Glad you enjoyed Zeta Wing! I certainly had fun creating it! So 2019 I was at #6 in your Top 10, 2020 at #5, perhaps I can do better in 2021. ;) 2021 should be a good year (I hope). Soul Force will be out, and working right now to get Briley Witch Chronicles done ready for a 2021 release. Got plans for another vertical SHMUP too, but can't say much about that right now...
Soul Force looks great , I love a good shoot 'em up but Briley is the one I'm most looking forward too as I'm a big RPG fan and like I say in the vid not many people attempt to do this genre now so it's something a really wanna play and looking out for 🕹️👍
As a child I played many games on C64 in the 80's, jumping then to PC DOS in the 90's and learning programming in the 2000's. Even though I'm sometimes delighted by the graphics, effects and possibilities in nowadays games, I have an understanding of how they are made (by hundreds of developers in many cases). But looking back at C64 or PC-DOS games, I'm still amazed and mind blown by how talented these people were and are, with so scarce resources, no big teams (usually 1 man/woman army!), no support of any type, no libraries, engines nor tools...! Thank you for another excellent video Bastich 😊 I have just bought the digital copy of MW Ultra. I am playing catchup with your videos at the moment. 😬 Thanks again.
I love these videos because I'm so attached to my old classic favorites that I would totally miss out on these if it weren't for guys like you, and your production value is awesome. Also a lot of what you value in games seems to parallel my favorites, so I value your opinion. Your South African accent also puts a very distinct stamp on your videos, so your style is unmistakable.
Thank you for all those previews! I could use your help naming a game I saw when I was really little. My brother thinks it might have been on the C64. I remember it being a sort of adventure game RPG where you walked into caves and needed a torch to see inside and gather loot or supplies... and had to assemble a trap to catch a spider with a cage, string, and balloon, etc... What is this game?? :D
I play and try out new C64 games almost every day, but it looks like i still missed a few awesome titles. Thank's for the update Bastich B, your video's are amazing mate. One question : Is Flying Saucers already a full game i tought it was a preview?
LOVE your channel Bastich! Would like to know how you connect uer C64 to monitor, as your video is way better than mine! Yer hardware setup PLEASE!!!! 🙂🙂🙂
If you capturing footage directly from your real C64 without any mods the footage generally looks terrible on modern tvs and cell phones which is what everyone watches the videos on . I simply use a C64 Maxi which has an HDMI output or Vice on my PC to capture footage . I only use my real C64 to play games casually and it's not used in capturing or video productions .. the realistic loading times alone would mean I never make any videos 🤣
Thoroughly loved Millie and Mollie and found the puzzles brilliant. Vegetables Deluxe is also a great release (19 or 20?) that makes for some fun casual play.
I dont agree that Atic Atac uses the typical C64 style graphics. The game uses hi-res mono overlaid graphics and not the low-res blocky 2x1 graphics, which is the reason that there is never more than three enemy sprites on the screen at a single time, when on the Speccy version there can be up to five.
I simply meant that as typical for a new C64 game as these are all new , over the last 10 years or so this hi res style has been used a lot for C64 games that's all I meant .
I see you have the C64 version of _Roadwar 2000_ [1986; Strategic Simulations, Inc.]. Do you have all the docs, all the manuals and things? Can't find any .PDFs nor Kindles or anything on the Web, and I've scoured it pretty good.
Thanks for this list. I went out and got your number 1 the shadow over hawksmill. I’m stuck on the game though anyone know what to do with the gauntlet or sunstone? I just got those after using the metal lever.
Hey BastichB, can you help me find a game I played on the C64 once? It was a disk game, and it started you off on an overworld that was top-down and you'd walk around there. Then you could enter various locations and inside that, it was side scrolling. I think you had to kill various things like ghosts, ghouls, vampires, stuff like that... I don't remember much more besides that. It was a good 25 years ago! Haven't been able to find it since. Any suggestions? :)
@@BastichB64K good try, but nope! I remember in the overworld the player character was smaller than in Spirit of the Stones. Meanwhile, the inside side scrolling part had "higher quality" graphics - they kinda looked more detailed and better drawn. The sprites too.
@@BastichB64K hmm! another good try, but nope! it was more in the vampire/ghost/monster world than a wild west world. also, I remember the side view (level) was not scrolling left to right like eg mario, it was scrolling both ways and more of an arena you seemed to enter and then leave. also i think the overworld wasn't rectangular grid, it was parallelogram grid, i think. so you saw things face on but then they extended "to the back" along a line skewed to the right.
Ok, I have to ask about our host's accent. The channel states he's in Canada, his accent generally sounds Aussie (or NZ?), but his long-i vowels seem taken straight out of the U.S. South. Can someone clear this up for me?
I like the ports that the Commodore 64 received like Atic Atac, King's Valley, Keystone Kapers. Ever tried completing the final level on Keystone Kapers? It is nuts and very hard, I am good at the game and can rank up a very high score but that last level is crazy.. Wreck It Ralph (Fix It Felix) is fantastic. I have always liked a quick pick up and play game Arcade style..
