Absolutely meant no disrespect by describing El Chavo Del Ocho as obscure. Had no idea it was that popular outside North America, I just simply had never heard of the show before, or even seen Don Ramon in my life.
@@rootfelixfake6716 It's not as strong outside of the west coast of the US. Mostly Mexican-influenced areas. Outside of that, most spanish-speaking audiences know of it and have fond memories of it (it's still in syndication today), but don't worship it like some make it out to be.
It's big at any place that speaks Spanish or has a Spanish diaspora, not to mention being a regular feature of Brazilian television since the 80s (one channel bought the rights for it and just kept running re-runs before lunch). You might want to try out Street Chaves at some point, it's where his sprites came from.
It's ok. The show runs on Spanish word-play and relies heavily on hispanic cultural archetypes for it's plot, setting and commentary. It translates abysmally to anglo-saxon language and culture so that only the garish characters, low-budget slapstick and grainy film is left. No wonder why it isn't know at all in the US and Canada. It's only a bit surprising to find out to which extent this effect caused it to miss those cultures entirely.
2:23 When you said that I immediately realized that his legs are Shao Kahn's legs but painted blue. Considering that when I googled Pantherk I learned he's from a MK-like Mugen game it all makes sense, the characters in that game are all probably made from MK sprites modified and stitched together
23:30 Hydro I would assume was a ninja with water powers who was turned into a cyborg, now his water powers are short circuiting his robot parts. I think it's hilarious
Yep, it's in his MKP intro. Also, his specials are glorious. He can zap his opponent into being dizzy, roll his head like Meat, play possum and explode.
EndoKUUUUken is probably my favorite "not-hadouken" to come out of the 90's fighting game boom. Jago is just a really well done character all around. Also, ripped jeans aside, the least cringey, "geocities clip art" looking thing to come out of OG KI.
I love that you guys take the time to put a clip from El Chavo del 8. Don Ramon isn't a oscure character. Maybe not a well know for american/canadian, but he's an absolute legend. Until recently El Chavo del 8 was on air (like for more than 40 years non stop).
Also, Razor doing the “Sack o’ shit” taunt at 31:55 as Sharp Khan falls to his death is pretty lit! Never thought I’d be saying that ever in my life, so thank you, Matt!
It´s understandable that you may not know about el chavo del ocho, is one of (if not ) the most popular sitcom series in latin america but outside of it can be less known. The series is extremely iconic and to this day the show is watched in many countries and his characters are well-known. To give a somewhat simple description, Don Ramón is known for living only with his daugther and hasn´t paid the rent to the owner of the neighborhood for many months, a running gag is that he always get slapped by Doña Florinda(a widow who lives with her spoiled son Kiko) mostly for misunderstandings and tries to avoid Señor Barriga (the owner) to pay the rent. However, he cares for his daughter and sometimes he also cares for Chavo (the main character) despite he often punishes him for sometimes provoking the previously mentioned misunderstanding.
I’d joke “because he didn’t have easily rippable sprites from WrestleMania: The Arcade Game” but Hunter was playable in the game’s terrible sequel WWF: In Your House!
Hydro is a very interesting character because he was a prominent inclusion in the earliest versions of MK Project all the way back in the 2000s (somewhat based on a MK comic character of the same name, who was just a generic Lin Kuei). Originally, he was a generic blue cyborg who mostly played like Sub-Zero, because back then MK9 wasn't a thing yet, meaning he predated the existence of Cyber Sub-Zero. Eventually, when MK Project got updated to use a more modern and stable Mugen engine, the author making the update went ahead and added Cyber Sub-Zero to the base roster, but instead of just throwing Hydro in the trash, he turned Hydro into a joke character to differentiate him from Cyber Sub-Zero. And personally, I think this is the best use you could've given to Hydro.
Drahmin looks good and his moves look fun but the constant fly sounds are really irritating. I'm impressed how the Modder perfectly captured both the good and bad of Drahmin.
El Chavo del 8 is MASSIVE here in Brasil, and actually has a ton of dubbed versions from around the world. I'm not actually surprised it is obscure in North America, though.
El Chavo is well known in the US (not Canada though) but only within Latino communities. I don’t think the show was ever dubbed into English but it did get regularly broadcasted in its original Spanish in Univision at the very least.
El Chavo del 8 is Mexican not Spaniard, and its not obsucre at all, I honestly dont think there are many people in Latin America that have never seen at least one episode (maybe deep in the Amazon forest).
I remember the day of the MKOnline forums, and people (including myself) making fake screenshots of characters from newer or unrelated games performing fatalities - some having some incredible sprite work, too. And now - we have Pantherk. We've come a looooong way. Edit: The man himself noticed me?! Can of Coke to you, Mr McMuscles - keep it up with the incredible content!
Vargskelethor mentioned, swell with fecal funny. Don Ramon and "El Chavo del 8" were mexican, not spanish, but they did become popular all around spanish-speaking countries.
I'm guessing you have figured it out, but if not, press esc will back you up to the character select. Also if this is like MK project there are about 15 hidden characters below the bottom row
OK so hear me out. A little long but I thought hard...I think I figured out the earthworm Jim connections 1st of all Earth Worm Jim's music has been synced with Michael in the past and they work perfect. Cool spot was done by Virgin games and they worked on the snes Earthworm games the same time. I also think that he does the Homer Simpson joke because they were both voice by Dan Castelleneta (spelling) in thier respective cartoons.

