The AFP should not only modernize its weapons but also its intelligence system. The Department of National Defense should fund the appropriation of at least two military supercomputers in secure Armed Forces bases. These supercomputers could help in massive data analysis, monitor and calculate the movement of all troops and forces, identify the strengths and weaknesses both within the country itself and the enemy, locate positions to attack, calculate the chances and probability of winning and losses of a combat operation, battle, or a whole war, coordinate the launching of weapons, civilian evacuation, determine strategy and tactics, making more accurate military-purpose maps and many more. That way the AFP can maximize each small quanta of forces and weapons it has against the enemy and for its own survival. Ones with the most weapons don't always win the war, but those who hit the weaknesses of their opponents decisively or are so well protected they are not even attacked in the first place. The assessments of supercomputers will greatly help the commander-in-chief, generals, and lieutenants, and the whole army itself in triangulating their decisions.

Having a strong military will lessen the pressure from other countries and will not be bullied easily.

1:31 to add, all the citizens should support defense spending but...based on the recent disappointing devts notably the sole sourcing of all 6 naval OPVs to foreign construction, 2 obese corvettes, among others, including potential disappointments such as more orders of Italian helis, & so on, then better amend the current mil modernization law such as requiring local production of certain assets, among others. If not, then better scrap the entire program & simply focus on coastguard vessels, fisheries bureau vessels, fishing vessels, transport aircraft, armored combat vehicles, drones, & other assets that are still needed EVEN IF a full hot war against a foreign country won't happen

Admin, can you expound more on the Asian Financial Crisis in the Philippine setting? I mean, PH weathered it in 1997, only suffered -0.6% in 1998, & then quickly recovered from 1999 onwards. In short, that crisis is merely a convenient excuse coming from politicians & people who didn't support the 1995 mil modernization law & defense in general

I think the AFP should prioritize acquiring cruise missile submarines and missile defense systems for the third horizon, and any excess funds should go to R&D with the goal of gradually weaning off foreign technology. If the Philippines can achieve some technology parity, I hope they can collaborate with South Korea, Japan, India, Israel and other friendly countries on projects. I favor the KF-21 Boramae Block 2 over the Saab Gripen and F-16 for the MRF after the third horizon.

can someone answer this? If the AFP Modernization Act expires and they having a capability to produce their own arsenals and assets from transfer of technology from Japan and Israel, would the AFP still can make their own arsenals and any types of assets even the AFP Modernization Horizon 3 expired? even still the AFP can buy weapons and assets from a Foreign Country even the Modernization Act expires?

The main goal of the modernization act is to acquire the specific needs for defense purposes, especially the transfer of technology.
If the modernization acts expires, the Philippines can create its own weaponry on its own.

Technology transfer is the initial step, Investment is another. If PH doesn’t have sustainable plan to procure/produced military assets locally from the foreign and local partnership resulted from tech transfer, it will only destined to collapse.
