hand back there and it feels like the rod has dislodged from the top of the frame, the spring is still connected to it and the tub. I think that is where my problem is. Would you agree?
After all is dislodged itself from the top bushing then it's probably broken and will need to be replaced experience will help the rods from breaking down the future.
I was just about to call the repair man. Thks so much for that wonderful demonstration and explanation

Did this work? Mine doesn’t have the springs either.
Majority of the washer don't come with them. Don't kno y
I have a Maytag MVWC565FW1 top loading washer almost new
I have the same issue with the same washer it seems springs would be beneficial to it. Did you ever get it fixed?
@@fbanda20replace the suspension rods to correct the issue. They also have a video for that.

Are there only 2 springs ? My parents had one..& there were doings on each rod

These are just centering springs from what I've read. You probably need the suspension rods.

@@teresamier9370 There are other washers that use big suspension springs on the bottom of the tub, maybe those are the ones they were refering to.
How do I know the springs (only 2) need to be replaced?
Replace all four there should be one in each corner

I was wondering the same thing because they are super flimsy. It's hard to believe they do anything at all.

Some water will always be left behind in the tub after draining. Completely normal.

With the code that you provided it is stating that the rotor position sensor has a connection error.
After replaced the sensor I don't have the code anymore, just when spine to get water out of the machine make a lot routing noise very loud.
What can I do to get ready of the noise?
machine is working okay just noise very loud when spinning.
Only 2 are required? Do you need one for each corner?
My question too
ARE there 4 centering springs
Are there 4 centering springs ona centennial may tag washer
What is your model number?
I changed the 4 springs and 4 suspension rod. Still with heavy and noisy shaking . Please help ! Thanks
The factory Springs aren't too thick enough to be strong enough to hold the drum centered, bring one to Lowe's with you to use it as a guide to purchase for new Springs all the same length but thicker so they'll be stronger that should solve your problem
You ma need to recalibrate
Sears parts has video

Very useful video! Thanks
Does it matter which side the springs are equipped?
One spring needs to go on all four sides
My whirlpool only had 2 springs on the right side like he showed. There is a spot for them on the left but whirlpool didnt put them there.
Thank you! Very helpful
Thanks helped out a lot saved us money
You're welcome! Glad we could help.
I have an Amana washer. It has only 2 centering springs. Is it ok? Or need to be 4?
