It isn't covered in the anime or manga (only the novels), but Ginjo is completely justified in his hatred of Soul Society and belief that the pass is a great betrayal. Basically, Ginjo was betrayed by a royal, who used the pass to track him and disrupt his powers long enough to kill his friends and family, but he failed to kill Ginjo. Prior to this, Ginjo actually was loyal to Soul Society, so the betrayal came out of nowhere to him, and he doesn't realize that it wasn't Soul Society itself that backstabbed him--it was just one royal (who is actually the same royal that killed Tousen's friend).

This not being covered in the manga is a gigantic oversight. Or maybe Ginjo's back story was only added on the novels because they haven't thought about it yet when doing the manga.

The whole thing with Byakuya having the resolve to kill Tsukishima isn't because he's stone cold. Even though Tsukishima altered his memories to make him a key figure in his life, Byakuya did not hesitate to kill him because he is Ichigo's enemy. Meaning that his respect and bond with Ichigo is stronger than anything Tsukishima could forge. It's another display of how much Byakuya's character has grown throughout the series.
damn byakuya was truly grateful to ichigo, he was ready to let rukia die even tho her wife asked him to protect her. Byakuya was torn between his duty and love for his family and no matter what he chose between the 2 he'd still regret it, ichigo saved him from that.
Basically, if Ichigo wasn't useful to Soul Society, they would kill him. That's why the captains and lieutenants left as soon as they witnessed Ichigo's "decision", if he decided to stay by Ginjo's side, they would have to kill him.

Ginjo WAS betrayed by the Soul Society from his perspective. But it IS true that a Shinigami killed his friends. Ginjo never made a move against the Soul Society until he was betrayed. The combat pass is used to keep constant tabs on the Substitute Shinigami so they can deal with them whenever they feel they need to Toshiro, Byakuya, Kenpachi, Ikkaku, and Renji came to the Living World because they were supposed to dispose of both Ichigo and Ginjo
Also during that thing happened, Ginjo's power has been controlled by his combat pass, which is why he hates that function that much, making him powerless to protect his people.

Ginjo wasn't even betrayed "from his perspective". He _was_ betrayed. Like, that's the key thing a lot of people miss with this. There are two perspectives going on here: Pre- and Post-Ichigo. Ichigo changed Soul Society and their ways. The Soul Society was RUTHLESS and actually kind of relentlessly evil to a certain degree. Are we quick to forget that Soul Society murdered most if not all of the Quincy? You can argue it was justified based on how they literally destroy hollows instead of cleansing them to be put back into the cycle, but murder and genocide is still murder and genocide. Hell, have we forgotten that Aizen was able to trick the entirety of the Soul Society by utilizing their mistrust and separation from each other? I mean, someone mentioned it during the Rescue Rukia arc: why would they put Rukia up for death for her transgression of transferring power??? Yes it was a felony, but their blind following and inability to trust and reach out to others within the Court Guard were what lead to Aizen being able to manipulate everyone. Literally, Ichigo made them realize that. Realize what they were doing was wrong. He is, objectively, the reason that his situation with the Combat Pass didn't pan out the same like Ginjo. In fact, next episode explains why the captains came to the Living World. They were to see Ichigo's choice, and dispose of them both if he chose to join Ginjo. That's why Rukia freaked out saying Ichigo would never, because he WAS helping Ginjo originally. Granted he had his memories altered, but the Soul Society didn't know that.
the reason the combat pass stuff is bad is because it is given to people thought to be "beneficial" to the SS. they track you and control you so that when you are no longer beneficial they can dispose of you immediately, hence why they sent captain level fighters to watch ichigos choice
it also meant that any time at all when ichigo was having trouble SS never helped, especially during the whole fullbringer arc, and to expand on that i took it as ginjo was betrayed brutally, since he thought the pass as something as benficial to SS but then why did Ginjo turn with that reason when he believed in them ? Its because the SS knew everything and did something despicable and betrayed him while he still belived in SS which caused this Betrayal from the Pass to be a dirty trick and they abused him.
People hate the fullbring arc, but It's my favorite arc. It's his spiderman story, once you feel power and responsibility you can't go back to normal life. But it was also meant to be a reboot of Ichigos character, acting like the first arc of the show, showcasing Ichigo's raw character and how it has changed, as well as changed soul society! Also his fullbring symbolizes the refinement of his hollow powers(putting his mask on his body after learning to manipulate spiritual pressure better from Ginjo)!!!
This is outside of the anime/TYBW. Ginjo has a great reason for being pissed that a power absorber and geotracker was placed on him without his knowledge and as if it was a badge of honor. His anger is justified but misplaced.
The bond progress between ichigo and byakuya is notorious, however, he wouldn't be there if it wasn't because he was ordered to. Orihime despite having a different reality and "loves" another person feels that something is wrong. That is loyalty and pure love. I am very excited to see the reactions to tybw🙏🏻
I think the combat pass being bugged was important because if Soul Society deemed Ichigo to be a threat, he would have been thrown in the "maggots nest" prison where people have not committed a crime but will live the rest of there life. That kind of power is scary to think about. No crime has been committed but you go to jail for life.🙃🤣

