Everyone here is focused on beauty but I'm here thinking just how amazing it is that she has regained her sense of smell and taste because of the function of a nasal passage being brought back with the prosthetic. Simply jaw dropping!
Yes. I don't think she ever lost those senses. I think because of her nose collapsed against her nasal cavity was blocking her from smelling and therefore tasting. With the surgery they were able to clear all that out. Now she can smell. Also if you cover your nose, and you try tasting something it becomes hard to taste. That also came along her recovery.
It isn't the prosthetic that repaired her sense of smell and taste, or the collapse of her nose "blocking" her from smelling. Her disease went into remission, and the receptors responsible for scent and taste somehow repaired themselves. "The condition had attacked the nasal receptors, which determine different scents and flavours.
But when the disease went into remission last year, the receptors repaired themselves, to the amazement of doctors who were convinced they were beyond rescue.
Jayne, who has to take medication including steroids and antibiotics, said: “I cried last week as I hugged the woman who carried out my final operation, surgeon Ms Lisha McClelland, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
"She changed my life. I can taste and smell again. I cried when I could taste tea, toast and jam again."

She was asked how she'd like it, and told the lady who made it she wanted her nose! So the lady made a cast of her own for her.

I’ve met her before and after she got the prosthetic, she works at a pub near me. She is so brave and so inspirational. She’s such a nice person and deserves to be happy

As a person who went through and continues going through crazy surgeries- losing my nose and getting a new one- this was a very good watch! I'm glad they gave you so much time on the show!!! I blinked and mine was over lol! You look great!

Ive been so inspired by you n others that have been through so much n are going on with there lives n have been so strong. I get down alot having aquired a disibility 6 yrs ago n feeling like half the person i used to be so YOU n others stories really help me see how to change my attitude i hope things are continued to go well for you n your family. I have Wegener gpa which is what this amazing lady has,I’m only 13 and it almost killed me in January as it put me in full organ failure,but luckily mine didn’t attack my nose and I can’t believe how brave she has been about it as if that was me I wouldn’t even be brave enough to leave my own home which proves how inspirational she is and I’m so glad she spoke up about gpa as I couldn’t find any ones stories about it till her as it’s so rare,there is less than 20 children in uk with it apparently
This makes me sad for her, to think your nose could fade away. And then become scared to be in public and everything else! Her new nose looks very good! 💜

I wish my grandmother had this for her nose. She had her nose taken off because of cancer in the 1950’s. She had a plastic nose that she had to tape on. She didn’t wear her nose when she was home because it was so uncomfortable.

Gillian Wills Wait, what is the story with Marks & Spencer’s? What do you mean she felt she had to leave it behind? I got the impression that she worked that job for extra family money-her husband is the main breadwinner. The thing is she has a major health issue she is dealing with. She has is on this drug protocol to keep the disease in remission, and I am sure she has to get a lot of rest. She seems like a very social person, and so I think she probably really liked all the interaction with the customers. That is something you miss a lot.

Clare Hannah xo Ah, okay! That must be what it is then. She seems like such a nice lady. I cannot believe what she has had to go through-my God! She said somewhere the Dr. told her that her dog actually saved her life. The disease she has can be fatal, and if her dog had not bumped her nose and triggered the response in that area, the disease probably would have progressed to the point that she would have died. So many of the other symptoms are very general, and the disease is so incredibly rare that it likely would have progressed to the point of no return.
Gillian Wills I totally agree, she should go back to work and M&S should try to encourage her back. In my local M&S food store is a lady working on checkouts with a prosetic hand x

In the end she got a nose that she can take on an off and this is what she said to the person that gave her her new nose and she said this to her “what type of nose do u want” and she replied with “Well I love your nose” and the doc said “ well I could mold u the same one as me” and that’s the end of the story! And she can smell and now taste in so happy for her!

What an insperation and a lovely woman
I love watching this time next year. I watched the new one this week.
I know this is a show and they want viewers but the part where the camera goes to an audience member right at the exact time she's wiping away fake tears in *Low Down* I played it back a few times and she didn't have any tears ! At the same time I feel really bad for the woman and her family for what they went thru and her nose looks very real.

Your dog tells you about your health is in danger ... dog has nothing to do with what happened to you...be thankful that your dog alerts you ahead of time...they can sense it..

What happens if she just puts her finger in that hole? Would it hurt . Does it just connect to the rest of the body? What if she dropped something down there?
It poetically hurt in the beginning because it wss a freshly created hole and they basically pierced magnets into it. After healing I'm sure it was fine. Your nasal passages actually lead down to where the back of your throat is! When you breathe though your nose the air travels down your esophagus like when you do with your mouth. That's why smell and taste are so linked together. So if something did get in there it would end up being a little annoying, but I can't imagine it would be a disaster. She's probably careful anyways
