Regarding the fear of a snake in the toilet, I'm Australian, and I grew up on farms, and finding a giant carpet python wrapped around the toilet is pretty common, so this fear isn't too irrational to me, and I've had similar fears. I've seen rats come out of toilets too 😑

One of the farm houses I lived in had a plastic ceiling on the downstairs room where I slept, and snakes used to get up there and move in basically. I saw at least three disappearing into my ceiling one night during mating season. They had to go through my room to get to the hole they went into, and I still went to bed and slept in there because I figured they were too busy doing other things. I did draw the line at the one coming through the wall right above my head, dad had to come and evict him. They were brown tree snakes, kind of venomous but not generally deadly.
