Making a Baby Rattle

Demonstration of how I made a few baby rattles from Maple & Walnut and also Hawiaan Acacia (Koa) wood using a wood lathe. I used popcorn kernels inside a drilled hole. Many possibilities for different shaped baby rattles. I finished my rattle with food safe butcher block conditioner, which is made up of beeswax and mineral oil.

I make mine from a block measuring about 3" x 1.5" x 1.5".

What size hole do you drill? How many kernels of corn do you use?

@@matthewmccord4175 I believe I drilled a 7/8” hole and used about 10 kernels of corn. I have switched to using bb’s for my baby rattles, they make more noise.
