    On their first three albums, Deliverance’s guitar sound is tough to beat. Super chunky, thrash riffs!

    This song is by far their best song ever

    It cuts off like that because the song goes right into the next track, The Call.
    It's like listening to Postmortem without Raining Blood, it's just one of those things.
    One of my all time favorite albums.

    I actually remember buying this album on tape when it first came out in 89-90 at my local Christian book store when I was a teenager...I wore the hell out of it until the tape warped into a potato chip....Ahhh...those good old Thrash Metal days

    Great album from Deliverance. I have been a fan of them for a long time. That abrupt ending I think was cut at the point where the next song begins; like 2 songs blended together. Though I would agree they should fade out when keeping them separate on Spotify or where ever.

    Here I am a young Mike happily listening to a brand new compilation called California Metal (An all time classic) Plenty of bands on it that I had never heard of. Like Gardian (Before they changed it to Guardian) Neon Cross, Mastedon. Well right after the opening track from Gardian come this pounding bass, drum sound and then what I can only describe as the one of the greatest thrash riffs I had ever heard from the Christian Metal scene. Attack, and I was hooked. I ran out to the local record store but was sadly disappointed that they didn't have an album out. That wouldn't happen for nearly two years but I did get the demo Greeting of Death. And yes that Greeting was a mistake on the cover. It should have been Greetings as there's a song on the demo called Greetings of Death. Apparently if I get this right, Jimmy's girlfriend (now wife) misheard the name and went to print with Greeting of Death. The song Attack changed my world forever.

      Oh I remember those days well. It seemed like it took forever for there to be a new band release. California Metal was where it all started. Oh, and Hot Metal Summer!! Remember those compilations? I sorely miss those days.

      @@4themusicmanI Was At Cornerstone Festival One Year and They Threw Out Some Cassettes! Landing At My feet in the Mud Was Hot Metal Summer V. I Had never Heard of that series until that moment! I was fresh to Anything Rockier Than Petra! But This was a GREAT Year to Get into All the Bands I was FIRST introduced to Deliverance Music through mutual friends as they listened heavily! I was Raised to Believe Some pretty wrong thinking about what music was "Godly" and what was not! So It was NOT easy to really get into so many BUT Deliverance ALWAYS found a place with me Through All of their Stylistic Changes I stuck with them! Just a LOT of Great Memories Even The WAITING for a New Album Drop And THEN for it to ship to the local Christian bookstore (Usually Special Order Because they "NEVER heard of them before!" ) And that Mystery If you will like the other songs or Just be disappointment and out your 12.50 !! (Later 14.95) I Loved that Era And This Generation Could USE some of that Healthy Waiting before they get something once in awhile!! lol God Bless and As they used to say "Faster for the Master!"

    These guys were my jam back in the day but I liked Weapons better than the debut. Both really good. btw, if you have the original presses of this you can get a small mint for them online. Also, Jimmy is very good friends with Eric Clayton of Saviour Machine. I looked and you haven't reacted to them, yet. This is surprising to me bc they have probably been more successful especially in Germany. I would recommend Carnival of Souls and American Babylon to start out.

    This song pretty much cemented my interest in metal. It was on some christian metal compilation my mom bought back in '91 or so, when I was 10. Don't remember anything else on it, but I became obsessed with this song. She liked it, too, and bought the tape, which I wore out. Love this record so much, and although I'm not a christian, I still listen to christian metal a bunch. Some really great stuff if you don't get hung up on lyrics.

    JAMS FOR JESUS! 🤘 This was decent for me! Opening riff reminded me a TEENY bit of a brief instrumental bit X Japan would do before segueing into Phantom of Guilt, way back in their indie days but they would still do it now and again up through the Jealousy era.

