- I gotta say Offworld absolutely nailed this one. This is the sort of game I hope to see in Early Access - it's a fully playable and actually fun game with a great gameplay loop from day one. The game isn't just a promise of something good in the future - it's already great. Yes, there are bugs and issues, I experienced a crashing issue in the second recording that was frustrating until fixed, and sometimes you'll end up with buildings double-placed or you'll bug when you die, but the bugs are under a reasonable level, and unlike the Early Access games that I heavily criticise, the game's design is exceptional. I don't think they need to rework the shooting or the building for example - there's just polish left to do and more content to be added. My biggest complaint with the game is that Gunner Bugs are unfun to fight and would benefit from a rebalance or perhaps a weakness to melee.

On the discord they have a section for bug reporting/recommendations. The best one so far was someone asking for there to be a camera crew running around filming everything. 10/10 immersion

@@Argellius And serve nothing besides from making replay footages. Or they can provide a small bonus after every checkpoint reached because improved morale and war support. Of course there should be only one camera crew every game to prevent too many people picking them.
The Starship Troopers franchise is really popping off when it comes to games as of late. Both in RTS and now FPS
I wanted to write the same thing! Seems like a couple of developers realized how much untapped potential exists in that franchise.
Seriously the stuff I've seen kicks ass. I love it. Like the RTS is the first RTS I've kind of wanted to play. I've never played them before so I'm pretty sure it won't go great but I'm still thinking about it.

My second match I got left behind after holding the line for my team and some random chad ran out of the drop ship yelling “cover me” and rescued me and we both then made it back alive. I already think this game is the best

One game I just kept building walls in a circle as three huge fellas nearly killed me multiple times

3rd match of mine yesterday. half of the team was at extract already, other half mainly medics were still behind along with other troopers. me and a bunch of other Bastion/machine gunners used the become a bunker ability on a chokepoint and fired our guns for cover while one guy with a carbine was behind yelling over comms for everybody to keep running and forget fighting and just let the MG guys handle the cover fire then reverse it after everyone was on board already
10/10 moment
This game is the definition of an Early Access Game done right.
I'm gonna be that guy and say the devs categorically said it won't have community servers, server browser or mod support, which is a big disappointment for a game that's basically made for a community. Maybe the community can change the mind of the devs. It's certainly promising and good fun as is with a few caveats. I hope the devs listen and do a good job of development during the early access period.
@@skywardsoul1178 They said in there FAQ that "There are no current plans for mod support", not that there won't be mod support. So, there is a chance for it in the future. In regard to servers, in the FAQ it asks, "Will there be a server browser?" the response is "As Starship Troopers: Extermination uses studio-operated servers, there will not be a distributed server browser." I am hoping they allow community servers in the future, but I am not certain what they will do. It doesn't look they have straight up said there won't be any of these in the future unless they have stated elsewhere what their intentions are.
@@posterus4413 Agreed. I think currently it is more like the devs want to keep everything as much inhouse as possible this way they can develop the game without having to worry about could it be something a third party did. or a mod did. and people mistake it for it being the game. etc. etc.

@@posterus4413 I'll basically take that at face value as "not happening" when purchasing a product and they say there are no plans for something. I hope that'll change, but you can't count on it, and until that changes, it's a negative against the game sadly.
Maybe it'll be a post 1.0 thing, but they didn't say that, so again all we have is optimism that they might decide to, which isn't a solid foundation upon which to buy or sell a product.

The pacing is just so much fun. Something about that last base defense and then the mad run to the dropship. Covering your teammates, diving into the mod to save a downed ally. Its good times and I don't think really gets conveyed over video.

The mad dash to the drop ship gets better every time. Especially when you’ve got someone blasting Klendathu Drop over the soundboard.
As an Assault I feel a nigh-religious obligation to set Thermo Charges behind me while i run for the dropship then stay behind to detonate them so that the slowest teammates have a clear lane to the dropship.

