Watching the big lad in the black shirt move slowly through disbelief, horror, nascent hostility and finally comedic acceptance was the emotional core of this performance, which of course was why it was edited in - because Lee has so little faith in us that we need visual cues to understand the bit's success on a minute-by-minute basis. Great man.

I saw Stewart Lee in the background of 'Lord of The Rings - the Return of The King' where he played the role of an Orc who, at a crucial moment on the ramparts of Minis Tirith, instead of driving his crude spear through the prone and helpless body of Legolas, inexplicably turned away and strode back into the fray, never to appear again. And I thought to myself "Stewart Lee has let his elf go".

You must have had this mixed up with the story of Robert the Bruce fighting the English under the walls of Minas Tirit. As we well remember, Robert the Bruce wasn't doing too well against the English under the walls of Minas Tirit, so he fled the battlefield and carme into a cave where he saw a spider trying to leap from one piece of rock to another. The spider tried it once and failed, tried a second time and failed. Then the spider tried a third time and succeeded. So instead of going back to the battlefield, Robert the Bruce turned himself into a giant spider and tried to kill Frodo by wrapping him up in his giant gooey web. But Sam intervened with the glowing elf cristal to free Frodo, and when the fight was done, Robert the Bruce had let him and Sam go.

Since the mid-19th century, the OED says, there has been “a growing tendency” in Scotland to abandon the adjective “Scotch” in favor of “Scottish” or “Scots.” In the interest of civility, forms involving Scotch are best avoided in reference to people; designations formed with Scots are most common (Scot, Scotsman, or Scotswoman), but those involving the full form Scottish are sometimes found in more formal contexts.

As a comedy promoter i thought Stewart Lee was epic in this, he trolled them hard. Some of them didn't know what to think, and that's Stuarts Style. You'll never have it easy with him and if he thinks you are having it easy, he'll tear everything up and ruin everything...lol.....The Audience were outstanding for allowing Stewart to play his character. What a great crowd....A comics dream in fact. In some places pulling that joke off is like doing the aristocrats joke at snowflake pride convention. Well done everyone.