7:50 you're missing the importance of what byakuya is saying there. Long explanation if you aren't interested in reading. It doesn't have anything to do with byakuya seemingly allowing Rukia to die. It's that he owes more to ichigo than he does to tsukushima despite tsukushima's power being so potent. Byakuya didn't want Rukia to be killed but at the same time he couldn't really save her himself. 1. Because he wasn't powerful enough 2. Because he would be not only destroying his own life (assuming he wasn't killed) but his entire families loves (byakuya is nobility and therefore his entire family would probably be troubled by his actions if not flat out cast out of their positions). When Byakuya initially fights Ichigo in SS (when they're on that bridge trying to break Rukia out) and yoruichi comes and saves him. Yoruichi and Byakuya play "tag" with flash step and Byakuya is easily keeping up with her. At one point she jumps away and says she wants a "truce" and "I will make this boy stronger in just 3 days" and jumps away with byakuya just standing there despite showing he can keep up with her. Ukitake comes over and says "byakuya!? Aren't you going to go after them?!?" Byakuya responds "you can if you want... I've lost interest". This hints at byakuya WANTING ichigo to get stronger. He sees ichigo as a potential "savior". Someone that could get strong enough and isn't held down by the rules of soul society. He is desperately hoping someone else arrives to save Rukia. And ichigo does. I think it explains it At some point but Rukia resembles his former wife who died. He/His family took her in even though she was from the slums. He cares for her more than anything else (even if he doesn't say/show it). She is basically his world and because Ichigo saved her when he himself couldn't, he owes Ichigo everything. THAT is why him saying that to tsukushima at that point is so important. It's one of the few big steps we see byakuya take in his character development throughout the series. He starts with him only seeing Ichigo as trash to seeing him as someone he can put his full trust in. He also says something when Ichigo leaves hueco Mundo to karakura town that also shows his development. And then in the thousand year blood war we see the final stage where he directly says to ichigo how much he trusts him. Truly one of if not the best character developments in the series.

I personally find it really interesting character wise that Ginjo basically tries to recruit Ichigo still, cuz you'd expect him to just try to kill him, but no. It makes me think that Ginjo does actually want Ichigo as one of his allies/friends. He's probably the only other person in the world that could truly empathize with Ginjo, but since he hasn't been betrayed by the "Soul Society" like Ginjo was, he ultimately can't. Ginjo is actually really tragic. The same Noble that killed Tosen's friend used the combat pass as part of a plan to slaughter all of Ginjo's friends and family. Ginjo never found out it was just a Noble though, so he blames all of Soul Society. Which, from a certain perspective, it really kinda is their fault. No one should be allowed to get away with that shit once, and yet that noble was allowed to ruin TWO people's lives, maybe more. It's a real failure on Soul Society's part. Not enough to warrant Ginjo blaming the entire system, but it's understandable he'd do so with such an unacceptable lack of information. Soul Society may LOOK impressive, but if one thing is for sure, it's that their communication skills are anything but. Left this man to seethe for God knows how long without ever clearing up the misunderstanding.
Ginjo did get betrayed by the Soul Society tho. His People got killed by Shinigami. The soul society isn't all sunshine & rainbows it's a very morally grey & grimey afterlife off screen.

