Happy weekends Wade! It is a neat looking car! I haven’t seen or heard this Tag car before this video. It does have the vintage appeal and I actually prefer the wide wheels in this kit. A decal-free bodyshell in matt black would be cool.
I have cars present themselves all the time. Been on the hunt for a yok 95WCS for years. Had one present itself just last week and it arrived yesterday.
Hiya fella, hope your well, loving the TAG Jet great to find one unbuilt and a nice addition to the collection. Will you build it or keep it as is? Take care :)
Hi Andy!! Gonna have a look at the plastics, maybe try a screw in one. If the threads turn into powder like they’ve done on both my Coyote and the pro 10, I will just leave everything in the box. I hope that won’t be the case but I’m not very optimistic 🙄
This is a new one for me, I know nothing about thme but it does look like a cool kit. Congrats on getting fancier version of it as well! Sending some good luck vibes your way as well!
You're in luck Wade. That's the Pro version of the TAG Jet. Robbe also marketed the Jet as the Geronimo. This is what I know about the differences between the Jet and Jet Pro. Anodised gold parts instead natural aluminium. Bigger improved shocks. The Jet uses smaller diameter Coyote style shocks. The rear lower arms are beefier much like the Pro 10. Not sure about the front lower arms. The Jet uses thinner lower Coyote arms all round. Both seem to use upper Coyote arms. Black bumper instead of white. White wheels instead of red. The spike tyres on the Pro were optional on the Pro 10. The Jet uses Pro 10 kit tyres. That's all I can tell you. It probably has full bearings. Check to see if it has front universals, you might be lucky. The Jet and Geronimo are fairly rare but the Jet Pro is almost non-existent. Really nice score.
Hey thank you for all the info this is awesome!!! I got excited for a minute and ran in there to check the box for uj’s - only doggies 😂 but still excited to know there actually is a pro version. Now I’m definitely afraid to build it 😬😬 Thanks again brother 👍👍
WOW, ive heard about Tag but dont think ive ever seen a nib one ? I do love that box art paint 👌 this is the type of kit i would love to find nib, build it and run it at a big vintage meet, and pray nothing breaks 😂
I have no idea tbh - there’s like one guy on a couple forums who seems to know anything about these, otherwise I can’t find much about them. Cheeses get better with age though right??
@@wadeskelton7585 I think that’s true sometimes but you have to be careful with that soft cheese. I wouldn’t even think about touching that stuff as might kill you! 😂
Nice to see that kit again. I got in contact with that same Italian seller a week or 2 ago but decided not to buy it because of the missing decals. Glad you bought it now. Greeting from the Netherlands.
Wow you tracked it down that’s very cool - had it been up on EBAY very long? I saw it and literally pulled the trigger immediately I was so scared it was gonna be gone by the time I could hit buy it now 😂 I had absolutely no idea it was anything other than the standard kit, I just thought someone had “borrowed” some of the parts and replaced them with parts from some other kit 🤷♂️ Never gonna be able to replicate those decals for sure, not too sure what to do about that as they kinda make the car!
@@wadeskelton7585 Hello Wade, i recently bought a unknown (never driven) chassis and afterwards discovered that it was a TAG Jet / Geronimo. Unfortunately it is missing the long drivebelt to the front and both the front dogbones. In my search for these missing parts i came across that kit you now aquired. I contacted the seller but in the end did not buy the kit. Sadly the original drivetrain parts are no where to find....... Do you perhaps know if there are parts of an other type of car that will fit ?
So I measured the front dog bones specifically and they are 2.677 inches or 70 mm - this is exactly the same as almost any original kyosho optima/Ultima car so that should be very easy to find - or I have tons and could definitely send you a pair no problem. Unfortunately the wheel studs are quite a bit longer so hopefully you have those. As for the belt it is a 2520 mxl (megadyne) and it’s ~ 4.8 mm wide 315 teeth - length is 25.2 inches or 640 mm long It looks like they are available on EBay from Chinese sellers but the width might be something you’d have to change yourself - I’m seeing some that are 10 mm wide… Hope this helps you out man! So there is a front diff in the car already correct??
I actually found the exact belt you need on a site www.ametric.com The full part number is 2520 MXL 019 and it’s $19.72 and according to their site they have 10!
Thanks for your help. I 'am now going to hunt these parts down. And yes there is already a front diff in the car. Meaby that was factory stock because there seemed to be a two wheel drive version of the car as well.......@@wadeskelton7585
Never even hear of a Tag great kit thanks for teaching me about this new car.. Appreciate the vid bud..
Thank you for checking it out - you probably haven’t heard about it because you actually have a life aside from RC cars unlike myself 😀

Thanks Terence yeah gonna take skills to make this body look cool all black could be the straightest path forward 👍
This is has Schumacher cat design features all over it good looking kit!
Yeah seems like someone at TAG was a Schumacher fan for sure 😄

And I can’t wait to see what it looks like brother 🤩🤩🤩
Yeah, it’s strange how these old cars find new owners
Very interesting catch as always Wade👌
Thank you I do seem to have an eye for crapily made RC cars 😂
Cool buggy!👌 I like if they are a little bit out of "the mainstream", not that much usual and so on😉
Same here brother, the weirder the better 👍👍👍
Those spike tires look like some kind of medieval devise. Very nice find
Yes but they’re so soft & flimsy I’m sure most of the spikes will be gone after the first run 😄
really Really cool buggy, looks fantastic 😃😃👍👍😎😎
Glad you think so brother thanks for checking it out 👍

Thanks brother it’s a good from far kinda kit 😁
I’m sending them positive vibes right back at you!!!
Another 4WD.. this one certainly is an odd ball
Yeah I’d compare this thing to the bluebird growler optima clone or like one of those kits you buy where you put a Ferrari body on a Buick chassis 😄

a nice translucent tamiya blue, no backing to let the light shine through
So we got a vote for flat black and a vote for translucent blue let’s see if we get a tie breaker vote!!!
To bad they don't make it anymore someone should bring it back.
Yeah that’s what I’m talking about!
Very cool
Right on man!!!

Richard - if I do build this kit AND the plastics don’t crumble while I’m doing it maybe this can be arranged! It would make for a cool story 😃
@@wadeskelton7585 will deffo be good to see you run it, but fingers crossed the plastics aint brittle. Box art 👌
LMAO at the cheese references! Another near RC car that I have never heard of. Do you know what year these were sold?
