I was on hydros, oxys, percs, bensos, somas, and the like for 14 years straight. Stopping was the hardest torture i ever faced. I took pain pills not just for an injury but i loved the energy it gave me mentally and physically. The withdraw hell of course the body jerking and twitching, hot and cold sweating, constant tearing eyes and runny nose, pissing out my ass, vomiting, severe anxiety and depression, and the part i hated the most was 9 days straight of no sleep. Having insomnia for that long alone is a nightmare let me tell you. When i finally was able to sleep i started to feel a little better physically. Healing from the mental withdraw takes a lot longer. I had to learn to enjoy life again even up to the little things. I can honestly say that when you get out of the long dark tunnel of withdraw hell the reward waiting for you is a better feeling and high than you can imagine. Sure i have to deal with pain now and then from injuries but my worst day now is better than my best day on meds.

@@jaycomayco after completely being free of the withdraw it took me a couple months to focus my mind to enjoy things like i use to. Sometimes it takes a few days but it's like an old time water pump. You pull the lever just a few times and nothing comes out, but after a few more tries the water comes out. But it all depends on the person's makeup, how long the drug useage, the type of drug/drugs. Working out with weights and power walking helped me a bit. My best wishes to you.

Thank you for responding I’m sorry it took me so long to see it.
You and I have about the same amount of time of usage. I’m at about 14 plus years. I Also take hydros and the occasional benzo. I want to quit but I can never make it through the acute stage of withdrawal. I have horrible muscle cramps. My jaw gets tight, I get Charlie horses, my feet draw up, Horrible headaches, restlessness, heart pounding no sleep. And the list goes on. I wish I could make it through the acute stage at least. I’m so sick of this hamster wheel. I’m glad you made it through. And I’m glad you are starting to enjoy life again. Hope some day to be able to say the same

The first day off it was ok..but the 2nd day was way worse...it's been 5 days..feeling better...but still can feel it in me... my opinion is Please if you are serious about getting off opiates ...do not go on methadone or suboxene... it's hard to get off.... it's not WORTH IT!!!!!!! I would still say that tapering 10% every 7 days is way too fast. The other thing you didn't mention is that 4 days feels like 4 weeks, time goes so so slow when in withdrawl, its like time just stands still. Brilliant information video though.

    • @Itried20takennames
      @Itried20takennames 6 місяців тому +2

Agree. I would say 5% reduction per week, at most. Just as you developed a tolerance, it takes weeks to months to reverse this and to give your receptors and body time to down regulate. It can be done….slowly.
Going cold turkey is like deciding to drive into a wall at 60 mph, instead of hitting the brakes to stop, because the wall has the “benefit” of being “faster” at the cost of a lot of pain and damage, Better to hit the brakes to stop, than slam painfully into the wall.

Just as the tolerance goes up, it can come down with a slow taper (wait 5% longer between doses or 5% less dose per week). It takes discipline, but better than withdrawal.
There aren’t much more shortcuts than that, and many places that promise help and take money for it…..deliver little to nothing. The best is a gradual taper that you stick to as a religion, giving your body time to slowly adjust.

Most drugs like coke are 90% psychological..... Opiates opioids are 125% worse... The physical.... Restless legs? My legs gave me hell for years before I started oppies. In fact, my first oxycodone pill gave me a break like I never had before. Looking back I think I drank a lot at night hoping to get drunk enough to sleep, avoiding restless legs. My poor legs....I would beat my legs. It sucked. Odd thing now, I've been on oxycodone now for 15 years, 4 pills per 24 hours seven days a week. I make myself follow directions on bottle. My dose? 7.5 milligrams per 5-6 hours. I started at 5 mg 4 times per day. Sound odd? Self control, and a lot of mental control. And yes, there are times I don't know how long I can keep this up. I've never taken this drug to get high. It's about pain. I've never failed a drug screen test. Never been kicked out of pain management. But I did have one doctor that I thought I'd end up choking the bastard. Cold bastard he was.

If that was actually possible, every single addict that was “done “ would just taper off. This conversation wouldn’t even be happening because everyone would know what time it is when they’re ready to quit. Just saying that this is my own experience and perspective.

