Hi mate I from Ecuador and I was having trouble with my 4wd ligth, thanks to this video I was able to fix it my self and it's working properly now, thank you and good luck! 🙌
Another impressive repair. It is great to see how you diagnose and solve so many unique and different challenges. I was also impressed to see you had an o-ring kit. Great work Buddy!
ahhahahah good 1 Paul, yes got the kit and most of the o-rings, trying to find somewhere to put them is the problem ahahah thanks bud, 8 deg at the camp 5 am this morning and Dorion still leavings a trail of destruction; good for me though, lots of downed trees and we can clean them up on our same permit!
Thanks for showing this, my 4wd on the 2005 suzuki grand vitara would not engage front wheels - cleaning off the hose connections inside the assembly, like you did, and cutting the fraying ends off of the hoses fixed it for me. Saved god knows how much, so thank you!
@@hunt4fish that's awesome, that you got so focused that you made a video :) I discovered that it wasn't working when I wanted to take my son hunting for the first time and I got stuck in some pretty simple mud, hehe
@@Mikkel-Hansen Yeah, the rig not much good till you hit the 4x4 then it can tear up some serious mud 4 sure! Not many rigs out there that good unless it has a Willy's Jeep name attached to it!
Tnx S..Hard to have to reach into the pocket to get the money for a part all the time eh? Usually if something is manufactured it can be taken apart and looked at then tossed if you can't fix it and like this time u see something as small as an o-ring can bring part back to working again......luck!
Thank you so much. I have a blinking 4wd on a chevy Tracker which even a mechanic couldnt diagnose. I think I'll taking my actuator off one weekend and have a look. Luckily though, even with the 4wd light flashing, the 4 wheel drive does engage at this point regardless but I don't want it to stress that actuator and finally break it.
Mine locked in as well but only seemed momentary; as soon as strain came on it it would most times slip out of 4x4. This fixed it for good so far.....there is a little switch on top of the transfer case as well that activates the actuator as well that gives trouble sometimes....... thanks for feedback!...take care
yes, thanks for the thumbs up! It's like this, even with the "upgraded" internet and wifi, still have very slow upload speeds where it takes all night to upload a less than 10 min video...... we are still in the Twilight Zone here lol. unreal!
Great job! I have to do this to my 03 Tracker. I'm not crazy about it press fit cover on the pump. That is probably the reason for the rust forming inside the pump.
Yeah, ole Betsy is still good for more kms yet I hope. Those little Trackers are good rigs if you look after them. Yes sir parts are expensive 4 sure, no way to keep up with it now eh........thanks 4 looking

Also, did you reseal around the wiring? I took mine out and cleaned it, could not get the square to be flush all the way around, and when done it flashed less and not at all w/vehicle stopped, and would not light when I took out the differential side hose. I cleaned and reused the rings. I suppose now I have to now use new rings and find a way to seal the square.
@@hunt4fish Definitely I would have assumed that it was something major and mechanical. Hi nice repair job however I would like your help to get my Suzuki Vitara to engage 2H rear wheel drive I must say it goes 4H and 4L very well but not 2H and as you know 2H is for everyday driving the is no air lines coming from the actuator to the gearbox I am not sure we’re to start …. I need to get it going it’s our transportation to go fishing my son I
Should be 2 rubber lines from the pump to the actuator inlets. hoses should not leak. pump should come on when you engage 4WD momentarily when lines are connected and green light dash should be on when in 4WD off when not.
my grand vitara actuator wires were all broken off so i spliced them but now pump wont shut off will always run can u tell me on the actuator itself what colors go with which one on the connector thnx
if the pump runs continuously there is something else wrong it should cut out anyway! Take off your hoses and check them for leak first most likely that problem. you can turn on the pump manually with new toggle switch as well so when you want 4x4 flik switch.
No, I bought a kit full of o-rings and picked out the ones that fit. main thing is that it's sealed. RTV Black silicone should also do the trick as last resort! Thanks for looking at my video and comment!
@@hunt4fish Aaaa I understand if at some point you have a measurement, could you help me with that because I have the same problem and I don't want to disassemble without knowing which one it is, thank you for your excellent video 👏🏻👌🏻
Sorry, as usual I took the o-ring kit and just picked out the size without looking at it and installed it with a wee bit of grease on it. Thanks for feedback, really glad it helped, Take care !
hello, how did you detect that it did not work correctly, I have a similar problem, but it works, it turns on the light when I manually connect the actuator of the 4x4 but I have to move it, then it does not turn off, apparently it works but it does not close the air, making it not connect the dashboard light when activating the transfer.
The little pump was leaking and when the trainn came on front axle car jumped out of 4x4. I don't completely understand your question, sorry. The pump and pressure should always be there as long as it's in 4x4 mode; when shing out of 4x4 it just deactivates the pump.
Yo tuve que conectar ese motor directo con un switch universal porque no me llegaba la señal para activarlo pero ahora problema que tengo es que una de las lineas no succiona y la otra solo avienta aire , que podre hacer en este caso??
that sounds right to me, make sure they go in the right spot, one out and one in, and if there is a leak in either the pump will cut in and out and will not stay in 4x4! I too put a universal switch for the 4x4 to activate the little pum. The switch on top of transfer case was also rusted but can easily be fixed as well; that's another video! Thanks for comment and good luck with it. Where are you from?
No, la tracción delantera no funcionaba y la luz no se encendía en absoluto. Las juntas tóricas en el actuador fueron el problema, ya que funcionaban desde entonces. Gracias por mirar y comentar
Much the same......check with pressure gauge see how much you got coming out of pump, think around 7 lbs per sq in> about right they leak after a while and also rubber hoses could leak
98 tracker is the wrong generation. Everything on the 1st gen trackers was mechanical. If your 4wd wasn't working on that it'd be because of a mechanical failure point, not an actuator :)
@@idegen24 The actuator @hunt4fish is talking about is a small vacuum pump that operates the front differential on 99+ track-kicks. The transfer case of track-kicks in that generation manually locks just like your 96. But the front differential has a vacuum actuated locking ring that'll engage the front axles. You see, that generation came stock with "auto-locking hubs," which is a fancy way of saying the front axles always spin until the front differential locks the ring and spider gears to the axles. On your 96, you have to manually lock your hubs. So, no, you shouldn't have an actuator for 4wd: if you manually engage 4wd and then manually lock the hubs, it'll be in 4wd whether or not the light comes on :). The light is just a little button switch that disengages when you pull the transfer case out of 2wd
@@FatBat5k if I understand right. I have auto hud lockers or manual hub lockers. If that so, I have auto because for sure I cant turn anything at the wheels. Wich means I have no vacum operated front diff? The reason why i am asking because at 4wd the front left axle seems like turning on and off. Randomly kicks a big. I think if I change them for manual axle hubs, it will solve the problem. But I dont know If i have vacum switch at the diff, can i still change the axles for manual hubs or it does not matter at all?
