Stop Getting Snagged while Fishing Structure! (EASY SLIP FLOAT RIG)

  • Today, we are casting out live shrimp on a float fishing rig to target speckled trout, red drum, black drum, and anything else that will bite. Using live shrimp on a slip float rig is one of my favorite methods to use in this area. It helps me avoid snags by not fishing on the bottom and the live shrimp provides nice natural action that the fish can’t resist. Have you tried this method before? What do you think?
We are fishing at this small creek in Jacksonville Florida. The fish of choice at this particular spot is speckled trout, but I wouldn’t mind seeing what else I can catch. It’s a bit windy, but Erin and I are ready to have a good day of fishing! What kind of fish do you like to catch on a float rig?

These are small floats ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU recommend the package is smaller than my hand just to provide perspective. That said I wanted small floats for the times I need to add one when trout fishing or fishing for panfish. The peg is perfect for my application where I want a set hold point that is quickly adjustable and want to be able to add the float without retying. That’s the real advantage here. You can add this float to your line without retying and adjust the depth easily with the peg so it won’t kink your line like a traditionalit. If I need to set this too deep then I’d switch over to ait with a thread stop to make casting easier. But like I said, these are a great value for the price I paid. Probably better suited to applications where your depth is 5-feet or less for the sake of casting.

yeah but the thing is hes using a 1 oz sinker that can cast very far, and that type of float can handle the weight and still work

That float rig is deadly. I've tried using it on the jetty, once you get your depth right, it's non stop action.
Thanks to the Skipper for sharing.

This is the way everyone fished on Georgia's coast in 70's and 80's. Float-Hi-Glo floats, trout sinker, Kahle hooks and live shrimp. Fill the cooler, no limits!! Strike -Zone in Jax is the best! Enjoyed the video.

This is my go to rig when fishing on the jetties. When that float sinks, i do an easy pull sometimes to make sure i let the fish chase the bait back or set the hook gently, then when i feel the tension thats when i start reeling.
