I remember just a couple weeks after this,I came to Branson for the first time,we knew something had happened and gave branson time to rebuild, when we came back, there were signs of the tornado, but we liked it,on my way from branson
Thank you so much for the video of damage in Branson. You captured the true scope of what the tornado did to our (only) vacation spot. We are from Kansas City, Kansas & was planning a trip to Branson soon. Again, thank you so much. You did a fantastic job. Be well & God bless.... Carey & Rhonda Dickerson
I was at home when this happened, I lived in Hollister Missouri now I live in Ridgedale Missouri and I remember hiding In the closet…prayers for family’s 10 years later.
It is now 2021, and there are still a few signs of the damage that this tornado caused. Some of the motels that got the most damage were ‘mom and pop’ motels, and from what I heard, the wonders couldnt afford to have them torn down. Some of the places rebuilt, and other places did get torn down and something else was rebuilt in its place. I was in Branson a few days to a week after this tornado and they weren’t open in a few days like the mayor said. The damage was too extraordinary. I was on the other side of town eating lunch while I was there, and talked to a woman whose husband had been working nights in the Jubilee grocery store by the WalMart that got hit so hard. He called her and told her that he was buried under debris in the frozen food section and asked her to call the FD to come get him out. He had no idea how extensive the tornado was, nor how blessed he was just to be able to live through what he lived through! Also , I was in the WalMart parking lot and was totally shocked to see that there was a bank ATM that was literally pulled out of its mooring in the concrete by this tornado!!!!
Shoney's had just completed a $1 million remodel, and was set to open March 1, 2012. After fighting with the city, it was decided the building was not structurally safe, and bulldozed shortly after. A new open design building was constructed, and opened, which is what is still there today.
We was in Branson for my first trip there ever in August 2011 just a few short months before this happened. We rode the Ducks and even shopped in that H and J Gifts and shirt shop and also the huge red barn shops called Ozarklands. We also shopped in the Jubilee store and went through the Titanic Museum. We also went to Downtown Branson to the famous Dicks 5&10 store. We also went to the huge Tablerock Lake Dam. So sad to see all this damage. We was there in Missouri just a bit over 2 months past the huge devastating F5 Tornado that ripped through Joplin Missouri. We visited Precious Moments Museum in Carthage Missouri and while we was going to go to Joplin to see the devastation that was left behind that F5 Tornado we didn't go. I wished we had of went but I am glad that we didn't due to my illness at the time as my heart would have not liked to see what was left of a huge beautiful city that Joplin was and still even to today still is. I know its been 10 years now and I know that Joplin is still recovering from that huge disaster. My thoughts and prayers are still with the many people who lost their lives that terrible day and may God continue to give them the comfort they need! Please take all Tornado and all Weather events seriously and heed all warnings.
I live 4 half hours from there. My dads parents still have the cracks in the ceiling from a tree that fell on the bathroom second floor. Beautiful house. Only major damage caused. Going there in 4 weeks!
I used to live in branson. I was in 4 grade when this happend. I remember school was canceled the next day then on thursday everyone told stories. I lived about 15 or 20 minutes from branson so nothing happend to us except our lawn furniture got flung across our yard. but I remember one of my classmates (who lived in the hilton by the branson landing) describes the fear and how 100s of people trampled over each other get to the bottom. He described how he watched a guy get his head cut oprn when the celling collapsed. thats alot of trama for a 4 grader and I was so thankful everyone I knew was okay. And fun fact my step dad got remarried on this day.
i feel bad for what has happened there but no one caught a vieo or a picture of the autual tornado and not just the damage and i know it was in the morning and a that but a least somene had been up to caphture it all well
I was at that Walmart and mall in the beginning of the video the previous summer of this video. Makes me sad so see this is what it turned to be. We went to silver dollar city and I was wondering if there was any damage there

It was quite a night.

It was very surreal to walk around Branson that morning.
Thank you for the story and I hope you visit Branson again.
Wow! I didn't know Branson had a tornado.
It was a big one that did a lot of damage, but could have been so much worse.
I go to Branson a couple of times a year. Even though I am not a resident this absolutely breaks my heart.

Maybe we should go there and do an inspection...of the buffet!

Both tornadoes were awful. Your final sentence is so true.
Thanks for watching, and taking time to comment.
I was there on the 28th! Not even 24 hours before the tornado hit!! So glad we were not there and that no one died!!

I slept through that tornado.... Later i went down the strip of 76 and it was destroyed...
Branson will never be the same...
What rating did the tornado get?
Reports have varied over time, but EF2 seems to be the answer.
Hasnt been the same there since
Joshua Skelton Honestly it’s still not the same. There is still to this day very evident signs that there was a tornado.
Does anybody know if the Titanic museum got any damage?
Thankfully, It was minimal.
