Thank you for the reactions from bands that many in the Rock world wouldn't listen to because they are Christian! And I'm studying English listening to you. A hug from Brazil.

Love this album!! Mike Lee now he’s Michael Driver and has a band named Gale Force. I encourage you to listen to them also. Great voice for sure. His name I believe was Michael Lee Driver. Use to go by Mike Lee, now Michael Driver. I could be wrong but I think that’s correct

Love Barren Cross. My friend would only listen to White Metal so I went to a lot of shows and listened to a lot of them. I saw Barren Cross 8 times in concert. I also saw Bride 8 times. Other bands I saw were Stryper, Bloodgood, WhiteCross, Sacred Warrior, Messiah Prophet and many others such a great time for Christian Metal.

20 year old me didn't like this song when it came out 50 year old me is like "Yea, I should go back and revisit that". LOL Their first few albums were much Rawer and less studio produced and candy.

This album was released in 1989. I liked Barren Cross, I had the album on cassette. It rocks, but it wasn't my favorite album by them.
Yes I saw them live multiple of times, and yes, even on their State of Control tour.
I'm currently trying to rank this album against my other 1989 albums: actually It's doing fairly well. I had or have Bonnie Raitt, KISS, Tom Petty, Bloodgood, Petra, Whitecross, Sacred Warrior, Russ Taff and many others from this year.

Saw Barren Cross in Alton IL. In the very early 1990's. One of the best Rock concerts I ever been too. Right up there with Thousand Foot Krutch, Skillet, and Petra (10) times. Hope they are still touring.

This was good but they have so many better songs. King of Kings...Living Dead...Bigotry Man...Love at Full Volume...Close to the Edge...Heaven or Nothing...Midnight Sun...Deadlock, just off the top of my head. If your listeners aren’t soaking up quality Christian Rock and Metal, well, they might as well be deaf. Turn it up and RAZE(destroy)Hell!!

We appreciate your hard work in bringing these to us. Deadlock is a great song from Atomic Arena. Resurrection Band is an awesome blues hard rock band from Chicago. Sacred Warrior is also worth listening to. They're in the vein of Queensryche. Sacred Warrior's best albums as far as I'm concerned are Rebellion and Masters Command. Resurrection Band: Start with the song Military Man ua-cam.com/video/LJG26mAhRi8/v-deo.html

If memory serves, I think first album Rock for the King got distribution on Alarma Records-- there were, maybe two versions. My CD copy is a re-issue. But I have originals for both _Atomic Arena_ , _State of Control_ , and _Rattle Your Cage_
John and Dino Elefente were pretty much THE rock producers of the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. eventually forming label Pakaderm Records Heads and tails above most what everyone else was doing. They were instrumental in giving Petra their signature sound after departure of long time vocalist Greg X Volz. Booming percussion, tight harmonies, wide soundstage.
    Similar:
    Neon Cross (produced by Dino)
Petra (Produced by John and Dino)
Mastedon (John and Dino's studio group)
    Halo
    X-Sinner
    Guardian
    Fear Not
    The Brave
    Brighton
    Lovewar

Back in 80s I was bigger into the more radio friendly Christian Rock (Whiteheart, Petra, Degarmo and Key) but sure wish I would have gotten more goodies on Barren Cross. Dino and John Elefante had their finger prints on a lot of the Christ Rock back in those days.

Additional comments: Take Resurrection Band for example. They looked more like they belonged in a motorcycle gang than a church. They sang about everything from suicide, child abuse, drug use, apartied, personal struggles and broken homes. They were active from 1972-2000.

Their best album as far as production, image and song writing went... very Maiden however when it came out Metal was moving in two different directions Metalica was breaking and the LA bands were coming out. Christian Metal was going pop, like White Cross and Holy Soldier or Believer and Vengeance Rising as well as the Christian Punk... Scattered few, Crucified and UnderCover as well as Nobody Special. Pretty much bands like Blood Good, Saint and Barnabas kind of just faded away.

Oooooo....Must do Pig!!! Punk Rock at it's finest!!
X-Sinner is an AC-DC style band.
Maybe someday unless someone else gets to it before me I'll request some songs from these two bands.
Barren Cross always had an Iron Maiden feel to me. Maybe because of the vocals. Mike Lee has an amazing vocal style. He now goes by the name Mike Drive and is in a band called Gale Force along with Tracy G formally of Dio.

The only thing that sticks in my mind to this day about Barren Cross is when a couple of the guys were on an episode of The Morton Downey Jr. Show sometime in the late 80's (1988 or 1989??) - they were at the "Loudmouth" lectern and lent some commentary. Other guests were Ace Frehley, Circus of Power, and the Cycle Sluts from Hell....Scott Ian from Anthrax and Joey Ramone were on there, too. I only know a couple of songs by this band and this is one of them....haven't heard for many years and it's a nice jam with a relevant message but it still falls in the "OK" category for me. Oh, and I still get them mixed up with White Cross and Redd Kross...to muddle the waters even further, Redd Kross in my mind is too close to Redd FOXX (RIP) and all I hear is catch phrases from Sanford & Son, e.g. "It's the big one, Elizabeth!" and "Ya big dummy!" 😹
