I would suggest that you detail out all the plans and sell the plans as a starter. THere are a lot of us do it yourselfers that would pay for the plans. Just a thought.
I invent and build stuff like this all the time. Been doing it for 50 years. This is well thought out, robust, and an attractive , uncomplicated design. Thanks for the inspiriation.
That was probably the best pull out bed system I’ve seen for the Tacoma by far especially when it comes to camping,
yea pop up table on gas struts for more counter space looked awesome
I agree.
How the he'll does that taco pull all that extra weight lol
ua-cam.com/video/K-K31ZB1iRY/v-deo.html
...for any pickup, like my 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 8' bed.
I've been a builder for 45 years and I must say, that's a very well thought out, highly precise, ultimate truck drawer build I've ever seen.
If ever your in Central Oregon, I'd love to check it out..
Nice, but it is lacking an adjustable support leg. You are asking for big trouble not supporting a long leverage arm.
I do see you standing on it to prove a point. Don't be lazy. Install a support leg. It will then look complete.
@@robertcornelius3514 good point. It does look incomplete without your opinion to add support.
@@nightb4thestorm , my mentor is Ron Swanson. All things made need support.
You only need a leg if you use shit hardware. shs and bearings will hold up just fine.
If there's a competition for overlanding drawer system, this would definitely take the gold medal. The best I've seen!
Best set of truck drawers I’ve seen on you tube
Absolutely not in any life can I ever imagine letting myself get locked in that drawer hahahaha great build!! 💯
Simply unbelievable! The best use of space I have ever seen. Thanks so much for sharing! 👍
Great well thought out work. I love it when excellent craftsmen share their skills and ideas. Hope you have many happy experiences with your system.
Those struts for counter space was mind blowing, amazing build
BEST PROJECT DOCUMENTAION I HAVE EVER SEEN. LOVE YOU DRAWER SYSTEM..
That design is pure genius! Well done.
Hello everyone, and thank you for your interest in this little creation of mine! So far I have had 8 nights of winter camping usage out of this setup, and overall, it's been amazing. In testing, I have come across a few things that could use improvement in future versions, and I'm sure I'll find more. At this point, I'm still too stoked on adventuring to confine myself to my shop, and I have decided to take this summer to give it a thorough test with some offroad test time. I will be returning in the fall to build a number of improved versions for sale, and that number will be determined by your interest! For those truly interested, please email me at sam@kampdrawers.com, and I'll include you on the mailing list for the fall. Note: I will only be building drawers to fit 2nd and 3rd gen Long Bed (6') Toyota Tacomas. No custom work. I'll most likely post updates in the form of adventure vlogs in the meantime. Cheers!
Great build. But I think I died when I saw you get put away in that drawer. (gasp, i can't breathe).
No short bed (5’) bed version??☹️
@@davehill7484 That would be the next phase. I realize that the majority of Tacomas on the road have the short bed, so it would be worthwhile and relatively easy for me to adapt it at some point. Or I might build a few of both this fall. Depends on interest!
What about the plans ? Can we purchase them ?
Lmk thanks .
Where did you get that wedge ax? I've been looking for it for a while now. Didn't want to bug you with something I could find with a basic google search.
Most professional DIY system I've seen. Well done man
Very well executed and thoroughly thought out. Great job.
You should definitely bring your idea to market!
Yes, I want one! Exactly what I'm looking for.
Hi Peter! Give me an email at sachou@gmail.com
Very impressive, Sam. Detailed thought process. And pretty to boot.
Man. That drawer system is dope as hell
Absolutely outstanding! Hope to use some of your ideas when I build mine. Kudos!
The skateboard bearing idea was great. I'm probably going to steal that and tell my friends it was my idea. Thank you.
Talk about innovation. Heck of a set up man. Just got my Tacoma a couple days ago. and I’m excited for the adventures ahead.
I am needing one and I really like how you did yours. It's what I've been looking for and you did a great job!
Dude, this is the most legit setup I've seen yet!
Hey Sam, greetings from a neighbour just north of the 49th!
Fantastic job, VERY nicely done. I am duly impressed with the attention to detail and to the finishing touches. As stated below, coming from a bloke who has been building stuff for decades, this is easily one of the best set-ups I have seen.
If they ever open our borders, p'raps we will meet on the trail somewhere
Stay safe, be well....
Best home made system I've seen, nice work!
My decked system wastes a ton of space. Great to see someone with a solution that is actually smaller and finds ways to fit more things. Super cool!
Nice job with the drawers. I've truck camped for a long, long time and I think the drawer sleeping platform is the best I've used. Adding a tarp or Slumberjack off the end of the bed makes a nice large dry area.
You cleaned up with this one! Well done! Looks fantastic
That is exactly what I want for my '03 Tacoma TRD Offroad , Excellent design and build.
I really liked how you designed and built this. It will last a long time! Good job.
Best build I've seen. Good work!!
Excellent! One of the best! Brilliant design!
Thanks for sharing!
Great craftsmanship skills man. TW thread is amazing. I am currently building GFC style canopy, once done - will sure start working on my drawer system. Had in mind to have 2 drawers - one is pull out kitchen, second one is just for tools/recovery gear. Cannot wait to plan out my project and get to it! Thanks for inspiration!
This is super cool. Very very well done. I will be saving this video to keep in mind when I build mine.
Very well thought out and solid build! Thanks for sharing.
great job, love the ball bearing and steel tubing glides and lower half draw holding the cooktop.