I’ve never sought out drugs to get high but after a bad car crash in the freeway, I went through 2 back surgeries , the last taking my discs from my lumbar spine L-1 through L-5 out and steel rods & screws to fuse my spine. I also had 2 Spinal Cord Stimulater trials that failed . I had a year of Physical therapy , dozens of spinal cord & Facet injections , along with Nerve Ablation burning , chiropractors, and Acupuncture. My pain management doctor gave me a Fentanyl patch & Percocet. It helped me so much that I could finally dull the pain and be able to do more chores around tge house . I’ve seen the same Pain management clinic for 11 years. I had my usual 3 month check up last month & everything was normal , except when I called the same pharmacy I’ve used for 11 years they told me my doctors office didn’t send in my prescriptions. I called the clinic and they said , oh your prescriptions are pending. They’ll be sending them shortly , only they didn’t . I called 5 times and they said the same thing. Now I’m having severe withdrawal symptoms. I feel like I’m dying. I can’t eat, I can’t sleep , I have chills & cold sweats, I’ve had horrible Hallucinations, I’ve got a fever and just can’t do anything. I’ve never gotten high on my meds but they did dull the pain. Now I’m dealing with the back & nerve pain plus the Arachnoiditis . I don’t know what to do or how to live this way. 😢

Best wishes Will. Keep going... focus and keep going. Kratom and good cannabis helped me out a lot. Try cannabis edibles for a sleepy effect. I watched a bunch of vids on Matt’s channel. I learned so much. Watch his vids on nootropics and get some ASAP. The 2 that I felt helped me was L-Tyrosine for day time to help me get through daytime life (work, house work, errands) and L-Theanine (sp?) for the evening. It’s supposed to help the brain get into a more relaxed state of mind. I also used cannabis to help calm my anxiety down. It was awful. Thankfully I live in California, so I had access to all kinds of top shelf products at the shops. It costs a lot, but your life is worth it. Remember when you feel like crap, just think it’s my life returning to me. Of course it’s going to feel wild, out of control, painful, anxious, sad and fearful, but it will turn around and start to feel exciting, happy, loving, creative and most of all proud. Once you get to week 2, your brain and body tend to synchronize again. You feel burnt out, but you are amazed you made it out of the dark woods. Now it’s about healing. One day at a time is all everyone needs. Just focus on 1 day, each day, everyday. Like dogs do ✌️😂😉

Thank you for this video! 19 years ago I was in a very serious auto accident,a drunk driver lost control and hit me head on. I survived thank God, but suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. For some reason I lost the ability to stay asleep. Fall asleep just fine, but staying asleep was and still is a problem. We tried all kinds of sleep meds but none of them worked or made me feel terrible in the morning. So my neurologist wanted to try hydrocodone and prescribed it for me and low and behold it worked pretty good. So fast forward 15 years I've been on hydrocodone 3 tablets a day as needed. I don't want to take it anymore plus it's lost it's effectiveness. I'm 61 years old, I have a thriving business which I've been operating for over 35 years, never once have I abused my medication in all that time. My new physician wants me to taper off, what should be the timeline for a taper since I've been on this medication for 15 years. My dosage was 3 10/325 mg a day as needed, but most of the time I only used two and a half pills. Sorry about the longevity of my post, and thank you!

Hello Matthew. I'm 62 yrs old. I'm three years out from medicinal use of hydrocodone and still having issues with withdrawal. Never once took more than daily prescribed. In fact, I rarely used the full daily dosage. But, I took them for seven years. Never had a bad reaction or negative side-effects. So I quit cold turkey. I am ADHD and autistic (high functioning). The worst of it was over in about two weeks. I was more dependant than I knew. But now, three years out, the most amazing things happen. I'm going through serious dental issues for nearly a year. I'm getting a small amount of hydrocodone for severe dental pain. Matt, I'm finding if I take them for more than (only) three to five days ? I have about a week of moderate withdrawal. Also, even when I'm not taking them, I have the odd day of feeling like I'm in the middle of withdrawal. And I never got the "high" or a buzz. Being ADHD and with chronic depression since I was a child, these opiates just made me feel "normal". How on earth does three to five days on them throw me back into moderate withdrawal ? Very discouraging. I'm going to quit taking them as I feel I'm to a point of having to. Thank you. I've been following your materials since the beginning. You've emailed me a few times in the past.

