Nowadays corporate guys see this and think “man, a million miles? That’s 10 more trucks we didn’t sell. We’ve gotta make these things blow up at 100k.”
Amen
Nowadays? I’m sure this was a thing in the sixties and seventies with caddys and fords
That was the joke back in the late 90s about non 7.3 Powerstroke Fords... 36,000mile warranty and it goes bang at 37,000 lol meanwhile the odometer on my parents old 12v 92, stopped at 128,xxx 25 years ago. Last I saw the log-book had 308,xxx, original clutch
Not nowadays, dude! They already introduced that policy decades ago. Example? Mercedes-Benz after releasing model W140 or W124
My first car was a 1979 Mercury Cougar. It needed a new short block after like 80k miles. Nobody would accept that these days, but it was expected from cars back then.
Doing work for a million miles and not being in a land fill is probably the biggest testament to it being a truly green vehicle
while i still think Volvo gives you a new car

I doubt there will ever be a million mile Tesla, Prius, or whatever hybrid or ev you care to pick. I know engines are getting up there but the batteries are ridiculous to price and change.

I’m at a point in my life where the only time I realize how much time has passed is when Tyler talks about 1 year ownership of cars….
I’m there with you
Oh my God you're right
Why did you make me think about this... damn.
Yep
This hit hard bro. Time to reevaluate my life.
For having a million miles and only having that amount of rust is stunning for a Ram of that year. Props to the original owner and Hoovie for keeping it alive. 👍🏻
I think it was from Texas.
It's stunning that the body exists at all being a former hot shot truck in the oil fields - usually those things are beat to crap within a year!
@@gorak9000 my old 92 d250 with the Cummins was a hotshot truck and I’ll admit the body is prettyy rough. Not rusty just a lot of dents. Only 240k km on her too 🤪
I think if you contact Cummins they send you the 1000000 mile badge for it
Yup, Hoovie just has to give Cummins the ESN
Nope lies, that's Toyota that does that
@@Scratch-athon volvo mercedes and volkswagen do it too. How can it be lies
He said that bruh
Finally broke in!
It’s a shame there’s no sentiment in the auto industry. All they care about is sales and selling parts.
I’m with Hoovie: a million miles should be celebrated!
As a former contractor at Cummins Engines....Congrats on 1 million miles! If you want those guys in Columbus, IN to take notice...put another 9 million on it. HAHA!
HELL YES!
I just have Mr. Regular's Dodge Cummins Truck review intro ringing in my head so goddamn loudly at the moment...
Haha yep. A million miles is alot but people have put that on crown vics and Camrys.
@@DJ-sr9yq But can you strap 12,000 lbs behind a Camry and have it live that long?
@@tornadotj2059 no, and that's exactly my point. That Cummins still has alot of life left in it. I'm saying that's alot of mileage sure but people do that on camrys. It's not as Impressive for the Cummins guys.
I always think of that Married With Children episode when Al had 999,999 miles on his old Dodge Duster and it accidentally rolled out of his garage and rolled over the last mile back to 0, lol.
Honestly can't believe they only offered $1500. Would have expected at least $2500-$3000. The body and interior look great on this truck.
The "broken" odometer probably lowered the price substantially.
They don't give a damn about parts value... It's computer generated minimum average auction value and that's it.
They are not pulling parts from vehicles, they have no interest in a truck like this, its auction material... and they would profit off that.
@@volvo09 Hi. Im actually the sales consultant that went through this appraisal with Hoovie. The broken odometer// the high mileage is the offer was so low. I even told him. Odds are he would get more private party. All of the vehicles that go to an auction normally in the grand scheme of things we take a loss at the end of the day on.
The broken odometer is what really probably killed it. Has to go to auction with a TMU announcement which just kills any value it might have had.

