This morning a Southwest flight a Boeing 737 took off from here in Denver, Colorado. And one of the jet engine cowlings peeled off and hit the wing flaps. They turned and landed. No report on where that cowling went to, or what it fell on.
15:30 Like the aircraft carrier telling the lighthouse to get out of the way, the pilot was telling the tower to move. If you don't get the reference, it is an old joke.

That near miss tower incident was her second attempt to land there as well. How any pilot can get that deep into the final without actually being on the glideslope is unfathomable. A drone under the control of a sensible person who follows the rules is not dangerous. I agree with you that a piece of space junk could be more dangerous. The problem is that there are a lot of people who want to fly a drone because it is the thing to do. It is fun, and you can do a lot with them. A lot of those people have no idea what a drone really is or that it can be very dangerous when used inappropriately and in the wrong places. Some examples are: There have been drone flyers that flew their drone in the flight path of a landing aircraft to make the best photo of the year. There was a drone flyer who wanted a picture from a large church tower with the sun coming up on a misty morning. For this, he had to fly his drone over the city centre, where people were commuting to work or school. There was a drone flyer that was flying over a highway to see if he could go as fast as the cars below. Doing that, he sometimes flew so low that he was in front of the cars and not above them. These are only a few examples, and I know they really happened in the country where I live. These drone flyers, who are not pilots, are the main cause of the very strict rules imposed on us. They have ruined the fantastic hobby for many responsible people who have been flying their models for many years already. I have been flying my model aeroplanes since 1977.