I like this Fullbring Arc, because this arc is more focused on Ichigo and about his goal in life to protect others especially close people. Usually like other anime’s such as Naruto or My hero academia the main character is already telling from first episode what their dream or goal want to become in the future. But Ichigo never talked about on previous arcs his dream or goal, he didn’t have time to think because of a lot of things happened. Becoming Substitute Soul Reaper, saving Rukia, rescue Orihime, and then saving his city from Aizen. Long story short it’s good Arc. By the way if you guys going to watch Bleach Thousand Year Blood War, I recommend to not watch opening. Watch it after final episode of the Season 1.

Ginjo has a solid reason to be this way but he's aiming it at the wrong people. It's certain nobles who wrong him in the past but he thinks it was the Soul Society. I won't say much because there's a chance they put into the anime from the light novels. But it isn't in the manga and most likely you'll never see it unless you read DFYOW light novels. It's the anime fault for trimming important details that lead to this so please don't blame Kubo or the main story. Theirs a list of stuff I could tell you that would help explain certain things. Example. Shu's power also allows him to be granted the strength of some he's pretending to be. He said he trained Byakuya so he's the level now to be his trainer.
I think part of Ginjo's problem with Soul Society is that they were really scummy before Ichigo came, they failed him (i think it's explain in the novel so i don't say more incase they're adapted one day but it's a shame it wasn't explain in the manga/anime) and i don't know if Ginjo is aware of the change in the Soul Society. If not, i see why i tried to gaslight Ichigo Anyways, fire reaction as always 🔥

Looks like the power up Ginjo got from stealing part of ichigo's fullbring had diminishing returns, just enough to keep up with him in base form, but fell behind quickly once he went into Bankai. I don't understand the hate for this arc, it's not the best, but it still has its great moments and it also explains how Ichigo got his powers back. SS suppressing and monitoring Ichigo's spiritual pressure is honestly not a big deal in my mind, it's normal for SS to do that to any captain class soul reaper in the world of the living, so I don't see why Ichigo would be any different, not to mention that Ichigo is awful at controlling his spiritual pressure and the reason SS puts seals on captain class soul reapers is to prevent them from affecting the world of the living (which I'm sure Ichigo was doing constantly and only adding more work for SS to deal with)
The combat pass is basically the "Gentei Kaijo" which limits captain level individuals from harming the world of the living. It makes perfect sense, although it could have been used better to actually communicate with the SS, like a radio.
The only real L of this arc is NOT explaining Ginjou's backstory. But think about the implications of what it means that they can shut off your spiritual pressure whenever they want. Think about all the people you love who could be hurt as a result of you not having your powers at a crucial moment because Soul Society decided to turn them off. Without outside materials, we don't know exactly what Soul Society did to Ginjou, but it was heinous enough for him to turn on them. Honestly, it's a huge screw up that all of this wasn't included in the manga. To americans who are always being spied on and surveilled, merely being watched doesn't seem like a big deal lol.
The thing is that the soul society aren’t good people lol 😂, like they are better then the bad guys, but that’s cause we have been on their side for now. It may not seem like a problem now, but remember they came and got rukia to kill her, and they genocided the Quincies, and then they lied to Ichigo even though he risked his life for them. What happens if they come after ichigos friends and he try’s to stop them? They just get to kill him? For what reason, what if they do something Ichigo just can’t go along with, now you see why Ginjo was so mad, instead of being trusted he was being watched, and then they betrayed him, and was ready to throw him away. I doubt anyone wouldn’t have a problem with that.