You could join the Cummins high mileage club and get a grill badge that says 1 million miles on it. I think you make a profile online then take a picture of your odometer. Once it is approved you pay a couple dollars and they send you the grill badge. The grill badge is pretty nice for the price.
But the odometer now reads something completely inaccurate.
@@robertbeirne9813 true but he has been doing videos for a couple months of it about to roll over. Also you could hookup a scan tool to see the mileage if that is possible
@@robertbeirne9813 bro what 😂🤦♂️ no it doesn’t it’s a million plus whatever it says on it currently. Not exactly rocket science to figure out what the true mileage is.
The video has already addressed how much Dodge and Cummins give a crap about Hoovies truck. An investigation in to the mileage, to get a “badge”, is out of the question.
@@robertbeirne9813 ok I'll call off the detectives.
I would love to see you interview the guy that drove this rig. There's gotta be some good stories. That's one hell of a driver and you know he's haulin ass in flat oil country land. Having a truck that is sorted like that but basically considered worthless sounds awesome. You can do whatever, and anything can happen to it and it'll be carefree whatever occurs!
I now will start looking for a high mileage cummins.
Definitely not actually considered worthless, Carmax just aren't real car people. This thing would go for crazy money in some places, mileage is next to irrelevant on most diesel trucks.
Agreed!!
if i was gonna have a truck for doing work (not daily driving) i would almost prefer it be an old beater to some $90,000 land yacht with heated seats and touch screens,
Thats why i like to use trailers to haul stuff, i can throw stuff in the bed without worrying if it will scratch my car,
@@Sheehy223 Oh, I understand it wouldn't be worthless to everyone, myself included. In fact I'd say its the best truck to own because of its status!

*hoovies mom alert!*
When Al Bundy's Dodge turned over 1,000,000 miles, they were going to give him a Viper. Where's Tyler's Viper?
they couldn't film when it rolled over since he fell asleep in the driveway, but at least they gave him a Mobile Phone, and given when the episode was filmed, was still not a bad consolidation price
So at least a small Diecast Model of a Viper or Pick-Up would be nice from the Commercial Arm of Stellantis, even when the logical successor to Tylers Pick-Up is a rebadged Fiat Ducato Flatbed
haha, i remember that.
Didn't he have a Viper for one of the Car Treks
Al and 'the Dodge'... I love the episode where he took it to the car wash and they lost the car after the wash, only to finally realize it was a red car under all the dirt. "Come to think of it, I do remember now buying a red car!"
@@Otherj3839 I just watched that episode on Peacock! Been decades since I'd seen any MWC. Always love the Dodge episodes.

@@G-Mastah-Fash Yes, but worse.
When most dealerships were out of cars, they were actually offering a decent value to buy cars, but last I checked, they’re back to lowballing
I can imagine the fact that it has full on timing gears instead of chain with plastic guides is a major contributing factor as to how it reached that mileage on the odometer with the original engine.
Fuck the plastic guides ugh!!! Fuck!!
It’s a Cummins they’re built to last like that
That rust isn't that bad I'd have it fixed if you plan to continue using it
Yeah, he really should. If that's the only corrosion on it it'd be worth it.
Have a body guy weld in a new fender - maybe Maaco? Good for content, at least a couple of vids
Hard to believe you say that this truck is not efficient when it’s one of the most fuel efficient pickup diesel trucks ever made. Especially the 03 Cummins 5.9 trucks. You should definitely do a giveaway and give it to a viewer! You have a awesome collection of cars
They'd buy it for 1500 as a turn around and list it for 25k
WORD!
It would go straight to auction because of age and mileage.

When I worked with a utility company there was a boom truck with an International engine with a million hours on it. They idle a LOT but it had lower miles than that. The mechanic said he changed only a water pump and an injector set. Clean oil, fuel, and air and a diesel will work a VERY VERY long time.
1 mill hours is 114+ years nice try buddy.
You should definitely fix or at least stop that rust on the bedside, these trucks will start to rot very easily and this is one of the cleaner ones I've seen.
I never see any with that much rust