@@LilyBeccaThis is just my suggestion. Not a doctor, but I have alot of experience with this kind of stuff. For someone like you, in severe, chronic pain, I would get on a dose of methadone. Most clinics will let you go as high as you want to feel comfortable. The first year will suck because you have to go everyday, and that can be tough if you have work or other obligations. But, after some time, usually 6 to 12 months, if you give clean urine, they will give you pick up days. That means you can go once a week and probably less the longer you stay " clean". Honestly I wouldn't have suggested this 10 years ago but with the poison out there now, better to be on that than dying from bad street drugs. At least you will be able to function and not chase the drug all day everyday. I hope you find a way. I always feel so bad for people in your situation who have legit physical pain.😢 good luck....

When I first got a bag, I'd do a fat bump of fent and I felt good for about 6-8 hours. Funny thing is when I got down to my last bump, instead of 6-8 hours turns in to about 2-3 hours. One morning I woke up, went straight to the bathroom and did N2. So I felt confident about that. I planned to stop that day, right? I got two my last 2 bumps, cooked some noodles with butter, salt, and pepper. Ate it, shortly after I'm throwing up tons of stomach acid and on the left side of my lower rib cage felt as if I was ever 2-3 minutes been stabbed, it was almost unbearable. I had to call an ambulance and long story short, I had a serious bowl obstruction and was hospitalized for three days. Doctor said if I couldn't pass a bowl movement in 5 days, I went to surgery to be permanently surgically attached colostomy bag. So take it as I did at the 35 year old perspectives, I am a attractive tall an straight guy, I can't honestly tell you the why I feel the way I feel about it but it was going to be a devastating blow to my confidence and this is going to be something that I was going to be Holly embarrassed and thank goodness on the third day pasta bowel movement and I went home. Now and I do opiates I'll make sure to every 3 to 5 days take a stool softener and drink lots of water, and if I go a week without going to make myself stop an suck it up until I got it before I start again. This is experience talking, 100% true.

Hey guys, just sharing my experience so far on this but will try to remember to update once complete on the other side. But what has helped me so far (I am on day 8 I believe without loading for 3 days before stopping, I pretty much have been in withdrawals since day 1 while I was loading with about .25 a day for the first 2 days which still meant no sleep and RLS) is to be able to combine the Vit c method with even more of a taper method. So I got down to .5 subs (after being on opioids for around 20 years with the last 7 of those 20 on subs) and then I began the Vit C. You would think that should be a cake walk at that dose right!? Yeah I was COMPLETELY wrong! Though I’d say people are right when they say Vit C gets rid of around 70% of symptoms (and some parts of the day I’d say up to 90) but the sleep part (with the RlS) was still in the mix even though I’d say the RLS was nowhere near as intense as it is without the Vit c. So I have used .25 sub on day 2, day 5, and again on day 7 which so far seems to be SO much better than going completely black and white (just for me personally) SO FAR!
I’ve found that even just knowing I have a “get out of hell free card”, I was more calm, but also I have the Vit c (lip c) to help when I need it (which I find that 3-4000 mg is a good dose for me too make sure receptors are saturated, and it seemed to work better than lower doses for me on this protocol, which again I have been on opioids for a little more than 1/2 of my life due to getting prescribed them when I was a kid and did not know what I was getting myself into. And yes I got energy from them as well contrary to maybe the average person)
So I can keep you guys posted if you’d like, I just wanted to put something out there now because I figured allowing this as an option as opposed to using a military all or nothing mindset is working sm better for ME, but again know myself and have became happy (delt with most of all, of the mental issues/shadow work that I was taking the meds to cover up, so it’s less of a mental game to be happy at this point for me, and more just working through the physical stuff) before trying to get off as well if that makes sense. Also as weird as it sounds, Semen retention helps a ton (helps build more energy to help and also it strengthens nervous system) as well as (IN MY EXPERIENCE) eating as little as possible per sitting and per day because food (especially high carbs and sugars etc) stimulated my nervous system too much which gave more of those ⚡️⚡️⚡️ RLS systems occurred in intensity. The less I ate the more stable the nervous system felt, as well as allowing the body to use its energy to heal as opposed to digesting (which takes A MASSIVE amount of energy to heal. Both food and our s*xual energy take soooooo much of the energy we need to heal because obviously the younger and more energy we have, the easier recovery is on some level ❤️‍🩹)
I really hope this helps guys and remember though it feels like it’s taking a million years, a week or two for the rest of our lives to be happy again, is SO worth it!
I’m here to help if/when I can! Sending love and hugs! 🫶🫶🫶

