Bought a 1999 Hymer S510 8 years ago for £16.5.. lived in it full time since.. just insurance, diesel and sundries..❤ been from UK to Morocco and as far East as Armenia in it..❤
The prices of those are crazy. Sure they look nice but really a cupboard is a cupboard, and a shower is a shower no matter how nice it’s made to look. I could never justify spending that much on a motorhome / campervan. Great video ‘tho. We didn’t get to go to see the show so your video has showed us what we missed. We will only ever be buying 2nd hand.
Buying a brand new vehicle is always going to be more expensive than a old one, @eviema. I think next year we may see them dropping in price or manufactures going under
It is always interesting to see new design choices. Sometimes you do wonder, what the designer was thinking. Eg the cutlery drawer which takes the floor of a large cupboard, or a foldaway sink paired with a foldaway toilet. Not sure how practical that would be in use. Thanks for the video!
If I was to buy a new caravan/motorhome/campervan I would only buy from a nearby ( as close as possible) dealer. So WHEN it needed warranty work and lets be realistic it is the customer who in effect does the P.D.I. then I wouldn't be travelling silly distance to take them get home then go back to collect the unit
Thank you for showing us around these vans. I liked the 590 roller team best of the ones you showed but still prefer Wanda. I do love your light switch obsession as some are in really silly places like in a cupboard😮. I’m not a fan of the folding, changing washrooms as I think that they would be hard to clean. Take care Gill
Last year at the NEC. We seen a chausson in a Ford transit auto fixed bed in grey. S697 GA sport line: Looked amazing. Was £59.667 Base spec. Show spec. £65.000
I know you don’t like the ‘step’ at the swivelling front chairs but without those steps most will have feet not touching the floor making long sitting there quite uncomfortable with hanging feet/legs.
Very interesting. You showed me a couple the wife and i missed, so thank you for that. Good prices compared to the rest, and i do enjoy your concise reviews. But please can you add one little detail that's quite important to many, I think. - Number of berths and belted seats. However! As some of you responders point out, £60000 plus is still an awful lot of money for a good proportion of the UK populus. £60000 over 10 years, or 120 months, with interest, is going to knock you back, somewhere in the region of £600/month. That is a mortgage price for many! To end on a positive note though, it is good to see that the motorhome/campervan industry recognises this and do try to produce a range that may be within reach of the, more average, earner. Thank you for your reviews.
Enjoyed the video but none to suit us. Just wondering why all the ones selected either have 3 or 4 traveling seats. We selected our one as it only has 2 travelling seats allowing more space in the living area, interestingly the dealer we bought from said in smaller (6m) vans that 2 seat version was the most popular. Our previous van had 4 traveling seats but our passengers complained about the comfort big time!! Thanks for posting 👍👋
Why do sink/hob manufacturers use glass lids. Too easy to break and not much use as work surface. Just put hinged plastic or wooden lids on. I made my own for my campervan
Thanks for commenting, @daletinsley2954. I would guess it's because glass is more heat resistant than wood or plastic? I've heard of folks making replacement lids out of wood after the glass one was smashed
Yes that's right but one wouldn't put the lid down until cooled off. Thanks for uploading this video. You are an owner/user who " sees " these vans in their true form. Keep them coming
@@daletinsley2954it would almost certainly be illegal to use a flammable material. Even in caravans where there is no hob lid the wall behind is heat resistant.
!! How come a motorhome can be 15k less at a show. It just tells me that the original price is 15k too much. Imagine being parked up adjacent someone who had bought theirs 15k cheaper. Id be in tears.
In the current market they are heavily discounted both at the show and in the showroom. The showroom sticker price might not be discounted quite as much but would be available if they think you will walk away.
They not cheaper for the show, you can buy them at the same price anyway from the dealer's website, they even advertised at the reduced price on autotrader
As for the campers with 16/17k of extras. I bought a brand newly converted Renault trafic pop top for 17k. Mint condition full service history one owner. So the price of the base van will allow me to own/use/travel/maintain/service/repair it much longer than il own it. Food for thought eh !
Oh yeah, a campers base vehicle are from £40k+ even before the conversion, @daletinsley2954. So, if your camper was converted when it was new then it would have cost you £57k+. Second hand is always going to be cheaper than brand new.
I often see units on dealer forecourts ( rove oaktree SMC etc ) with very low mileage and less than a year old. Why would someone buy their dream purchase then give up on it and lose daft amounts of money in such a short space of time. Against my advice a workmate bought a brand new elddis avante 550 in jan19. Three months later I had to talk him out of setting fire to it. It wouldn't have burned anyway as it was too damp !!
With German brands the base price does not include even the basics that anyone would want. It is quite a surprise if an engine is not an optional extra.
i would not buy any of them too small as i am 6ft 4in tallplus i have got a proper motorhome that you said is £500000 but i got one and i have my car in the garage at the rear
38:35. "Krypton factor", that takes me back.

Probably best NEC 2024 video I have seen this year. 😊
Well that makes a refreshing change... 😊
Interesting to see ones that don't require me to sell a kidney 😂 . Cheers
Yeah, you don't want to do that, @davej433 🤣. Thanks for commenting
He he

Good reviews Ads. How weird putting a light switch in a cupboard, what are the makers thinking!!
Yeah, that's a weird one, @carolynandcocohaywood2638. It gave me the idea of searching for the light switch every time

Nice, did you buy it, @slmon66 ?
I would like to see Knaus if there are any and A class Motorhome please. Thank you

Some bailey caravans do this now !!

I'm guessing that it's probably because they need to get rid of the old stock, @daletinsley2954

Surely the most important thing about a motor home is the driving, every motor home has cupboards and other amenities..
Not necessarily, @galdessa1. Some have lots of space and other don't. Folks want to see the possibilities and options
I am so glad I built my own campervan. The build quality is not that great for the money on a new one.
As a Malibu owner you are never going to find one at base price (probably true of other brands as well).
Cheapest way to buy one is drive to Germany…
Why is that, @philipellis7039. I guess there must be a waiting list?
With German brands the base price does not include even the basics that anyone would want. It is quite a surprise if an engine is not an optional extra.
Sadly I can't afford anything over 27k second hand 😢
Just as much pleasure in an older one, plus less tech to go wrong!
Thanks for commenting, @mk1photography62
Believe it or not.. sometimes older models are better built and more reliable 😮

Still way overpriced and they are hoping they can still fleece us 🦧