I enjoy this arc but man, I wish they had actually gone fully into the Ginjo’s story here. It practically makes no sense given the little context they give us. Having to hear how juicy the backstory is from other people who read the novels is such a shame. Unrelated note: Ichigo’s post-fullbring Bankai looks clean asf.
The things about this arc. -we ended last season with the win against a multi-arcs mega mastermind vilain aka Aizen. -its followed by an arc where the mc is back to square one, more mature and serious. - mc gets destroyed emotionnally -there is a weird feeling all season long because of the storyline (manipulation, tsukishima,etc). Its not fights on fights. -And the biggest issue, the anime ENDED on that arc. It makes a weak ending compared to Aizen. I personnaly like it a lot, Rukia's comeback as everyone is against Ichigo is awesome storytelling. And never forget: Ichigo's power is Resolve.
The only even slightly important part of Ginjo's rant was that the combat pass ALSO controls ichigos spiritual pressure. So hypothetically, they could just nerf him into the dirt and kill him with essentially no trouble. But again, seems relatively fair to me. I could see how someone essentially having a plan to assassinate you could seem like a betrayal to some though. Especially to people as straight forward and loyal as ichigo. But yeah, this plot point was always just a teensy bit weak.

The fact that you guys don't understand why it is such a problem that soul society is basically spying on Ichigo is just sad. Saying something like "If you don't betray them, you have notion to worry about" is like the cops saying "if you haven't done anything wrong, there is no reason to not let us search your house". What happens if at some point soul society does something ichigo can't agree with? What if soul society becomes the bad guys? What if soul society decides to kill one of his friends. You know, EXACTLY like they did with Rukia? How would be save them again under those circumstances with that combat pass? He wouldn't be able to. How is Ichigo a problem? What rules did he break? Who did he kill? What right would soul society have to keep him under 24/7 surveillance like he was a convicted criminal? None. The fact that you guys are "used to" bring spied on all the time doesn't mean it is a good thing or something that should be tolerated. It is a slippery slope to authoritarian tyranny. The fact is that Ichigo would have been angry if what Ginjo was saying was true. The ONLY reason Ichigo was not angry was because he realized Ukitake warned him about it.

So since we are at the tail end and I am aware of you guys have already watched TYBW want to put some thoughts out now: As a person that read this arc and skipped the anime version, I am glad you did go over it. Watching it with you lot is my first time watching this arc in the anime and your reaction made this barable. That being said I still hate this arc😆 This is the most cannon filler storytelling I have ever witnessed. Even more so, with hindsight into future events. This is an arc that started off interesting but loses itself in the middle stretches. My biggest issue is it repeats a lot of things that has already been done in Bleach, and in my opinion done better.
It’s so crazy how so many ppl try to over exaggerate the ginjo speech, it’s literally his failed attempt at trying to convince the soul society giving him the pass was bad but looks like it worked on some viewers💀💀, the soul reapers literally just came to save ichigo from his dire situation and the combat pass makes sense to give, it would be dumb to not give ichigo one considering how strong he is, and it’s obvious the captains and lieutenants had to actual plans to kill ichigo and just came to help him, it’s literally even stated

It isn't covered in the anime or manga (only the novels), but Ginjo is completely justified in his hatred of Soul Society and belief that the pass is a great betrayal. Basically, Ginjo was betrayed by a royal, who used the pass to track him and disrupt his powers long enough to kill his friends and family, but he failed to kill Ginjo. Prior to this, Ginjo actually was loyal to Soul Society, so the betrayal came out of nowhere to him, and he doesn't realize that it wasn't Soul Society itself that backstabbed him--it was just one royal (who is actually the same royal that killed Tousen's friend).
ya Ginjou was objectively done really dirty & well it's not his fault he doesn't know which particular Noble pulled the strings for all this so he lays it heavily on Juushirou's shoulders. *I won't say his name to not be spoilery ofc lol
This not being covered in the manga is a gigantic oversight. Or maybe Ginjo's back story was only added on the novels because they haven't thought about it yet when doing the manga.