These 3rd gen's are great trucks. I have an 06. Congrats on 1M miles!
Someone once told me some wisdom regarding Dodge Ram trucks.
"If you find a used Ram with the Cummins engine for sale at $21,000, you are actually looking at a $20,000 engine bolted into a $1000 truck".
I hear that all the time. They can come drive one of mine that are perfectly fine. They can come over in a 6.0 or 6.4 Ford in fact... LOL
Well done writing a check and completing someone else's work then enjoying the purchased celebration!
kinda
Congratulations Hoovie you did it, Ram may not care and there may not be much value left in the truck but at least you got the satisfaction of reaching 1,000,000 miles on it.
He did a great job writing checks.
He didn't. The oil company he bought it from did all the driving.
@@jd9119 To be fair I was mainly referring to the single moment, If he pretended that he did all the driving, that would be different. At least Hoovie represents the truth of the matter. Let him have his little fun.
Have the same truck and love it! Basic and works. Sure it isn't as luxurious as the new ones, but towing capacity, sunroof, seat heaters, and a platform that you can easily modify with out confusing the computer? I'll take it over the new ones. Did I mention 22MPG? Yeah new ones don't do that either.
I’m a GM guy, but this is a great accomplishment for Dodge and the American car industry as a whole…
Like he said with the Cummins engine this isn't a big deal. The transmission isn't a
Commercial truck grade and has been replaced several times.
A lot of cars can make it to a million under the right conditions, almost all diesels tho. The big thing is this thing is fucking modified, which means that if left stock it could last EVEN LONGER which is legitimately insane.

10:50 "no they're not good for the environment" yeah, they actually are. A vehicle that can be driven for 20+ years is far more efficient than one that lasts 10. People don't realize that half the pollution a vehicle produces is done during manufacture. It's even longer with EVs (I think it is like 60% or 70%)....more pollution is produced during manufacture but less during operation.
Don't let the fanboys fool you: EVs are NOT "good for the environment".
Tyler's the kind of guy to drive around a Dodge with one tow mirror up, and one tow mirror down
I would argue because they last a long time they are good for the environment :)
I have an 08 avalanche with 200,000 on it, runs and drives great only problem is a large dent in the rear quarter. Local dealership chain offered me $300. I told them I would literally rather give it away to someone in need of a vehicle. Now they call me at least once a week asking if I'll reconsider their offer.
Okay next Cartrek, The Million Mile Vehicle's, Ed needs to find one, you & Freddie already have them, it's Ed's turn now, Rj in Oz
Yeah, a million mile Merci! 😆 Of course Ed will find some loophole to trade something to be able to claim that "this is JUST like having a million miles on this Merci....."
Great to see it hit 1,000,000 I wanted my Jeep Cherokee to hit that milestone but sadly rust belt rust did it in at 543k the body was gone.
Still awesome, mine has 207000 and sometimes I think I should sell...still runs perfect and just starting s
Little rot at bottom of doors.
They’re better for the environment than an EV or a new vehicle that will never do a million miles and have to be replaced more often - especially where EV’s are concerned.
Any sufficiently designed motor and body should do a million miles. A battery might need a replacement but the used battery is rarely unusable in some other use (such as storage)..
Can't believe it's been a year.. A 1,000,000 mile Dodge is pretty amazing! It's worth just keeping for a work horse.

a car that lasts a million miles IS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY! all the energy that went into making the truck didn't go to waste.
Couldn’t agree more.
If you put that in auction I bet it would get some interest. Collectors wanting it as a conversation piece.
Something that lasts a long time is good for the environment too because people still aren't learning that production and transportation of new vehicles takes a big toll on the environment, if just 5% of new car buyers switched to buying used it would actually help emissions go down alot
Lots of people would if Obama hadn't made us destroy so many good ones.
That's because it's never been about the environment.
I don't get why companies make new cars and manufacture it every year it's a waste of materials instead they should take the approach from Amazon and actually order the car then they can make the car simpler and better for the environment
There is nothing better for the environment than a vehicle that lasts 4 or 5 times longer than a normal vehicle. The most efficient vehicle is the one never built!
It's worth keeping after being fully sorted, and ready for another million miles. I bet it'll do it too.

I'd take it!
I had the 2003 Cummins too! They are expensive to repair though. Back in 2011 when I bought it, it was $800 and $400 each time something went wrong with it.
The parts are actually pretty affordable unless it’s a major component like fuel pump or transmission, the labor might be expensive because it’s a heavy duty truck
Note to self: Clean the windows before I film a new episode.
Wait a sec this thing is extremely great for the environment! 10 lifetimes of a V6 turbo gas truck. Think of all the resources saved! And the incredible amount of environmental destruction it takes to get the materials for an EV truck! and I bet those batteries won't even last 200k! This may be the most "green" truck on the road!!

