  • When farmer Niyi Balogun moved from Nigeria to Maryland, he knew he wanted to keep farming. But as a recent immigrant to the United States, finding land was a challenge. With the help of his wife and business partner, Tope Fajingbesi, they found the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve. Here, 93,000 acres spread across the county have been set aside for agricultural use. A nonprofit called The Montgomery Countryside Alliance helps connect farmers like Niyi to landowners, which allowed him to start Dodo Farms, a one acre produce operation that grows both familiar items and traditional Nigerian crops.

    I am so proud of this family. They made something beautiful happen. I would love to be able to have a small plot of land and farm on and live on. I live in Maryland and am happy to see the positivity.

    Thanks for sharing this gem. I need to find a similar program in neighboring Prince George's County. We gardeners take so much inspiration and learn from one another, no matter our origin!

    I couldn't be more proud of Niyi & Tope if Dodo farms. They are a real and shiny example of so many values and lessons. Honing ones craft, not giving up on dreams, proper research, problem solving and team work.
    I only wished I lived in maryland to enjoy their produce. Many thanks to the Montgomery county for establisheming policies that support local farmers and the community.
    Thank you for the feature and for shining a light on our stars.

    So many different ways to use pomegranates. I know your family loves to taste test all your new recipes. Your videos bring peace and happiness to my heart and your dog makes me laugh all the time. Thank you for sharing yourself and your family with us. You give us much more than we could ever give you. And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.

    This family has a far sighted insight. Why not form a community and help the homeless in town to start something wonderful in their life rather than wailing for their ill fate?

    Access to land??? Did she meant for free??

    • @soinda87
      @soinda87 2 роки тому +3

      Yes or no. Coming from Africa where everyone has land for generations could make someone frustrated. Land free of tax too and without restrictions.

      Anyone with money has access to internet anything in America, so why she as for easy access to land, sounds like asking for free to me. She did not pay for the land .
