I want to thank you for your video! I had dropped my phone and spider-web shattered the back glass. My provider wanted $150 for a refurbished SGS9 (I have the monthly warranty, which does not cover glass break due to dropping it), and I didn't want a different model (I love my SGS9). So I found and watched your video, then went out and bought a new back from Amazon, which came with the tools and self-adhesive, as well as a new case that was protective up to a 15-foot drop (I train and ride horses), and installed it. It did take me 50 minutes because the shattering along the edges made it a little more difficult to get the old back off, but once that was accomplished, finishing the job was easy! Glad I also had a hair blow-drier...I can imagine it would have been MUCH harder without one! HA! Not bad for this 57 year old cowgirl!
I recently cracked the back of my phone badly should i try this i really don't wanna drop 150 for a new one.

Is it possible to get ones that are like fake glass/plastic so it doesn't break easily or is that worse?
What temperature would you recommend using the heat gun? I got a little fed up with a standard hairdryer but have access to a heat gun
Can also use playing cards instead of multiple plastic pry tools. Plastic cards will break through the heated adhesive and prevent resticking to the phone all while bending to the curvature of the phone to decrease the chances of it breaking.
What do i do with the green layer on the back of the glass ? do i peel it and put the rear glass on the phone ?

No you also lose your warranty
if you did it right it will, if you didnt it wont. the warranty goes away because they cant promise that you didnt screw it up

Would my carrier be able to to tell if I did this with an oem part? Trying to avoid a damage fee when I turn mine in.
There's a small material inside the phone that turns a certain color when the phone has been water damaged. They check for that, so I'm sure they would notice something has been done to the glass.
@@quport99 Why would they open the phone up if it works pdrfectly fine? It would lose its water resistance so it would not make any sense except if the phone wasnt working

About what temperature should the surface be to the touch when removing the back glass? I've never don't this before but am very mechanically inclined and confident. I just want to do it right the first time.

Luís Fernando Souza yes you should be able to just the same. If I remember correctly you can just take the lens out without removing the back cover.
