  • One of my favorite monologues in cinema. See the whole movie if you can. Yes, Alec Baldwin was once this young, also see him in Glengarry Glen Ross where he delivers another epic monologue.

    • @SubwayProphet
      @SubwayProphet 2 місяці тому

      Wonder how it would feel to go to your job as an actor on a make believe movie set and to be given a gun with a live round in it when live ammo isn't even allowed on movie sets and then when you rehearse the scene in which your character fires a weapon the gun that was handed to you and declared empty by two people whose job it was to supervise and maintain the weapons on set wasn't not only not empty or loaded with blanks but with an actual bullet that strikes and killed someone and this is then blamed on you. Even had he checked the gun himself after two others were supposed to have done so and the director yelled cold set meaning empty gun even had he done so why would he have imagined that the gun was holding an actual live round? You do understand that at some point he would be firing the gun with blanks in it while others were firing guns back at him or in his general direction because they were making a Western and it's hard to simulate gun fights without actually simulating a gun fight simply going bang bang with ones finger doesn't get movie goers fired up. All the non sense about never pointing a gun at anyone is true except when you're on a movie set where live ammo isn't allowed because someone would be killed whereas you're simply playing make believe so there would never be any reason to actually have real bullets anywhere on set. He had to point the gun at someone at some point and fire the blanks or you can't make a movie with gun fights. If they want to ban all movies with gun violence then have it but until they do don't scapegoat the actor who never in a million years would imagine that not only was he given a loaded gun but one capable of killing whoever happened to be in the way it could have been him killed if another actor had been given the gun. Five hundred rounds were purchased and eight were actually live ammo there was no way of knowing this until state police took and examined each one individually the manufacturer should be bankrupted and reputation destroyed because there is no more egregious negligent incompetence than to provide real deadly ammo to a movie production who believes they are receiving blank rounds for there western film. It's nearly unbelievable such a mistake could be made eight times as one would think that live and blank rounds would be produced in completely separate facilities and be made in such a way as noone could mistake one for the other but you would be wrong or what I suspect is someone intentionally did so and expected to not be found out or to feign ignorance if and when it was ever traced back to them and declared there responsibility. As far as I know no one has been named as the guilty party so it's possible they were not able to do so but regardless the entire blame has to fall on the manufacturer and then on those who were paid to oversee the stunts and weapons on set who clearly did not do they're job and put Baldwin in that position. Imagine if he had been supposed to detonate a bomb for his role and when he simply pushed a button a massive explosion killed a dozen people would we then prosecute Alec Baldwin because he pushed a button? Or the person who actually made the bomb many times more powerful than it was supposed to be or the manufacturer who included the much stronger explosives when they were paid for something else entirely? A entire chain of incompetence and negligence leads to the guy at the end of the chain being blamed for what everyone before him did or didn't do all because he pulled a trigger for his role in a movie or you know he actually did his job he was hired to do and almost no one else did and he gets blamed for the result.

    I'm a doctor and the premise of this movie never made sense to me. Basically what's happening is that Alec Baldwin's character is faking the "god complex" so that he and his secret girlfriend (nicole kidman) can get a massive insurance settlement. But in order to do this, Baldwin's doctor character will have a difficult time maintaing hospital privileges and is certainly at risk of a medical board action. So we have to assume that Baldwin is just completely fed up with medicine and never wants to work as a doctor again after this con game is played. Like I said, I don't get it. It's not worth it to throw away your career like that.