The whole thing with Byakuya having the resolve to kill Tsukishima isn't because he's stone cold. Even though Tsukishima altered his memories to make him a key figure in his life, Byakuya did not hesitate to kill him because he is Ichigo's enemy. Meaning that his respect and bond with Ichigo is stronger than anything Tsukishima could forge. It's another display of how much Byakuya's character has grown throughout the series.
damn byakuya was truly grateful to ichigo, he was ready to let rukia die even tho her wife asked him to protect her. Byakuya was torn between his duty and love for his family and no matter what he chose between the 2 he'd still regret it, ichigo saved him from that.

Basically, if Ichigo wasn't useful to Soul Society, they would kill him. That's why the captains and lieutenants left as soon as they witnessed Ichigo's "decision", if he decided to stay by Ginjo's side, they would have to kill him.

But it's the aftermath of complete eradication of Quincy race which was a decision taken by higher ups( n most likely Yamaji) that I have a personal problem with. N then of course the whole scenario related to Tosen's friend who was killed n also Ginjo's reason for having issues with Soul society. These r the things that makes Soul society as a typical Government order. I have absolutely no sympathy regarding the Ywach case no matter what his reasons are. It's like me as an Indian feeling hatred for all the British people who don't even know their true history n I decided to take revenge. That's an unjustified reason. The novels says that Soul Society killed all Ginjo's homies. Ginjo thinks that is because Ukitake orders. They didn't explain this in the anime.

Ginjo WAS betrayed by the Soul Society from his perspective. But it IS true that a Shinigami killed his friends. Ginjo never made a move against the Soul Society until he was betrayed. The combat pass is used to keep constant tabs on the Substitute Shinigami so they can deal with them whenever they feel they need to
Toshiro, Byakuya, Kenpachi, Ikkaku, and Renji came to the Living World because they were supposed to dispose of both Ichigo and Ginjo
Also during that thing happened, Ginjo's power has been controlled by his combat pass, which is why he hates that function that much, making him powerless to protect his people.

Ginjo wasn't even betrayed "from his perspective". He _was_ betrayed. Like, that's the key thing a lot of people miss with this. There are two perspectives going on here:
Pre- and Post-Ichigo.
Ichigo changed Soul Society and their ways. The Soul Society was RUTHLESS and actually kind of relentlessly evil to a certain degree. Are we quick to forget that Soul Society murdered most if not all of the Quincy? You can argue it was justified based on how they literally destroy hollows instead of cleansing them to be put back into the cycle, but murder and genocide is still murder and genocide.
Hell, have we forgotten that Aizen was able to trick the entirety of the Soul Society by utilizing their mistrust and separation from each other? I mean, someone mentioned it during the Rescue Rukia arc: why would they put Rukia up for death for her transgression of transferring power??? Yes it was a felony, but their blind following and inability to trust and reach out to others within the Court Guard were what lead to Aizen being able to manipulate everyone.
Literally, Ichigo made them realize that. Realize what they were doing was wrong. He is, objectively, the reason that his situation with the Combat Pass didn't pan out the same like Ginjo.
In fact, next episode explains why the captains came to the Living World. They were to see Ichigo's choice, and dispose of them both if he chose to join Ginjo. That's why Rukia freaked out saying Ichigo would never, because he WAS helping Ginjo originally. Granted he had his memories altered, but the Soul Society didn't know that.
the reason the combat pass stuff is bad is because it is given to people thought to be "beneficial" to the SS. they track you and control you so that when you are no longer beneficial they can dispose of you immediately, hence why they sent captain level fighters to watch ichigos choice

it also meant that any time at all when ichigo was having trouble SS never helped, especially during the whole fullbringer arc, and to expand on that i took it as ginjo was betrayed brutally, since he thought the pass as something as benficial to SS but then why did Ginjo turn with that reason when he believed in them ? Its because the SS knew everything and did something despicable and betrayed him while he still belived in SS which caused this Betrayal from the Pass to be a dirty trick and they abused him.

