I love this video and the scenery is beautiful. Yes we need more Gen x on UA-cam, we have experiences and wisdom to share... ❤❤❤
So true! This is a park that’s about a 5 minute walk from my house. I live up against a canyon that is about 10 miles from the coast…so on a clear day, the colors seem to be magnified and magnificent!
Thanks, I started mine at 66 years old and am surprised that I am enjoying it.
Great to hear! Thanks for popping in to comments to share! 💕✨. Age should be the fuel that drives us..not slow us down. ✨✨
UA-cam is a lot of work but it's so much fun! It's an endless learning curve of creativity.
You said it ! 💕✨
@@beautifullifesageg.3951 I quit twice! But I can't stay away 🤣
💞 Here you go!
I'll be 50 in October, I have started a youtube channel in Portuguese using another account. I talk about different things from the 80's, mainly toys and fads, I love doing it! I have 6 videos, I was editing the 7th but stopped to watch your video...The maximum views I got so far on a video was 52....😂 I'm having fun,THAT'S the most important thing!
Oh I’d love to see that channel! Are you willing to share it?
Great job, Jen! I've loved watching you and your channel evolve. You are an inspiration. And I owe my willingness to pivot to your inspiration and encouragement. ❤
Wow! That’s wonderful to hear. Thank you for that kindness. I look forward to witnessing the pivot! ✨🙏
SO true!!! At 54 I started my UA-cam channel 2 days ago (34 subscribers so far!!!)🎉🎉🎉 Your journey has been inspiring and encouraging for me to FINALLY start. Love your voice and your content Jen, keep doing what you’re doing, I love seeing your channel grow❤❤
You have one more subscriber!
@@AgingOnYourTerms THANK YOU🎉
Grateful to have you for the journey❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Shauna. Your kind words are well-received!💕✨. It means a lot to me that I can be an inspiration to you and in support, I’ve subscribed! 💕✨😃. I eat a TOTALLY different diet…so I hope you don’t mind! But I’ll be there watching and commenting to support your growth. Welcome to the community and please keep popping in to the comments because it’s here where you’ll find so much kindness, friendship, and support from others in our age range who are stepping out of the comfort zone and taking up space (in the best way) here on UA-cam! 💕✨
This makes me HAPPY! 😊 💕✨
And I’m thrilled connected in this space! We seem to be weaving together a lovely support network. 💕✨
Thank you for the advice and encouragement. Just posted video #15. Hoping to build a strong community for the disabled 💕
You are doing very important work! Please pop into comments often bc there’s so much support here waiting to be given!
I'm 56. I started my channel in May. I love it so much. I don't have many subscribers but I've met amazing women. I've learned so much. I've started editing!!🎉
That is awesome! 👏 Yay for editing! It can be lots of fun and sparks another type of creativity. You can be pretty expressive with editing. I’ve subscribed in support of your growth! Happy to have you here! Please feel free to pop into comments often bc there are so many amazing women and men who will support you and encourage you! ✨🙏
@beautifullifesageg.3951 thank you so much!!
In the three years I have had my UA-cam channel, even with very little growth, it has been very fulfilling. If you are just starting my biggest advice is to be yourself, don’t get hung up on the subscriber count, the views etc. Focus on whether you are enjoying it and if you are in it for the long run. Be you and have fun! Thank you Jen for sharing your perspective. Hearing from new UA-cam creators and especially over 50, have been inspiring for me to keep going. My favorite emoji ❤
Hearts are easy to love! Your advice is spot on, Joann. Part of the fulfillment I believe, comes from the creative expression. And that holds value far beyond the numbers. (Even though I need to remind myself of that from time to time….)
Thank you ! You are doing a great job and so inspiring❤
I appreciate you! This was really hard for me to do. I had so many false starts. Getting the thoughts out of my head from picture form into words was so hard. But I powered through…after sending tons of takes to the 🗑️ trash…and then found an awkward groove. But I liked being more truly ME. I’ll probably use this style a bit more going forward. 💕✨
What a great message. I love doing UA-cam. However, since we’re all different I don’t think it’s for everyone. If UA-cam isn’t for you, find another hobby that makes you happy. Those of us who are UA-camrs need some who just watch our channel 😉
Yes. Agreed! Thanks for sharing your perspective. 🙏
Thank you for this inspirational video 😊
Most welcome 😊
Got to the end 🔥🔥🔥 Punch fear in the face and just press record!
That’s the truth, Carmen!
Thanks for sharing how it is off-the-cuff for real. My ADHD brain is jealous 😊 Plus with a creeper in the background 👀 You made a great case for us 50+ to take up more space on this platform 🎉
Thank you! Are you a viewer or a creator? What are your plans for yourself here?💕✨
@@beautifullifesageg.3951 Both 😁 My baby channel The Low-Vision Coach is tons of fun but I'm struggling to get one video per week out because it's an education style with lots of research, etc. I know it will go faster and easier with practice. Plus I'm experimenting with different ways of presenting the information. My plan is to stick with it!
I’m not on UA-cam for monetization on it more to help me with speaking and expressing myself. My ADHD needs this environment. 😊
My ADHD does too! That’s why I’m doing this! If I allow my brain to be idle for too long…I get anxious. The constant learning curve seems to be really good for me right now!
Loved your video, keep encouraging the 50 and up👍🏾❤️
Thank you, Phil! I will certainly try. 🙏✨

