- As a UA-camr who reviews tech, I receive a lot of strange and funny review requests that often don't even make sense to my channel.

13:15 I’m still hereee
Still here as well
Yep!
still here, stuck... send help
Yep, that camera crop to [X] was so dramatic! ;p
YO TAMBIEN
My biggest fear is when ChatGPT starts to make these emails sound more human than the supposedly human written ones we get now
WOW...didn't even think of that. Yes, that tech is scary. There is no putting the toothpaste back in the tube with that tech.
Just set up another chatGPT account to reply to them all. Check back in 6 months and see how those conversations have evolved; maybe they'll have moved on to the meaning of life and solved some of society's most pressing issues....???
All the emails in this episode sounded like they were written by ChatGPT from 2020.
was this comment written by ChatGPT? hm...
Seth Godin made that point in his blog today, and had an interesting idea that's basically postage stamps for email.
Gerald Undone has sanity slowly undone by strange emails.
Bumm bumm Gerald Undone bum bum bum he's actually going crazyyy
Any time you talk about non camera things, I pay close attention. You can be quite funny and it really shines when not in your normal groove. Thanks for sharing and I did watch all the way to the end.
FULLY
This was too good 😂😂😂 I’ll never understand the mind set of “I’m gonna tear your channel apart and then hope you’re gonna work with me” such a terrible approach LOL
😂
The pants kept in the cabinet only get worn when visitors come around.
These emails almost always start with 'Hello dear," haha!! SO many requests for ebikes, I thought it was because I make ebike videos, but I hear anyone with a UA-cam channel gets these ebike requests!!
Can confirm. I receive these every day. Had one "company" send me a digital press kit containing a Windows screensaver file (which undoubtedly contained something nefarious).
My favorite is when the email talks about how they love my content and that we're be a good match but but it literally opens up with "Hello [insert name of other youtuber]" lol like- they got a little too crazy with the ctrl+c ctrl+v and forgot to even change the name 💀
11:44 You're not alone, Gerald. The whole "why didn't I think of this *before* I started filming?" thing happens midway through the shoot sometimes. Way to turn the bogus emails into content--I might have to try that sometime lol. Your outro cracked me up, have a good Friday!
Bro, the non camera videos are the most fun. You are fun, we dont watch you because of the jibber jabber tech talk - YOU ARE FUN! START HAVING FUN YOURSELF - we will follow!
I absolutely HATE it when I order something and the cord is too short and it's too sticky.
Even being a small channel, my inbox looks precisely the same! Sometimes they'll grab a random video of mine, utterly unrelated to what product they're pumping, to make the email look more legit, lol
You're right.. Genuine reviews highlight the real issues. Who wants things that are all sticky? Not me.... except for sticky tape.
Now I need a 24h livestream of Gerald filming a robot vacuum
"What's the criteria?"
Oh, you've got pulse and you are breathing.
“Tried it. Worked okay. Cords too short and it’s sticky. 3.5 stars”
13:00 your creativity doesn't stop... I watched the whole video and it was great. Thank you for being Gerald!
I get a couple of emails like this a day and there are so many clear markers that I have in my mind that mean a straight delete. I always think to myself, how hard can it be to sort out these minor layout, language and presentation problems to get so many more people to pay attention.....yet they still drip through.
I've gotten scams too, my channels also about cameras. If I am going to except something, It needs to sound like it's from a legitimate company and relevant to my channel, I'm not personally going to review something that appears to be garbage! Great Video!
Thats pure gold. I have seen some of those same offers and many others that are similar. I make blacksmithing videos, why would I review womens fashion, meal kits or home security systems. But the ones I really love the ones that never actually tell you what their product is.
I have existential questions during multiple parts of every single video I make 😅 I always get excited with an idea first, then I start working on it and about 1/3 of the way I think "this is the worst one yet, probably better to cancel it". But then I continue because I'm already behind schedule, then the same thing happens 2 more times and at the end the most satisfying thing is the fact that I don't have to watch it anymore. 🙈
But for what it's worth, this was well worth the entire watch, especially the last bit 😛
100%. Not having to watch my own video ever again after editing is most delightful.
Can 100% confirm there are some goofy arse emails for products that are sent. Probably 80%+ like these here or some sort of malware
These emails make me laugh so much! We get so many of these types of emails and it's hilarious to see what weird stuff they want to send.