People hate the fullbring arc, but It's my favorite arc. It's his spiderman story, once you feel power and responsibility you can't go back to normal life. But it was also meant to be a reboot of Ichigos character, acting like the first arc of the show, showcasing Ichigo's raw character and how it has changed, as well as changed soul society! Also his fullbring symbolizes the refinement of his hollow powers(putting his mask on his body after learning to manipulate spiritual pressure better from Ginjo)!!!
This is outside of the anime/TYBW. Ginjo has a great reason for being pissed that a power absorber and geotracker was placed on him without his knowledge and as if it was a badge of honor. His anger is justified but misplaced.
The bond progress between ichigo and byakuya is notorious, however, he wouldn't be there if it wasn't because he was ordered to.
Orihime despite having a different reality and "loves" another person feels that something is wrong. That is loyalty and pure love.

If he makes a decision that they do not want him to make then you just die. 7:50 you're missing the importance of what byakuya is saying there. Long explanation if you aren't interested in reading.
It doesn't have anything to do with byakuya seemingly allowing Rukia to die. It's that he owes more to ichigo than he does to tsukushima despite tsukushima's power being so potent.
Byakuya didn't want Rukia to be killed but at the same time he couldn't really save her himself. 1. Because he wasn't powerful enough 2. Because he would be not only destroying his own life (assuming he wasn't killed) but his entire families loves (byakuya is nobility and therefore his entire family would probably be troubled by his actions if not flat out cast out of their positions).
When Byakuya initially fights Ichigo in SS (when they're on that bridge trying to break Rukia out) and yoruichi comes and saves him. Yoruichi and Byakuya play "tag" with flash step and Byakuya is easily keeping up with her. At one point she jumps away and says she wants a "truce" and "I will make this boy stronger in just 3 days" and jumps away with byakuya just standing there despite showing he can keep up with her. Ukitake comes over and says "byakuya!? Aren't you going to go after them?!?" Byakuya responds "you can if you want... I've lost interest". This hints at byakuya WANTING ichigo to get stronger. He sees ichigo as a potential "savior". Someone that could get strong enough and isn't held down by the rules of soul society. He is desperately hoping someone else arrives to save Rukia. And ichigo does.
I think it explains it At some point but Rukia resembles his former wife who died. He/His family took her in even though she was from the slums. He cares for her more than anything else (even if he doesn't say/show it). She is basically his world and because Ichigo saved her when he himself couldn't, he owes Ichigo everything.
THAT is why him saying that to tsukushima at that point is so important. It's one of the few big steps we see byakuya take in his character development throughout the series. He starts with him only seeing Ichigo as trash to seeing him as someone he can put his full trust in. He also says something when Ichigo leaves hueco Mundo to karakura town that also shows his development. And then in the thousand year blood war we see the final stage where he directly says to ichigo how much he trusts him.
Truly one of if not the best character developments in the series.

I personally find it really interesting character wise that Ginjo basically tries to recruit Ichigo still, cuz you'd expect him to just try to kill him, but no.
It makes me think that Ginjo does actually want Ichigo as one of his allies/friends. He's probably the only other person in the world that could truly empathize with Ginjo, but since he hasn't been betrayed by the "Soul Society" like Ginjo was, he ultimately can't.
Ginjo is actually really tragic. The same Noble that killed Tosen's friend used the combat pass as part of a plan to slaughter all of Ginjo's friends and family. Ginjo never found out it was just a Noble though, so he blames all of Soul Society. Which, from a certain perspective, it really kinda is their fault. No one should be allowed to get away with that shit once, and yet that noble was allowed to ruin TWO people's lives, maybe more. It's a real failure on Soul Society's part. Not enough to warrant Ginjo blaming the entire system, but it's understandable he'd do so with such an unacceptable lack of information.
Soul Society may LOOK impressive, but if one thing is for sure, it's that their communication skills are anything but. Left this man to seethe for God knows how long without ever clearing up the misunderstanding.

