  • One of the best things about fishing on the beach in South Florida is that we ALMOST never have to buy any bait because we have gotten very good at catching our own! In this video, we will give you an overview of what you will need to be able to show up to the beach and expect to catch your own bait to start catching big fish. From pilchards to silversides, crabs to sand fleas - we will start showing you the meal ticket for success!

    Learning to throw a cast net was a game changer for me. So much more fun to hit the beach with live bait

    Great info. I want to start catching my own bait but I think I'm going with a sabiki rod. Throwing a cast net is a little intimidating to me...lol!

      Ah ok. Gotcha. I understand. Check out some of the videos we have coming out soon on “how-to” throw a cast net. Throwing a 4K’ net is actually way easier than people think

    Excellent video. How about shrimp? Looked all over and never find an answer. How can you catch your own shrimp with a cast net? Like are there areas where you can go early in the morning with low tide, catch a dozen or 2 and head over to the pier or jetty.

      Thanks for watching. Shrimp are only around in the late winter early spring in So Flo. It’s usually at a full moon. Can’t really rely on catching them

    This may seem like a dumb question but when you say 5-6net is that the overall radius or is it from the horn

    • @watchyourlip3209
      @watchyourlip3209  5 місяців тому

      That is the radius which is the distance between the horn and the lead weights

    Great info. Can you recommend what type a net and size to get please

      Thanks. I would do a 6’ net with 1/4” holes for netting bait on the beach. It doesn’t need to be fast sinking

    Do you need to have a bait fish endorsement on your license in Florida here in Vermont you do