I completely lost it when you said: "and that other guy was top level existence" 😂
Aaaah, Gerald, you have such an amazing sense of humor. I appreciate your top level existence reviews, but your humor is a great long term partner!
that was a journey, forever will it be in my memories.
All this Camera tech and Banana Talk, What about Soap! lol
Watching you talk about anything is entertaining. Glad you shared this one. Thank you.
I'm still here Gerald. I'm still watching. 13:04 😎
What are you doing? You are exploring and expanding your art style, and giving us joy in the process. I have loved your departure from the rigid video structure you used to follow. Love the contents, man. They make me happy.
This was fun! I can't imagine being a content creator and having to wade through the massive amount of these ridiculous email messages you must get.
The ending was the best part. I have done this and continue to do it!
I write for a tech news website, and can absolutely confirm, we get piles of offers to review the most pointless and absurd junk. Some of it would make the late night informercials look good.
Yep… stayed to the end (on Nebula). I liked the thoughtful tone… and “cameras” inserted every now and then.
"Hey, nice Trouser Rack", said no man to another man ever.
In the UK, I'd keep my trousers in the wardrobe, or in a chest of drawers. Not really a cabinet, that sounds strangely fancy to me
That ending was perfect, since I was busy editing my own video, and then procrastinated by watching your video, and ended up watching into the space...
"I review camera gear and sometimes bananas." And sometimes robot vacuum people are obsessed with you.
This was actually very insightful, especially the fact about paid Amazon "reviews". Thanks Gerald.
I just stood up and applauded when you pressed the cross button in the end. That was a fun video and a fun little introspect.
🤣🤣🤣 I have daydreamed about making this same video for a while now! I don't think I could've been as funny as you were!
I'm just a photographer with a website, not a social media presence at all, and even I get that SEO spam virtually every day. :D
You can blame Phillip Bloom for the Robot Vacuum. He didn't (and wouldn't) spam you but he IS trying to breed them at his place.
As a Fellow UA-camr, I feel your pain😂
Apparently, thousands of people who have about 2 followers know the secret to getting 10,000 subs a day - crap like that ALL DAY LONG LOL
We even get Dysons all at once sometimes
The end of this was great, lol. Another vacuum!!??🤣
I don't even care if you review camera stuff, I just come for the laughs.✅
That ending was 100% the best part of the video, lol.
Funny - I was watching this video on my phone. When you’d gone off on a tangent at the end I’d walked away to the other side of the kitchen and you said ‘is anyone still there?!’ 😅
8:30 Fun fact: opinion leader is a reverse translation of influencer. Considering the rest of the email, it seems like someone's been using Google Translate to compose it :)
Honestly dude you are me if I were more talented, and Canadian.
We think the same way about the same things... and that zoom out at the end, showing the Da Vinci Resolve timeline... so good.
Loved the closing. I may have to steal (I mean borrow) it!
When the Canon r50 was released, I went looking on UA-cam for review videos. Every other video was a thumbnail of girls in bikinis and a robot voice talking about that camera specs. What the heck, this doesn't seem like the type of product to gather that kind of attention.
I always keep my pants in my kitchen cabinet hanging on a trouser rack. Geesh, who doesn't 🙂 Fun video Gerald.
4:43 The funny thing is that this company is trying to lecture you about how to gain viewers, while they are doing such a bad job at getting clients! Someone should send them an email lecturing them about how to get clients.
We're always watching Gerald. Someone hurry and make a new lens Gerald is getting board hahahaha
Chef's kiss to that ending.
On the floor laughing!!!😂😂😂😂
Since I knew it wasn't a 'review,' you were my entertainment during lunch! But what no "I'm done" ending? Still waiting on your review of Josh Yeo Orbit!
Well... now that you mention it, a robot vacuum does sound kind of cool. Put a camera on the top and use it as a floor slider I guess.
That fake Sigma email was the best juice of entertainment I've had in years 😂
Do a robo vacuum video. Add some cats, dogs, and even other robo vacuums. Put it next to stairs, other hazards. Could be interesting. :)
We get many of the same emails on my wife’s craft channel. Sometimes their use of English is hilarious! Great fun video Gerald! 😂
I do audio gear reviews on my channel. I have gotten asked to review diaper bags… THREE TIMES. 😂
Indeed if one is not prepared wastes a lot of time before realizing that this is not how it works, you were right to talk about it. Thank you.