I like this Fullbring Arc, because this arc is more focused on Ichigo and about his goal in life to protect others especially close people. Usually like other anime’s such as Naruto or My hero academia the main character is already telling from first episode what their dream or goal want to become in the future. But Ichigo never talked about on previous arcs his dream or goal, he didn’t have time to think because of a lot of things happened. Becoming Substitute Soul Reaper, saving Rukia, rescue Orihime, and then saving his city from Aizen. Long story short it’s good Arc.
By the way if you guys going to watch Bleach Thousand Year Blood War, I recommend to not watch opening. Watch it after final episode of the Season 1.

Also something trigger Ginjo to fight soul society, basically make he think SS betray him, then fight SS, and the SS think he betray them
Ginjo has a solid reason to be this way but he's aiming it at the wrong people. It's certain nobles who wrong him in the past but he thinks it was the Soul Society. I won't say much because there's a chance they put into the anime from the light novels. But it isn't in the manga and most likely you'll never see it unless you read DFYOW light novels.
It's the anime fault for trimming important details that lead to this so please don't blame Kubo or the main story. Theirs a list of stuff I could tell you that would help explain certain things. Example. Shu's power also allows him to be granted the strength of some he's pretending to be. He said he trained Byakuya so he's the level now to be his trainer.

I think part of Ginjo's problem with Soul Society is that they were really scummy before Ichigo came, they failed him (i think it's explain in the novel so i don't say more incase they're adapted one day but it's a shame it wasn't explain in the manga/anime) and i don't know if Ginjo is aware of the change in the Soul Society. If not, i see why i tried to gaslight Ichigo

Looks like the power up Ginjo got from stealing part of ichigo's fullbring had diminishing returns, just enough to keep up with him in base form, but fell behind quickly once he went into Bankai.
I don't understand the hate for this arc, it's not the best, but it still has its great moments and it also explains how Ichigo got his powers back.
SS suppressing and monitoring Ichigo's spiritual pressure is honestly not a big deal in my mind, it's normal for SS to do that to any captain class soul reaper in the world of the living, so I don't see why Ichigo would be any different, not to mention that Ichigo is awful at controlling his spiritual pressure and the reason SS puts seals on captain class soul reapers is to prevent them from affecting the world of the living (which I'm sure Ichigo was doing constantly and only adding more work for SS to deal with)
The combat pass is basically the "Gentei Kaijo" which limits captain level individuals from harming the world of the living. It makes perfect sense, although it could have been used better to actually communicate with the SS, like a radio.
The only real L of this arc is NOT explaining Ginjou's backstory.
But think about the implications of what it means that they can shut off your spiritual pressure whenever they want. Think about all the people you love who could be hurt as a result of you not having your powers at a crucial moment because Soul Society decided to turn them off.
Without outside materials, we don't know exactly what Soul Society did to Ginjou, but it was heinous enough for him to turn on them.
Honestly, it's a huge screw up that all of this wasn't included in the manga. To americans who are always being spied on and surveilled, merely being watched doesn't seem like a big deal lol.
You can not like this arc, that's understandable. But to skip it, to say it's not important it's not true. It's canon no matter what you think of it!
remember all those times ichigo got consumed by his hollow? yeah.. keeping tabs on him is definitely reasonable
Unlike other fillers of Bleach, the fullbring ark is part of the Manga so not skipping is a good choice.

Feel like the anime didn’t explain the whole combat pass thing as well as the manga.
The thing is that the soul society aren’t good people lol 😂, like they are better then the bad guys, but that’s cause we have been on their side for now. It may not seem like a problem now, but remember they came and got rukia to kill her, and they genocided the Quincies, and then they lied to Ichigo even though he risked his life for them. What happens if they come after ichigos friends and he try’s to stop them? They just get to kill him? For what reason, what if they do something Ichigo just can’t go along with, now you see why Ginjo was so mad, instead of being trusted he was being watched, and then they betrayed him, and was ready to throw him away. I doubt anyone wouldn’t have a problem with that.
And if the novels someday get anime adaptation people will lose their mind how fuk d up ss is😂

I enjoy this arc but man, I wish they had actually gone fully into the Ginjo’s story here. It practically makes no sense given the little context they give us. Having to hear how juicy the backstory is from other people who read the novels is such a shame.

