There are definitely girls who aren't affected by their periods (much). E.g. the women in my family don't have cramps/pain at all, and our mood swings are very slight.
Basically: There are different symptoms, usually relating to the hormone imbalance a girl experiences during her period and/or the pain of the girl's hips widening to push out a "baby." Really there isn't any baby, of course, but rather the uterus disposes of the unused (not fertilised) egg cells/ova.
These symptoms will usually affect the mood, appetite, and reaction to stimulation of the senses, as well as pain in the lower body. In every girl, these symptoms show to different degrees and may appear at different times of their menstrual cycle.
Typical will be less or more appetite than usual, mood swings or strong emotionality, sensitivity to textures, etc. Apart from affecting the mood, the hormonal imbalance can also cause various side effects such as pimples/skin problems, headaches, diarrhea, nausea, and other types of sickness.
The symptoms will usually appear at the time of their period, but also before, after and at the time of the ovulation. The period itself can typically last anywhere from 3-9 days.
I love your detail of information! As a woman who has been on both extremes of the spectrum I do want to add to it a bit.
First of all, hormonal changes do cause some emotional swings (and the severity of it varies from person to person), but a lot of what people say is "moodiness" is just a lowering of inhibitions from pain. For example, on a normal day someone might be annoying me to the extent that I'm sighing and rolling my eyes but am too shy or nice to say anything to them even though I wish they would stop. However, when dealing with period symptoms that same level of annoyance could cause me to snap at the person to stop because I can't handle it all at the same time. It was annoying me to an uncomfortable level in both cases, but my ability to brush it off is reduced because I'm already dealing with/overwhelmed by the period symptoms.
Also, pain level can greatly vary from person to person and even in different stages of life. People can have minor enough symptoms that a single dose of painkillers or a bit of time with a heat pad (or even nothing for a very lucky few) can have them feeling almost completely normal, severe enough that even while taking prescription pain killers they are curled in a ball with their heat pad sobbing and vomiting from the pain, and everywhere in between. There are also conditions that can make them much worse such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts and cervical stenosis as well as blood conditions such as Von Willebrand disease.
Many people use various types of birth control in order to make their periods less heavy or painful, happen on a predictable schedule, or to have them less frequently (some delay your period to 1 every 3 months or even make them stop happening), but there are problems with this. The one shown is that minors can't get it without parents permission and parents often refuse to grant it. Another is that the birth control can cause other symptoms or even make periods worse. I've been on one that had me so emotionally numb that I just sat and stared at a wall for hours every day before a family member intervened. My sister has had one that would cause her to break down crying for over an hour at the exact same time every day and another that made her have a period every 2 weeks instead. Finding one that works can take a LOT of trial and error and for some it may never happen.
As lovnely moon mentioned, periods can last for different lengths of time. This is partially determined by how heavy the period is (the amount of blood and how fast it flows), and also just varies from person to person. That said, the symptoms are not the same for every day. Most people have the worst symptoms (especially the pain) on day 1, though for some it can be day 2 or equally bad on both days. Usually the symptoms gradually get better after that.

You should change your tampon every 2-8 hours (you should *never* leave it in more than 8 hours) so it won't last her very long.