"It's too sticky" Yes, that is a good review.
that purple light.. could look great behind an interview with a 50 at 2!
Well played sir. As someone with half a dozen half edited videos on the burner, I understand the ending all too well.
Please keep saving these for a round 2
I, myself, aspire to top level existence. Been working at it. Every day. I've been told I still have a ways to go. In the meantime, I really would like to see you test out cameras on a variety of robot vacuums. That would be bananas!
Absolutely hilarious! Thanks. Except I can't hear you because my $600 robot vac is making too much noise cleaning the lint off of my trousers, currently on the rack set to horizontal on the floor.
My channel is mostly drone stuff but I received an offer to review an aluminum can crusher. My wife and I had a good laugh at that one! Like you, I did think about doing something funny with it but didn't like the idea of the waste. PS The 24 hour robot vacuum livestream would probably be oddly compelling!
The end killed me. I'm watching my Gerald 🤓
11:04 - really trying to figure out what kind of product you're describing here 😆
😂😂
Wasn't expecting Gerald to pull off a Charlie Kaufman in the end.
Oh man... Ive saved about 400 emails over the last year. Definitely some scams in that pile. Maybe it's time for a good laugh! 😝
I was there to the end with you buddy! I can't believe the scam product emails I get and I'm a small channel. You probably need to hire someone just to go through your emails.
Wow you have patience to even look at the bizarre emails… but thank you; cracked me up!
Ok. 1) hands down best video you’ve ever made sorry not sorry. 2) I need you to review all these products. Do the 24 hr live stream robot vacuum. Weirdos will watch.
I just cleared down my inbox, then saw this video pop up. The déjà vu is strong, but it's weirdly reassuring to know everyone gets this random nonsense. Just reading some of the emails is enough to give you a brain aneurysm.
I came here looking for pickle ball reviews… Nothing. I’m taking my top level existence as an Amazon reviewer elsewhere… ⭐️⭐️
Try being a retired network manager and technical writer, with a completely unused degree in computer science. Apparently, I'm a perfect potential candidate for every job from magazine editor to satellite engineer. I haven't worked in any of my fields for over a decade, yet I still get several emails requesting updated resumes per week. In the past 20 years, I think I have only received ONE "offer" for a job that even remotely matched my resume.
Thoroughly enjoyed every second of this video! Also great job on SEO for putting hashtags in the description! #funny
In the UK we hang our trousers in the Wardrobe just in case anyone needed to know that !? 😮
This is great, Gerald! 😂 Thanks for making us laugh but also, thank you for sharing the reality of phishing emails. It’s a wild world out here on the net 🙏 be safe!
I see you are a G502 fanboy. Same
The ending was the best part lol. So true
I'm definitely getting the trouser rack, thanks for the endorsement 😉
Three minutes in and so many great ideas already :D The livestream sounds rad, and honestly that trouser rack is not a terrible product judging by the photos...
As far as doubting my work goes I keep reviving the tiny George Lucas in my head that says "It's gonna look great - it'll be great." The more I work on bigger projects that look like nothing good somewhere in the process, the more I get why he kept saying that. You just have to have blind faith in order to *make* it great.
SJCam is actually a pretty good manufacturer of GoPro clones of sorts. Not really represented well by that email :D
Stayed through the credits, was waiting for the post credit scene!
Would you do a Music Library comparison video? Maybe in line of the series of reviewing sponsors? Every creator seems to just plug the music library that sponsors them and it's hard to find an objective review of all of them compared. Thanks, Gerald!
Actually SJ Cam used to be pretty good back in the days (5-7 years ago) well till DJI picked up the pace
You didn't optimise the banana video for search? Shocking
LOL I get so many emails like those in my work inbox every day. It's so annoying. Yeah, Amazon has become so incredibly shady. I rarely purchase anything from that site now and really hate supporting that company.
OMG, I just bought a $25 star projector light thingy.... reminded me of an H2O light but not $200 bucks. In fact, I'm looking at it right now, wondering why you said 👎 no?
New title, "This Video is Top Level Existence"
I watched all the way through. Thank you. I needed a good chuckle!
Do the trouser press, baby!