Absolutely meant no disrespect by describing El Chavo Del Ocho as obscure. Had no idea it was that popular outside North America, I just simply had never heard of the show before, or even seen Don Ramon in my life.
I'm actually shocked it's even slightly obscure in north america, especially considering their strong relationship with Mexico.
@@rootfelixfake6716 It's not as strong outside of the west coast of the US. Mostly Mexican-influenced areas. Outside of that, most spanish-speaking audiences know of it and have fond memories of it (it's still in syndication today), but don't worship it like some make it out to be.
I am Canadian, to be fair

Homer on Earthworm Jim's face does make sense because they do shared the same voice actor.
The fact that this game has an alice madness returns background is insane. just need the fire ants from path of neo, and it would be perfect
Loved that Alice game
"So Jim, do we have to see your entire intro with Michael Jackson?"
Jim: YES! You know how much money I spent to get him here?! WE'RE DANCING!
Put "Razor Ramon will return for a new Mortal Kombat" on my fucking tombstone. I can't think of anything better.
RIP Razor Ramon, also known as Scott Hall.
I want fat ugli crab on my grave
Don't ask unless you know the reference
Jax Briggs, Gatekeeper of the New Era
Turns out metal arms were his cuffs
I felt physical pain when he called 'El Chavo Del Ocho' an "obscure 70s sitcom" 😂
Yea, right "Obscure". Only one of the better known shows of the Western Hemisphere : P
@@Rodrigo_Vega obscure in english-speaking countries at least
@@liamsemicolon Sort of... Bumblee Man from The Simpsons is a homage from Matt Groening to one of Bolaños characters, Chapulin.
Ouch, El Chavo Del Ocho was my a big part of my childhood.
not only that but also called it a spanish show c'mon mexico is literally right there xd
Raiden fighting Ramon at Wrestlemania for the Emperor Belt.
"WHO ANIMATED THIS KICK? NETHER REALM?!" No but also yes.
So we go from "Doink Brah! Making kids cry, Brah!" to Bad Mang Vs Flame God Mang.
I like how the clock still ticks down while Earthworm Jim and Michael Jackson yucking it up
"Pick Earthworm Jim to take 20 seconds off the clock" is some real advanced tech.
Time for some "Rate the Fatality"
Nice I was hoping for a Vargskelethor Joel reference to make it through with Pantherk
It just wouldn't be right without Uncle Joel

Yes, I'm glad we're getting more of this.
IT'S A PAINFUL UGLY WORLD.
"Matt gets denied his finish by gangsta Jax"
I disappointed you didn't acknowledged Patherk's cake when you were throwing those punches. Glad to see more of this by the way.

Petition to get Destiny into the next Mortal Kombat game
What is she from?
@@brandonschneider3993 I'm gonna assume it is an OC but don't quote me on that.
"Form Shao Khan feet and legs. Form Glacius Chest and Arms. and I will form the Jacksonville Jaguars Head.... GO PANTHERK FORCE!"
Thats not an icicle matt, Razor is just able to harness and throw with force the baby oil in his hair.
Petition to do nothing more than MK New Aera from now on: ☝
20:55 They definitely ripped the voice of Lissandra from LOL for MK Mugen's Destiny xD
I think the fatality with Cool Spot and MJ might be references to Tommy Tallarico, the composer for both Earthworm Jim and Cool Spot.
Razor Ramon had more going for him in his arcade story mode than most of the new MK characters.

To quote Maximilian Dood from his Shadow Jago boss rage.. F*CKING SKYNET!!
It has Ruby from Defenders of the Realm, but doesn't have Siro!? THE GREATEST MORTAL KOMBAT CHARACTER!?
Oh snap! I remember Hydro from the Mortal Kombat Legacy webseries. He was also in the Mortal Kombat comics if I remember correctly.

Never thought I’d be saying that ever in my life, so thank you, Matt!
Jax Briggs is a neural net processor, a learning computer.
This is so fun! I hope you'll make another episode of this
Something I don’t understand is how we can have Earthworm Jim but we can’t get Boogerman?!?
26:53 jim and homer share the same voice actor if you were wondering