There are some gold tier ideas in there man. Fantastic work.
Absolutely amazing job! Needs power and water!
Thank you! Power is in the truck topper where it's needed, and water is along the bed rails in a Waterport pressurized jug!
the pop up shelf for the win!!!!
Good build well thought out. I like the bearings and square tubing.
My first ever comment on a video, I am totally inspired and in awe of this excellent build, and 2 very well put together video's. My Volvo XC70 wants the same.. Well done Sam!
great job ! I took the lazy way out... Overlanding !!
Very nice setup. Good use of space and designed well.
I just got so Claustrophobiac!!! Great build.
Awesome job. Really cool. I watched the build video 1st. I am impressed, and glad that you made this follow-up video.
Great craftsmanship. Good luck
Fantastic design and build, you gave me tons of ideas for my build. Thanks!
Really great job!!! I love the features. I also watched your video of the build. Great job on everything. You should definitely make this for others. I plan on making one for myself in the near future. Again, GREAT JOB!
At least you know you can smuggle a body to the middle of nowhere if you have to.
Seriously... I like what you have done with your drawer system. For my DCLB TRD OffRoad, I have been designing a system with two 4 foot drawers allowing me a 2 foot compartment at the front of my bed where I can mount a pair of smittybilt air compressors and a pair of 2.5 gallon air tanks plus related plumbing and electrical for an OBA system forward of the wheel wells, I plan on putting a pair of "house batteries" and behind the wheel wells, I am just going to have storage compartments with removable lids. I have long used a chuck box for camp kitchen, but I may have to swipe a few storage ideas from you.
Very nicely done.
Nice Job Dude!
Covers everything you need!
Good job! I like the use of skateboard bearings.
Super clean and well built...nicely done.
'Great Job', very impressive, and as others have stated that your project is the best one seen, and I totally agree!
Wow! Love it! We want something like this for our tiny camper
Good job! Thanks for sharing your build!
Best build I seen yet!
Cutting board is genius!
Really sick man. I can appreciate the planning and design this took. Nice work. I'm subbed 👍
Tnx for showing, love the hole setup
best one I have seen need one for the suburban I'm starting
Great build. Ive been using skate board bearings for over 35 years. Much better than drawer slides strength wise. My old work truck tool drawers were almost identical to yours. Im guessing mine would always have about 200 lbs or more in each easily. I only used 3/4" ply though. Other than that and your locking latches they are pretty much identical. GREAT BUILD keep up the great vids!
Yes, please. Recently moved into a highrise apt. No garage of my own to do a build. Brilliant build there. Thanks for showing what's possible.
Send me an email at sachou@gmail.com for details, thanks for your interest!
Just beautiful work! You are so very talented.
This is the best low profile drawer set up I’ve seen and you still have plenty of room to sleep in your camper
Nice simple build. Very useful. Well done.
Inspiring me to build one for my 91 4Runner. Thanks dude!
Love it! I have always wanted a "go-kitchen"!
Excellent build.
Nicely done, pretty tight design.
Really cool setup! I like it because it would be pretty easy to remove as well. Alot of peoples setups are nice but they are almost permanent on the back of the truck. Nicely done!
Excellent job. You checked almost ever box for me.
This looks super solid nice work man
I think you did an amazing job! Two thumbs up!!
Well done man, I recently made something similar but much simpler, was looking for ideas and scrolled across this, makes me want to redo mine lol. Good work!!
Dude. The pullout for the stove? Genius.
Super cool. I love the guest room too.
Excellent job, very well thought out.
I dont have a tacoma, but am looking for something like this for my Ram. But I will say that was the best ending to a video that i have ever seen!!!! lol
Great job dude!! Thanks for sharing. Some inspiration for my own rig.
Holy cow. You did it right. Love it.
Really nice build! Planning something very similar for my Tundra. The custom slides are a great money saver since those run $2-300.
This looks like a great match w/ some add ons for my Silverado! Doing a lot of research for the best options.
Great job Sam...impressive work.
Very well designed and built. Wish you the best in your buisness venture
What a well though out system. Good Luck to you!
Square tubing and skateboard bearings is super smart solution.
Great build! I’ll definitely be emailing you about purchasing one for my long bed Tacoma, thanks.
Well thought, You must be proud of your realization
Love it sam best i have seen i have a 5 foot bed tacoma
Awesome design!!
Very awesome! That's very similar to what I want for my truck. Ideally, the storage and kitchen drawers would be a tiny bit shallower - maybe with a height just enough to fit the camp stove. Then, on top of this I want individual full length bed slides for each side. The slide over the kitchen would allow easy access to storage items like camp chairs, luggable loo, fire pit (or propane pit depending on the location and season), etc. The slide over the storage drawers would have the fridge, solar power generator, and propane tank(s). All this would have to fit in between my total chaos bed stiffeners. No need for sleeping platform in the bed because we have an RTT. Also thinking of making mine out of 80/20 for some weight savings and because I don't own the tools for working with pieces of wood that large.
Sweet build!
I like the led strip lights on the camper shell glass!
Amazing work!!! It is a work of art !!!
That's awesome your hired! Need one for my f150
Sweet setup!
Very cool set up!
Excelent D.I.Y camper. Very inspiring. Congratulations. Cheers from Brazil.
Terrific design and construction, Sam. The quality is first cabin. Thanks! Now... a couple of drawers for the Rubicon...
Good job Sam 👏🏽 👍🏼 👌🏽