today marks 2 weeks off methadone, I tepered from near 200mg and 13 years and jumped ship at 6mg, I had mild acute symptoms even went hiking during the peak, everyday past day 7 started improving but the past two days have been bad with brain fog and getting to sleep. When i did CT from 20mg methadone I swear i had ptsd fear of withdrawals, i could not find pleasure in anything for months and stupidly got back on methadone. The no feeling of pleasure was the worst. Im so thankful I didnt have that issue this time

Thank you sooooo much for this information...only now Im really not looking forward to getting off of Methadone. Been using it for pain management for two years now but its time to stop because in all honesty I always seemed to run out early......ok fine, I abused it!!!!! I dont know how many times I have gone through withdrawal symptoms like the worst being restless leg syndrome that can last like 6 days, no sleep, crapy attitude and yet I still go back when its time for refill. What a stupid pinhead, trying to be nice with words, I have better words to describe myself right now. Im so tired of this and now it seems my best bet is to tapper off slowly, very slowly. Im so scared of the pain. Pray for me please. I want to be free.

I’m on day 10 off methadone. I stopped on a very low dose but after about 4 days I started moderate withdrawal. I’m using vitamins C & E as well as a benzo to help with sleep otherwise without I slept terribly, rarely. I feel very alone especially a single person during covid

@@ElevationRecovery great info Matt. The explanations you give go deeper than most videos. Not having dopamine is the reason we feel like ASS ! Other than DLPA and Tyrosine what else do you recommend to jump start dopamine rebuild. ??

I relapsed over the lockdown I’m on my own too so I get how hard it can get when you’re on your own and trying to do your best to get well.
I came off my beup script last week i was rough for six days the whole no sleep head fucked covered in sweat the whole thing so I went back on the meds for a bit .
I need help to keep out of my own way at times and a hug lol

This was very informative thanks. Enjoyed the bird walking back and forth!I I detoxed in county jail for 11 months. It was a cold turkey detox. It was HELL.
I am a chronic pain patient and at age 63 I’m still on buprenorphine. Wish I could stop but it’s not interfering with much but maybe health ( maybe) but definitely sleep. I can’t handle a taper at 63 since there are always some withdrawals coming in from my experience. I’ve been on opiates medically since 21 years old I’m now 63. I’ve been on 160 mg OxyContin daily for many years and up to 600 mg morphine ER daily for probably 12 years straight and every long acting opiate our there as well as BTP short acting. I don’t know if my body knows how to function without opiates. I’m terrified of PAWS. I think I’m stuck for life on buprenorphine. I don’t know.
FYI - it took 9-10 months in jail before I felt “normal” . I couldn’t stop “ slapping the bed “ for that time tossing and turning like crazy. I was beat up a few times by my bunky because he couldn’t sleep because of me. I never wish that on anyone.
    Thanks for listening

Fex what is good to have home, valium, antihistamine, musclerelaxer, sleepingpills

I've had to withdrawal so many times that I've picked up some wisdom over the years. I would do exactly what he said he did in the video to get off opiates. Find a doctor who does a quick micro dosing of suboxone - say a week, and then taper you off. It's going to be way easier than trying to withdrawal off oxy. Avoid any doctor that wants you to keep you suboxone for years and/or indefinitely.
