I listened to this song everyday for a year and with this song and the fellowship I have stayed clean last person I used with was my fiance. today I am going to college I have my daughter back and have been clean for over two years this song spoke to me and helped me to gain the courage and strength to push through and better my life.... I thank you and so does my daughter for helping me gain this life beyond my wildest dreams! I am free today from the grasp of active addiction and today I am truly happy!

Macklemore is the type of artist the radio needs. I miss finding shit on the radio and looking up said artist's music, to find real music. More or this needs to happen.

I first found this in 2012, freshman in high school, no friends, bullied, abusive alcoholic step dad, ect ect. Let's just say those times were tough and I remember playing fallout NV with this song blaring in my ears to drown out the fights and the abuse from the day. I'm not in that situation now, things do get better. Hold your head up people for there is a lot more to life.

I was able to see the beauty in many passions ... so far music,aquariums, cars and art are forms of expressions that allowed me to hold on when I was gonna let go ... I thought about it ... and someone like Macklemore or Mac miller that made a lot of music to help people ... and it became their passion to create music ... people I’ve never met before like Macklemore or Mac miller played a big part in me still being here ... when you have no one left you can always just turn on some tunes and chill out a little bit ... even if it’s a small piece of happiness ... take it ... take the happiness when you can and where you can ... I started fixing cars and listening to a lot of music and watching movies and anime’s ... while starting my aquarium ... now I’m a dad and life is getting good ... I don’t take drugs no more and don’t sell drugs no more I got my license back after revocation for street racing. I moved far away from all that mess with my wife and baby boy ... it’s gonna get better guys ... don’t give up and what helped me is seeing that forms of expressions can save lives. Something small today may lead to something big tomorrow ...

When Macklemore raps I actually believe what he says. He actually thinks, knows, and experiences what he raps about. That's truth. Alot of mainstream rappers do the opposite. They're too afraid to rap about their lives. The truth. They rap themselves up full of false words and anything to sell an album. For them, the studio is prison but to Macklemore the studio is a lighthouse for him to draw America back to reality.
SOCIETY needs someone like macklemore to go huge like thrift shop did, even thrift shop sends a good message, its a must for society to change, so all these high schoolers and etc etc parents all ages bumping thrift shop and acknowledging hip hop w/ a message is good who cares if he went mainstream. secondly, i hope he stays truly indi but its hard to do that, and if he signs, we just have to hope he stays true. but he's human. love his music.
