Watching you riff with other creators is super entertaining. You've become famous for your highly technical, succinct, gear reviews, but I think you're next phase is showing us more of your personality in a more informal, off the cuff, no-script format. Nice job! I shoot weddings so I often will go 8 hours holding a heavy gimbal rig. Never need to go to the gym again haha

I don't care about cameras or anything you're reviewing, but I still enjoy watching your vids. Started the rabbit hole with the LTT studio tech tour and now I'm just enjoying watching people nerd out on camera tech.
THANK YOU for the tip on the audio sync! 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻, I also sync manually just to make sure it's perfect! I shoot on 25fps and record on a computer and I thought I was mad for thinking that the sync can be off. I'll definitely try adjusting the speed of the audio track by mili-percentages (if that's even a word)! Don't think we'd make a great team, we're both too perfectionistic, no video will ever leave the editing room haha. Great tour!

17:40 - I've always suffered from audio drift issues too... but have you ever considered using timecode/genlock since you have a pretty static studio setup? Right now my equipment doesn't support it, but I'm considering that feature on my next round of camera/recorder upgrades.
It figure it would save *that* much time in post, especially if you switch cameras in the future (sometimes even the same model can drift a few frames per hour!).
@@svenlakemeier What I mean is externally-generated timecode, maybe also genloc (depending on needs and equipment). Audio sync in post is just a super annoying task that doesn't take too much time once, but adds up over years.
This was so delightfully quirky. I miss the Studios Undone videos and am so happy that Josh was able to pull one over on Gerald. You two are such fantastic nerdy humans and I love you both.
I have come away very well informed on how the dynamic range is calculated.
This was a fun watch. You both seem like good people. On my non existent budget it turns out I am doing things the Gerald Undone way.. ie lots of claps and jump cuts, albeit I am still working on the freezing aspect. Also light my background very similarly. Just the lights are much..much cheaper.

That audio drifting issue is sooo underrated... Ever since switching to using Timecode and jamming everything with Tentacle Sync-E generators, I haven't been looking back!
On which cameras? I noticed the Sony cameras has Timecode inside the menu but I've never seen anyone use it.
Be nice if Sony added proper functionality (focus breathing comp for example) to the A1, being the flagship and all. As well as the a7S III.

Setting the playback to 100.004% to ensure audio syncs up, is the detail level that makes this guy, the guy to subscribe to.
Gerald, the attention and passion that you have for detail makes me feel at home. The way you experimented with the lenses and modified your audio speed had me ready to head over for a chat

Fun fact about the 100,004% sync technique! I have though about it, but never tried. I don't shoot 2 hours, and let Resolves automagic sync handle it.