The things about this arc.
-we ended last season with the win against a multi-arcs mega mastermind vilain aka Aizen.
-its followed by an arc where the mc is back to square one, more mature and serious.
- mc gets destroyed emotionnally
-there is a weird feeling all season long because of the storyline (manipulation, tsukishima,etc). Its not fights on fights.
-And the biggest issue, the anime ENDED on that arc. It makes a weak ending compared to Aizen.
I personnaly like it a lot, Rukia's comeback as everyone is against Ichigo is awesome storytelling. And never forget: Ichigo's power is Resolve.
The only even slightly important part of Ginjo's rant was that the combat pass ALSO controls ichigos spiritual pressure. So hypothetically, they could just nerf him into the dirt and kill him with essentially no trouble.
But again, seems relatively fair to me. I could see how someone essentially having a plan to assassinate you could seem like a betrayal to some though. Especially to people as straight forward and loyal as ichigo.
But yeah, this plot point was always just a teensy bit weak.
If they only animate CFYOW it would definitely give Ginjo more depth and would answer WHY he's doing all of this.

Although it is true that if he had that from the start his ass wouldn't have been able to save Rukia, he would have gotten shot down immediately
Like yeah I would hate to know they can get me if they get tricked into another Aizen like stunt but like if I was in Ichigo's shoes I'd just defeat him and then id go with the old man, "look my guy, I'm not saying exempt me from obeying the rules but if the Aizen shit happens again I'm not gonna be able to help" also I would not necessarily like to be physically beholden to the rules of the guys that keep most of the souls in a constant state of poverty and Don't help them reunite with their families but that also carried horrible violations of human rights on the Quincys, created and executed the mod souls and in general don't care for stopping Mayuri's garbage

I don't understand what you meant by this truth irrelevant. That combat pass was basically a puppet string and a spying software. Besides after the final arc you'll see a pattern with all the bleach villains and Soul Society.

The fact that you guys don't understand why it is such a problem that soul society is basically spying on Ichigo is just sad.
Saying something like "If you don't betray them, you have notion to worry about" is like the cops saying "if you haven't done anything wrong, there is no reason to not let us search your house".
What happens if at some point soul society does something ichigo can't agree with? What if soul society becomes the bad guys? What if soul society decides to kill one of his friends. You know, EXACTLY like they did with Rukia? How would be save them again under those circumstances with that combat pass? He wouldn't be able to.
How is Ichigo a problem? What rules did he break? Who did he kill? What right would soul society have to keep him under 24/7 surveillance like he was a convicted criminal? None.
The fact that you guys are "used to" bring spied on all the time doesn't mean it is a good thing or something that should be tolerated. It is a slippery slope to authoritarian tyranny.
The fact is that Ichigo would have been angry if what Ginjo was saying was true. The ONLY reason Ichigo was not angry was because he realized Ukitake warned him about it.

As a person that read this arc and skipped the anime version, I am glad you did go over it. Watching it with you lot is my first time watching this arc in the anime and your reaction made this barable. That being said I still hate this arc😆
This is the most cannon filler storytelling I have ever witnessed. Even more so, with hindsight into future events. This is an arc that started off interesting but loses itself in the middle stretches. My biggest issue is it repeats a lot of things that has already been done in Bleach, and in my opinion done better.
It’s so crazy how so many ppl try to over exaggerate the ginjo speech, it’s literally his failed attempt at trying to convince the soul society giving him the pass was bad but looks like it worked on some viewers💀💀, the soul reapers literally just came to save ichigo from his dire situation and the combat pass makes sense to give, it would be dumb to not give ichigo one considering how strong he is, and it’s obvious the captains and lieutenants had to actual plans to kill ichigo and just came to help him, it’s literally even stated