Yay! Thank you Candace! 🙏✨🙏
As a fellow GenX ADHDer, I agree wholeheartedly with you! I also struggle with losing my train of thought. I just say “squirrel” and move on. 😂 You’re doing a great job and I look forward to growing our community together! ❤

Hi there, I’m an over 60s, well just turned 65 a few days ago and retired teacher so I resonate a lot with your journey. Like yourself I’m starting out on UA-cam and finding my goal for it between growing and just doing this for fun for myself and maybe a few others. I think I’m somewhere in between.

Thanks for this. I’m in my early 40’s and have made so many videos. But I’m scared of the editing enough that I haven’t even tried it out yet. lol and definitely nerves about posting.
Hi Jaime! Thanks for popping in to the comments to share your perspective. I have a playlist you may want to watch if you haven’t already that is documenting my channel growth. It may be helpful for you to watch it so you can see the difference between when I had little skills til now. It’s called “birthday monetization playlist.” Anyway, you can post videos that aren’t even edited. You can post whatever you want just to get over the fear. Once you do one and begin to understand the process, as with anything, the fear starts to subside. For me, editing is a creative process so that is less fearful for me. I still get really nervous when I am posting a video more because I am worried I am going to forget to do something important. so what I will do is after I have edited, I will take a break of a few hours or maybe a day, before I go back to upload it. That way I am rested and clear headed. I hope some of that is helpful! Let me know when you’ve taken the plunge!
Yess it’s a time capsule. And we never know who will benefit from it.❤
Exactly! Which is why even though the numbers are a tangible indicator of growth, the connections made and people served are as valuable.
You have a very soothing voice and inspirational words. 😊
I watched all the way to the end then started over because I couldn’t comment yet when it was finished. Lol.
Here’s my favorite emoji. 🙌🏼
These are my “great-job-let’s-celebrate” hands.
There’s so much to celebrate with people. This is my way of cheering you on!