    I forgot about the cut-off...yeah it runs into the next song.
    I had probably a 4th generation copy of their "Greetings of Death" demo back in the day...my first tattoo back in 1990 was basically the cover art. Deliverance was my first time hearing "Christian" thrash. I was already into Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica, etc...and the only "heavy" stuff in the Christian realm at the time was probably Saint, Messiah Prophet, Barren Cross, or Bride (early stuff). Then I picked up some cassette tape called California Metal that had Barren Cross on it and no other bands I ever heard of. It was great...then listening to side 2, track 3, Deliverance - "Attack". That song was the official "Holy $h!T" moment in Christian Metal history. There was nothing out at that time that even sounded close to this thrashy goodness. This was a first.
    Also in 1987, there was a festival out in California called Metal Mardi Gras that Deliverance played. People now know who they are and wanted to see them on the VHS video that was put out...but for some reason Deliverance was not on the video....lot of people were bummed!

    When you stated having covered all the Christian metal acts, I'm positive it was just an oversight to not mention Living Sacrifice - Second Death, right Mr Diablo? I know you covered the band, but I've been waiting for your take on that beyond timeless, Satan crushing track. And although the Sunday Morning Mosh was short lived at our church, Second Death was the track that nearly made that happen!
    Do check it out. It both slays AND blesses at the same time....and thats a good feeling sir...Best!

    A couple of corrections; Learn was released in 1993, but the CD mistakingly had a copyright date of 1992 on it so it is often incorrectly listed as coming out in 92 online. Also River Disturbance is most definitely not the bands latest release LOL! That album came out in 1994 between Learn and Camelot. Essentially from 89 to 95 the band put out an album every year. After that Jimmy Brown disbanded the band until putting it back together in 2001 and since then has sporadically released new albums through the 2000s and 2010s. Frankly they were truly a 90s band.. Everything since then has kind of just been Jimmy going "Guess I'll put out some new material for the small but loyal fanbase begging for it."

    Favorite Deliverance album too. Underrated band. I’m not really interested by there Christian trip, that’s just good Thrash Metal to me. I don’t know if these bands like Deliverance, Vengeance Rising or Tourniquet are such underrated because of there Christian lyrics or because they were on really underground labels with bad distribution. But for sure there early albums are all super good ones

    • @4themusicman
      @4themusicman Рік тому +1

      It's both. The message was offensive and the labels were pathetic at marketing, probably because nobody had any money to properly promote these bands. I've heard so many countless stories of how awful these bands were treated and/or stolen from, I'm amazed and thankful we have the albums that we do.

    • @BelieverPatriot
      @BelieverPatriot 9 місяців тому +1

      I Can Say That The "Church" Would not allow it's youth to listen to this music. And "The World" Would not want it so much because of the lyrics. And the Poor Promotion and lack of Funds to distribute and pay All parties involved. Which is why when looking back If you see Maybe Several thousand listeners per month That Was HUGE for it's time! Like these guys (bands like this) Stuck with it and Never saw the money! But, they loved the music and the message! It is a Great untold Story But one which really makes it more valuable in the long run. When Shane Asked "How many Dove Awards have they won?" I Chuckled! So Like Dove Awards RARELY covered the Metal or heavy rock scene The Mainstream exception was Stryper!
      But, That was just the way it was then... Many Bucked the Music as being "Too Worldly" And not an example of how God wanted us to be. Others Just Did not have room for some lesser name band that they barely knew.
      I was in a second hand bookstore searching for EXACTLY Deliverance and Possible Some Tourniquet... I was in there a long time scanning those cassettes! And a couple of long haired dudes came busting in and Immediately Located the Bands I was searching for! I was SO UPSET that they stumbled on them And I was there For So Long. Then One Turned to me and Said "Hey, If you EVER see this label Called INTENSE Records, BUY IT Man! They May be like Christian or whatever BUT they have some of the BEST Music I ever heard!" And As Disappointed as I was....I was Glad they found it. They Probably Really needed that Quality Stuff to jam to. And MAYBE they would spread the word! God Bless You Man!!
