    The mail truck is a work of art. I see how spotless it is then I go out to the shop and realize how hopeless my model A is...LOL I think that it was very fitting to release this on Memorial Day weekend. Thanks Paul and Bob!!

    Yup, you want to drive them, but the fear factor is pretty high. It's just So Rare! Crash a Prius? No issue, get another. But a Model A Mail Truck? We would All be crying! Good stuff, Paul. Thanks for the ride.

    What a great looking vehicle; I like how the widened the cab and have those extra windows sort of at an intersecting angle to the main body - would be easier to see mail boxes and numbers that way.

    Gotta bring this baby over to Railtown for a photo shoot with the Steam locomotive sometime! Back in the early days, the Butterfields would bring the mail and parcels up to the Sierra Railway's Jamestown Depot from Main Street in an old horse drawn Railway Express wagon. The horse's name was "Dan", and driver Charles Butterfield said that ".....when Old Dan gives out, I'm retiring." The Butterfields stopped delivering the mail to the depot in the early 30's, when trucks came on the scene, I imagine something like this truck would have taken over. Really cool to see this piece of history fully restored and operating. Well Done, gentlemen!

    If that is the same Model A Mail Truck that once was part of the Towe collection, I remember it well and it was one of my favorite vehicles in the museum. Over the 17 years that I was there, I don't recall it ever been taken out of the building or even started. It sure looks a lot better now than what I remember. A very nice video of an authentic Model A Mail Truck that once played small but important part in FOMOCO's history.

    Great adventure for the mail truck and the reception at the P.O.. I took my 28 toudor to the local Ford dealership to have the frame checked for straightness. The staff loved it! The service manager took photos for the dealership newsletter and the technician didn't even charge me because he so enjoyed working on it. The funny part was inputting the car into the computerized sign in process. The pull down menus did not have Model A or 1928 or the ability to input a 6 digit serial number. They finally figured out a way to lie to the software so the vehicle could be put into the system. I never had so much fun at a dealership

    • @ModelA
      @ModelA  2 роки тому

      Ha haa! Well done Todd! I drove my 31 Turdor into a Ford dealership for warranty service once (did a short video on it). The reception I got was hilarious also. But, I didn't keep recording because the language (theirs, not mine) wasn't fit for all audiences. Unfortunate.

    A pristine vehicle is a mixed blessing. People’s comments are great but I’m completely paranoid while driving it, so it sits way too much. Sometimes I almost wish I had one that ran reliably, but wasn’t quite as nice cosmetically so that I could enjoy driving it more. I guess Paul and Bob have it all figured out - just have multiple vehicles of all persuasions so that you can drive the one best suited to your activity that day!

    I would think a Mail Truck would have lower gear Diff to allow it to carry hundreds of pounds of Mail. Methinks someone swapped it out along the way. Either way, it's a beaut. Stay safe, stay cool.

    You are a natural in front of the camera, Paul. This is an unusual attribute, even in this modern era, everyone having a camera and all.
    What´s with the blurred-out rectangle? What are you trying to hide, _including nothing at all?_

    My father drove a Model A snowmobile conversion car on his 44 mile rural mail route during the winter. I have a picture of him driving it, and another of me driving it as a 13 yr old learning to drive - after he cut the roof off.