And I am impressed with my £700 Toyota Avensis getting close to 250000 miles after seven years of being used as a work horse.
I'll give you 1500
Well my 78 dodge power wagon probably has million miles on the truck itself.i just changed the leaf springs, they where original.so many things are original still.dodge tuff.only drive my MOPAR..
Those work vehicles make the world go ‘round. To be real. If you have everything sorted on that truck and it can haul like you need it too, 17k isn’t that bad of an investment. You couldn’t get a comparable truck for 17k most likely.
You can get another used diesel with a lot less miles for 17k....
Well WHAT is the ACTUAL difference in ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT between that Diesel Pickup that just did ONE MILLION miles, and could probably go further, and when scrapped MOST of the metal/plastic is probably recyclable or reusable?
And the ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT of an ELECTRIC TESLA, that probably won't make it as far, and will be 'toxic' to dispose of?
That's very impressive. I want you to know I care and hopefully the manufacturers of vehicles will get back to building cars and trucks with reliability in mind, because they have already been going the other direction even though reliability is what most people really want. I'm not willing give up reliability (very expensive parts that need extra maintenance/difficult to replace) for 1-3 mpg. Simple & reliable, this is an opportunity for a car company to gain a large reliable following of customers.
Politics and government policy are also in the way. its a shame
The problem is, trucks in the purest sense are supposed to be designed for businesses (like the one Hoovie described owned before he bought it) to do truck-type stuff. When a company like that oil parts supply company buys a truck like this, they're buying a tool for their business that they're relying on for it to do work, work correctly, do what it's designed to do, and do it reliably. Until the last 20 years, most American-made trucks did that. They did that because the companies understood, that's what people buy trucks for.
Today, they have lost their way. Forget that you can get a truck for $100k with heated/massaging seats and quad-zone climate control, even the "base trucks" have overcomplicated engine designs for emissions and fuel economy. Back then, truck were exempt from meeting the automobile regulations. So they built them to be reliable. You can't have reliable and computer controlled - you pick, one or the other.
@@dannykelly3617 I agree
Carmax:
Dodge ram with 1 million miles? We'll give you $1500
Also Carmax:
2014 Ford Fusion SE with 95,000 miles: $39,946 (plus $1700 destination fee).
The environmentalists should care and love this. The more miles you do and the older the vehicle gets and you continue to maintain it well, the better it is for the environment - certainly way better than the standard 'junk it after 10 years and 50,000 miles' stuff you normally see
You mean like every Chevy Cruze?
That truck going 1 million miles definitely offset alot of the carbon footprint just by lasting, EVs have a huge carbon footprint before the even drive because of lithium mining for batteries.
They’re really good for the environment! If everybody kept vehicles for this long, we’d still have v8’s
The reason we don't have V8's is because V6's are just as or even more powerful than a V8 when you consider the weight reduction aspect.
@@nielgregory108 how do you figure that?
@Hoovies Garage :
For the roughly $17,000 that you have invested in that truck, you better drive it all the way into the ground and then some.
You paid far too much for it from the get-go, and then the money you invested in it after all the fuel system problems made it a complete waste of money all the way around.
The only person that'll ever get any value out of it is you, at this point.
If you're worried about the little bit of rust on the body, don't be. Until there are structural integrity issues with it, there's nothing there worth sweating over. When the time comes, a rust free southern truck bed is cheap. Once that bed finally gets all crusty and shot to hell, just throw another bed on it & keep rollin'.
Best thing about that truck is it's essentially a non-emissions rig. Thus, it's worth fixing and rebuilding forever.
The manufacturers can keep their overpriced, inefficient, unreliable government regulated crap that they're producing today.
I absolutely despise our federal government & EPA, as they have single-handedly destroyed the diesel engine market in the USA, costing EVERYONE money. People just don't see the bigger picture of what they've done to us all, economically.
Thank you for dispelling the myth manufacturers care about million mile vehicals in most cases. I have had three that I million miled, as I drive a lot. The dealers I bought them from were excited and bought them back for advertising. But the manufacturers couldn't care less.
They have to give you an offer, however they have rules on year and mileage that sends cars like that straight to auction, so they give you a super low quote since they wont sell it to a customer.
That’s amazing. Nice to see how cars and trucks can go over 1M miles and keep on truckin. Thanks for sharing
I wish Tyler had just left the display on odometer mode instead of switching to trip. The truck went 999,999 miles and the one moment in time that everyone would want to see is not displayed. 🤷🏻♂️
