That opening jam had a bit of Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein" in it.

I like them from listening to your video as well as a couple others, where I just purchased a set from Amazon. I got the reversed Zebra for my Les Paul Classic to replace the BB 61's. I want something lighter and more well balanced as well as looking forward to the Out of Phase Quack in the middle position.

That tone is so damn good in all three humbucker positions 😅 I love the neck humbucker and outa phase sound! 😊

I have a video demo of these in a Esp Ltd Eclipse and mine sound a but different from yours but maybe it's just because we have different styles of playing. Great review!!

These sound amazing, and your playing just expresses them so well. Do you have any experience with the Antiquities? Are these similar to the Antiquities but with the reversed out of phase tone? I’m looking to upgrade a “Greeny“ model Vintage V100 that I own but I’m worried that these may be darker where the Antiquities are brighter. The problem is at the Antiquities would need to be four conductor (to work out of phase in this guitar), and that’s just about as expensive as these. Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks!

would you say you get the tone effect with these in the middle position like - John Mayer Slow Dancing in the Burning Rain - or Stevie Ray Vaughn's Lenny? It's close when I listen real close but the feeling is unmistakably the way to know.... ? Great Video and I appreciate your input and thoroughness - wonder in the PRS how a 25 3/4 scale length sounds

Can the neck pickup be paired with a different bridge pickup and still get the out of phase tone?

Could of adjusted the volume controls?, to fully appreciate the middle out of phase effect more...

please tell us what you use for a amp.....is your tone from a computer generated sound like Amplitude 5 software . ?

Great video. In the name of clarification and correction, the pickups are not *wired* out of phase, they are 1 cloth cover conductor with a braid jacket, so without major surgery on the pickup and coils, it can't be wired that way. The pickup is flipped so the screw poles are on the bridge side of the pickup, instead of the neck side. This actually puts them "in phase" with the bridge pickup (back then, there was no difference between the neck and bridge as there is today). I believe the biggest difference with the Greeneie is the magnet was also flipped causing the magnetic poles to be reversed or "out of phase", if you will, this makes it similar to the neck-middle or bridge-middle position on a strat (sounding different because they are humbuckers set further apart). Look at a current Gibson Les Paul with the pickups out, you will see that the cable comes out of the pickup from the same corner of the pickup on both, but the neck is flipped so the screw poles are towards the neck. I hope this helps to clarify the pickup configuration on this most famous and hallowed guitar.

You missed out the best part of Greeny. When it was in Gary Moore's hands it was his iconic sound. Parisienne Walkways is probably the epitome of Gary's tone with Greeny - ua-cam.com/video/vkUpfw4Hf3w/v-deo.html

Pete's guitar was never a single tone thing. Pete.

What is weird is that neither Peter Green nor Gary Moore was all that impressed with the tone of that guitar. Peter Green traded it away for a Gibson SG and Gary Moore sold it. Same thing with the Les Paul Jimmy Page had; it was given to him by Joe Walsh. It is never the instrument that makes someone great.

    • @mercse
      @mercse Рік тому +8

I think you have things a little skewed. Peter Green sold the Les Paul to Gary Moore as Moore was in love with the sound of the guitar. Moore only sold it as he was in bad financial straights otherwise it would have been with him until he died.

    • @auntjenifer7774

😂 Yeah and Joe Walsh didn't give away the les paul to Jimmy. Page, he sold it to him for cash.

What the hell is so special about Green's tone? It really wasn't that great nor was he.
All overrated and that is under stated.

Nothing is "overrated"....If something is popular, that means that a lot of people think highly of it.
It doesn't make it necessarily great anymore than it is necessarily not great.
But a subjective thing like tone or music is never "overrated" because the ratings are the ratings...Your opinion on the matter doesn't lower whatever the rating is.
I encourage you to read about the definition of the two words "subjective" and "objective. After this, you should understand that subjective things literally cannot be over-rated.
Conversely,..Something like a weight plate that is sold and advertised as being 25.0 pounds and you receive the weight plate and reliable scales reveal that the plate is 20 lbs., this is an example of something being over-rated. Why because the weight rating is objectively false and therefore over-rated.

@@antilaw9911 It's called "marketing" but at the same time the pickups sound very good and they do have the out of phase sound in the middle position.
They aren't a "play off" if you like the way the pickups sound...
The "Seth Lover" pickups and the "59s" are marketing names also but the pickups also sound fantastic and they are voiced from their namesake..
"To make money",..How is that not the goal of any and every business ??