Hi Gwen! I love the sentiment around your favorite emoji! Thank you for the compliment. I spent many years not using my voice as I should have for fear of criticism (childhood trauma) but being here is helping me to heal that. Your presence as I heal is very nurturing. Thank you. 💕
@@beautifullifesageg.3951 I have a friend who has a big laugh (it’s infectious!) but she suppressed it for many years because of childhood trauma.
When she embraced her big laugh, she found amazing freedom in being herself.
I’m thankful for your healing because the world needs your voice. 😊🙌🏼
I’m glad to be here. 💗
As a Gen X myself, I understand the frustration with the gimbal. I tried mine out and struggled. But then I got my husband to help me out. He just turned 40. He was able to teach me how to use it. Thankfully, I am married to someone that is closer to or is a millennial. They seem to be more tech savvy.
Plus, I think we are on some kind of movement with people who are 40 and older and starting UA-cam! Love this!❤
We definitely are! I'm researching gimbals for Androids. I'll likely buy one next payday.
I’m going with my friend tomorrow to the park to learn how to use our gimbals! It’s been fun to learn new things. But I agree… it’s not hard to start. I absolutely encourage, especially women, 50+ to start a channel! 😊
🦦🍄🥰
@@JackieWolven I’ve just got a gimbal too - mine seems to have a mind of its own, but I’m determined to conquer it!
@@jowildsmith We can do it! And I agree. Mine wants to point at the ground or the sky, which is fine, but it makes it all a little dizzying to watch! 😂
@@JackieWolven mine makes me feel seasick!
I had to return mine because the app to use it was no longer available for Android! Such a bummer. I haven’t researched another one yet. If you have any recommendations Jo, please share!
I appreciate your videos so much. You share authentically from your good heart. I want to try a video with little to no editing. My first videos were a lot more like that when I started just over a year ago. I feel like I have to edit the heck out of them to capture the audiences attention. That’s super tiring to over edit and I myself can appreciate raw authentic video where I stay captivated because the person themselves keeps me there, much like this video.
I always watch your videos to the end and lately strawberries have been my summer thing🍓🍓
I relate so much to you and appreciate your comment so much. Editing is fun and creative, but it does do a number on my ADHD brain and I’m usually wired and exhausted by the time I’m done. Yet I enjoy it! I want to have a combination of both types of videos because I don’t want to always feel like I’m performing. So today, although it was hard to get my groove (many false starts in the DELETE bin) once I did, I enjoyed speaking off the cuff. Plus…it was SO MUCH EASIER to upload one video rather than 15-20 into my editing app! Thanks so much for always supporting me 100%. 💯 Please reach out when you can to my email.✨💕
@@beautifullifesageg.3951 how do I find your email? Ever since your live I’ve wanted to reach out.
Current favorite emoji ⚡️. Yay for us Gen X rock stars representing on the Tube!!! And yay you for inspiring so many people!
Lightning bolt! Oohhh! I like it.✨
It’s very comforting to hear you speak about the challenges of your unscripted videos. It’s challenging for me also to do unscripted in my food + health YT channel. It’s a cinch in my music channel but for some reason, despite my passion for food as medicine, I’m better off with a script. Otherwise I have to do TONS of editing! Thx for your honesty!
I’m glad that it reached you in that way. I’m likely going to allow for some more unscripted videos. I am having a lot of epiphanies about myself and the way I communicate/show up in the world through doing them this way.
❤ Thanks for the encouragement and for bravely making your dream come true, Jen! ❤❤❤❤❤

Just came across your channel which I find very refreshing. I’m also gen x, almost 54 (in December) and just took a plunged and started my UA-cam journey 3 weeks ago. Thank you! Cheers! 🥂
Awesome work, Jen!
This is the best video I’ve seen from you so far! In some of your past videos, it felt less like “conversation mode”, and more like you were giving a speech and like things were a bit over-rehearsed. It can definitely be nerve-wracking to talk off the cuff in front of the camera, and you did an excellent job! It’ll definitely get easier the more practice you have at it, so keep up the good work! 👍🏻🙂
Hi Randy! Good to see you in the comments! I shift back and forth between the two styles. They each have their merits and their challenges. I’ll likely keep experimenting depending on the topic and the vibe I’m going for. I appreciate your kind feedback! 💕
Oh I am loving your videos Girl let me just say you got a lot of cojones 😂 Your courage is contagious. I just got back on with creating videos ( they are on my phone haha) but I will upload them I promise 🙌🏻

@@doodleacademy I was that way too! I actually quit grad school because I couldn’t stand in front of people and speak. I was so awkward a couple months ago but it gets easier with each video you make.
What is your idea for your channel?
@@Simply_Lane thank you for sharing your experience 💛 I think I'm overthinking things and I just need to hop in front of the camera and start recording!
@@doodleacademy overthinking things could be my middle name. 😝 I was terrified! If you watch my first several videos, I ramble and stumbled so many times. I was so embarrassed and then I watched a video where the presenter basically said not to be embarrassed because nobody really cares. I loved your distraction moments and how authentic you are! It’s interesting how you are not in your comfort zone for this video and you are in your others. For me, it’s the opposite. I feel like I can freely talk in nature but I struggle indoors…lol!
Hey! The captions are part of InShot video editor. If I release the expectation that something must come from the video, I can just talk. It's when I hold too tightly to reality and meeting standards that I struggle. Does that make sense?🌷🤔