@@mellowsans2944 Well considering that it's made by a reputable company, it's had a very successful launch, its very high-quality for an Alpha build compared to many big-budget games, and it caters to a fanbase that hasn't gotten a SST FPS game in 20+ years, I think it'll last a good long while.
@@justinbaker5749 Considering how EA games tend to turn out, you're correct so long as it outlasts the initial hype and the devs don't f up spectacularly.
A lot of EA games die a month or two after the initial release when they're reliant on word of mouth to bring in new players and the old players move on because no matter how fun it is there's only so long you can play the same game before you want something else.
I'm not sure if "reputable" is a good choice of wording for the company as the only other game that they did that had a margin of success was Squad however nothing has really been done for that game content wise by the looks of it as the last piece of free content for Squad was being slammed with negative reviews sighting the amount of microtransactions that are within the game.
Same thing can sadly be said for the game they published "beyond the wire" it's been slammed "recently" with negative reviews sighting that the game's abandoned by Redstone so if these chaps do want to make good impressions they will need to keep the support going for the title without having their focused changed and something tells me that focus is going to change with or without them because the suits at the top of the company will only care about one thing and one thing alone, MONEY.

He didn't even write the story of the film, the scriptwritter did read the book so a surprising amount of the original shines through which is what probably what messed with Vernhovens vision.

It's rad when a team doing an adaptation truly appreciates the source material.
Starship Troopers Extermination: One of the few games that you can just hold down the fire button and somehow gain accuracy.
One of the few game where it's better if you don't prematurely reload too often even if you can. You'd want to dump your 600 rounds ammo pool at the horde as quick as possible or they'll get you and the time spent on prematurely reloading is the time you are not shooting.
This is just proof that the Starship troopers fandom has been fighting bugs for years and we are finally seeing the brave soldiers return home and turn their stories into games. Just so those that haven’t joined have a chance to kill some bugs!
Me who likes horde shooters like Deep Rock Galactic and Earth Defense Force but doesn’t know much about Starship Troopers: Uh yeah totally let’s stick it to those bugs fellow Starship Trooper fan 😅

It’s good to see this universe is finally getting the recognition it deserves
For those who don't know, you can actually equip the rocket launchers on your secondary slot. That way you'll have something to use when the launcher ammo runs out while you're in the middle of fighting hordes.

Between this and the RTS one, Starship Troopers now has the foundation for some sort of hybrid mode, where 1-2 commanders play the RTS, but some of the infantry squads are controlled by players in FPS mode.
News broke out about a young serviceman of Games and Theory leaked numorous classified documents about the war effort in an internet chatroom called Bug Shaker Central.

got to say i joined to do my part when i got the game, first or second match, i was expecting a kind of bad game, but i was pleasantly surprised on my first, and second especially, on my second game we had a big group obviously, but that wasn't just it we had comradery over killing bugs and towards the end extraction, it felt like a scene straight out of a movie, i picked someone up who had been downed and we ran our butts to the drop ship to extract when he got there he yelled "you saved my life!" to which i replied "I did my part!" 10/10 game for what it is right now, would love to see more on it!

@Johnny Appleseed 81 that's what I'm saying. They seem to be playing on veteran in this video and it seems to have a lot more bugs than the other videos I've seen which seem to all be playing on the easier difficulties.
@@justsomeguy1136 I play on the hardest difficulty available now. A lot more bugs and encounter them far more often. Infestation level almost always reach the highest and things get crazy real quick
@Johnny Appleseed 81 that's kind of what I thought. Saw a tik tok the other night and someone said the same thing but It seemed like they were on a lower difficulty. Definitely seems like the higher difficulties is the way to play.
@@justsomeguy1136 It was hard on normal when it first come out but since then people leveled up, got better weapons and perks and have gotten use to everything there is to know. So it seems like a cake walk because by the time you play it will be with veterans.

Another amazing coop game is deep rock galactic, you play as one of four dwarves:gunner, driller,engineer and scout.
There are various mission types like:mining expedition, escort duty, on-site refining and more.The community is super friendly and the only paid things are cosmetic pack.

You could absolutely do a Helldivers mod for this and have it work REALLY well. Similar premise and enemies but with different weapons, drop-pod insertion and fire support spam

The number one cause of death of recruits when killing Arachnids arent the bugs themselves. Its the veterans trolling them regarding the supply drops.

To be fair though, hardware back then wasn't really ready for it, but it was the most fun to play coop against any type of swarming aliens.
