    Kenny is such a likeable man and an excellent narrator, a bit like an old friend really. If just one per cent of his vast mechanical knowledge rubs off on me, I'm hoping I can at least save a few quid at the garage. Cheers old chap.

    It's always good to watch you work, interesting, honest mechanics, lm in the UK 🇬🇧 l have a Citroen xsara picasso, and 18:48 it was showing showing a number of faults problem was brakes were jaming on and everything lit up so alternator showing low charge still showing faults replacement of ERG sensor that monitors emissions solved the problems 😊

    I remember some models had a button in the underhood fuse box to reset the light. I used to hate trying to reset the pedal operated resets.

    That was a good video to teach all vehicle owners to carry the basics (toolkit/scanner) things that don't cost a lot & can get them out of trouble in the middle of nowhere & no cell signal it also is handy to have something to lay on & wet wipes to clean parts & yourself.Cheers.

    Always look for corrosion at the metal contacts when disconnecting connectors.
    For air bag issues try cleaning the disconnected connectors with contact cleaner.
    The cheap yellow connectors can move a little which can cause low voltages from fine dust.
    After cleaning use zip ties to keep the connectors from moving.

    I have a 99 lumina 3.1 and for oil light reset I press the accelerator 3 or 4 times as quick as possible within 7 seconds and it works, I suggest just press your pedal twice as quick once you determine the tps being good, Nice video!

    On a Holden LS1 cable throttle car when changing the throttle position sensor disconnect (or leave disconnected) new sensor, power up the car which will then error, power off, connect sensor, power on and ecu (standard GM ecu) will the recalibrate sensor as you operate the pedal. This allows for some mechanical alignment errors between sensors. Older tech actually had mechanical position adjustment to set matching throttle.

    I got a much similar truck, mine is ‘99 the first year of that design - 4.3 5spd shortbox but mine is RWD, I had similar issues with that tps at one time, I just keep pressing on the throttle hard maybe 5 times and it finally blinks and resets. My display is slightly different as the message appears in the upper left in yellow - I have since replaced that tps despite not really seeing anything wrong with the one that was there. iI ended up having some issues with broken wires in that harness to the tps, map sensor and ignition coil primary feed - and of course the ignition spider living under the intake.
    Overall I found that oil life monitor is pretty accurate, if you do alot of short city drives with warm ups etc, it comes on way sooner that if you are venturing out on long highway trips, I don’t even really pay attention to the mileage anymore, I just do the oil when the monitor says.
    I found the pinging went away when I swapped out the dist ass’y, the original plastic one was pretty ugly I used an aftermarket aluminum one it was like a different engine - I learned when I first got the truck that the 87 octane was not friendly with it and use 89.
    Maybe the fact that the airbag code is set, it is proprietary for the monitor because it is a “safety” code

      @kellismith4329 Рік тому

      He doesn’t have to change the airbag sensors, just,a small device that is mountedto the bottom of the rad support, they get damaged from parking, farm drives etc

    • @kellismith4329
      @kellismith4329 Рік тому

      @@johntaylor4894 yes that may be possibly a drive by wire unit as I didn’t recall seeing the throttle cable under the hood on the throttle body like mine has, the gas pedal itself on that truck migh have an actual electronic encoder attached to the pivoting part.

    I know that the Engine Oil Life reset does not work when the Fuel Level Low message is active.
    It seems the computer can't walk and chew gum at the same time.
    I'm convinced anything active on the driver information system can possibly prevent the oil life monitor from resetting. Except the Service Airbag message. Resets just fine with that message active.

    The trick is to turn the ignition off quickly after the third press of the accelerator. Let it sit abt 5 seconds. Then start the vehicle and cycle to the oil change part in the menu. It should clear. Been my experience.

    Push the lil nob on the IC, scroll till you get to your oil % then Hold it down till it says 100% again. Holding it longer will decrease the % by 10 every tick.

      Low input, power from the computer to the sensor is meeting too much resistance, lowering vsd. If voltage from the computer is 3 volts from the computer before the resistance, you can not get an accurate signal.

    So, you say that you have had this Truck for 5 years and essentially done nothing but change the oil. And yet somehow, you all of a sudden forgot how to reset the Oil Life to 100 % ? You are too spoiled by that fancy-dancy Snappy Scan Tool. After waiting for the bells & whistles to stop the light and sound show after turning the Ignition switch to the KOEO position, press the Accelerator Pedal 5 times in 10 seconds, then turn off the Ignition Switch for 30 seconds. Also, OBDII Scan Tools will NEVER clear Faults with the Engine Running. Ain't gonna happen ! They will ONLY clear in the KOEO position. THAT is a fact !🤑
