I've used about 4 of these kits now for small projects and the odour is so low as to be unnoticeable and each kit comes with gloves, mixing cups and stirrer. I get reliable results each time (don't rush the unmolding!) and am pretty happy with this product. I make them in my kitchen and honestly I'd get more complaints from the smell of nail polish.
Just because you can’t smell the resin doesn’t mean it’s not releasing harmful chemicals. Always err on the side of caution and use respirator/ventilated space until resin is fully cured. Happy crafting ☺️
Thanks so much for your advice about the type of gloves, respirator and how to clean up if you get any on your skin. A bit of a worry that these hazards and warnings aren't on the packaging
Hey thank you so much, this was a great video! Also love the channel name haha. NZ? I used some of this yesterday to fill some gaps in some wood. It definitely bothered my throat too, and took forever to start setting. The mixing spoon was horrid too; just made it splash everywhere. Have an awesome week!
Thankyou. I used to resin moulds n so a few 50cm rounds. Haven't done it for 6 years and my expensive unused bottles have gone yellow but too reluctant to throw so I grabbed a kmart kit to do with a client as I'm a disability support worker. Thought I best watch a quick bid to see the time test before it starts to become too thick to use. Yea it's not a great product for safety details at all. They really could be in strife for that if reported. Any too.. It does look very clear but I wonder if it eventually yellows a tad over time? Let me know. I'm gonna give it a go with client today. I must say I'm a tad nervous as iv not done resin with anyone with no experience at all before n wish me luck. Iv all the safety gear n it'll be set up outside ( hoping not too windy). Il do the main pouring I think but might get client to pour the opposite end of tray mould and put her decorative touch in. Good video. Cheers from Lisa in Perth West Aust
Thank you for the nitrile tip. I have been using whatever I found for over 2 years. Just forwarded that little slice of knowledge to my daughter who makes dice too. ❤️❤️❤️. Sincerely much thanks. ❤️
🥰 I read somewhere that latex will only be good enough for around 30 minutes but will start letting it through after that. So unless you're planning on changing out gloves every half hour, it's much easier to get nitrile. In my line of work (scientist), the only gloves we get are nitrile. I figure the more careful I am, the longer I'll get to use resin 😁 I'm glad I could help ❤❤❤
I had already purchased this to use with my daughter before seeing your video, so I'm now getting concerned about using it! What type of respirators should we wear when using this (complete newbie here)? I will be buying some nitrile gloves as well - thanks for all of your tips! 😷🧤
You both need a respirator with an organic vapour filter. Otherwise you could do it outside and leave it outside while it cures? I'm glad you found the video!
Our KMart in Miranda didn’t have any of these resin products when we checked last week. So by your demo I will give the resin a miss and maybe buy the molds. Thank you.
Thanks for this Liz. Im 2 hrs away from Kmart (have KHub close by but they dont stock the craft stuff) so I wont be rushing there anytime soon haha. Liz Im FINALLY getting waves so thanks again for your kindness and help with that X
Yeah save your $10 for some art resin 😉 YAY don't you just feel like you cracked some secret code? Congratulations 🥰💙 I'm glad you found your Goldielocks conditions 😁 well done!
@@Procrastipainter LOL yes the Goldilocks conditions took a bit but I got there...well most of the time!. I tried the new Ocean Cote by JR. It smells and I dont get the longer working time it says here but lacing is gorgeous
@@Procrastipainter me too....very glad...I grew up near the ocean and I make scenes from my ocean memories so didnt want to give up trying to get my Liz waves!! Get some Liz and see what you think. It went hard on me within about 30 mins so maybe the heat or something up here though I used it in the air con. I could also smell it even thru my respirator. I didnt like it first try but then tried again with not leavong the white as long as usual and loved it
Lol Liz waves 😆 That's weird cos their website says it should be 80 mins - maybe your air con wasn't working as well as you think? Might be time for new filters if you smell it. Yeah I def will give it a go and of course make a video 😁
Sorry do you mean can you put it on a rock? I think if you tried most of it would run off - it's way too thin to stay on the rock. You'd be better off using acrylic paint or pens for that
If you're sure you're measurements were actuate, it might just need more time. Smaller things take longer to cure properly. I'd say if you get to 7 days and it's still mushy then it didn't work
Well, that's kinda the point. $10 for 150ml ends up being $67/L for casting resin. So you're much better off buying directly from an actual resin company for sure!
I used this myself, and didn't think the odors were anywhere near bad at all - I'm assuming the odor was caused by the mixins you used - THAT is where I HAVE noticed smell - the dyes, the inks etc. So I think this is a pretty unfair review. Obviously I agree the safety instructions should be far better, and its definitely not a craft for kids in any way - but overall I think you're bias is showing.
I think it’s a perfectly fair review because low odor has nothing to do with how dangerous it is or isn’t, and inadequate safety instructions are going to lead to risk of harm or injury. The moment I saw that Kmart had introduced resin into its craft supplies line I knew it was begging for trouble, resin is an incredibly dangerous hobby and anko as a brand should have known better than to release a product like this with no proper safety instructions.

Great review. I wont be getting any of that any time soon! Have you tried the Boyle's Crafty resin from Bunnings?
Kmart does also sell the kit that sells gloves, cups and extra spoons etc and the resin colours also.
Are the gloves still in a separate box??

Will this work for rock painting?

48hrs later and the Runes I cast feel more like rubber. I used a syringe to measure so 99.9%accurate. So disappointing 😞
If you're sure you're measurements were actuate, it might just need more time. Smaller things take longer to cure properly. I'd say if you get to 7 days and it's still mushy then it didn't work
I will stick to the better known dearer resins. Thank you.

Luv ur accent btw
I have an accent? 😆
@@Procrastipainter yass aussie i luv it
🤣💙
Love how you flicked the instructions away (in disgust heehee). Nasty stuff!
Hahaha ahhh that's pretty true actually, I hasn't even realised 🤪 man, if only you'd seen the Tiktok post I did on Sunday 🤦♀️ it went mental
@@Procrastipainter I'll go check it out
😆 nooooo
I can only imagine the lawsuits they will come up against without proper safety instructions.
I've heard (but not seen for myself) that they adjusted their packaging
@@Procrastipainter yes Im sure they have they now have listed the nitrile gloves in the box and the warnings etc inside alot different to this video
😱 that's awesome!
