There's a way to legitimately use Audiophile Tier Headphones on Xbox Series/Xbox One. And this has gone unnoticed for years.
You need the Turtle Beach Stream Mic.
This is the only fully compatible Desktop Mic for Xbox One(and Series thanks to forward compatibly).
If you connect a amp, like The xDuoo XD-05 Basic(Set to AUX mode) for example, to the headphone aux port in the mic; You can use any headphones in the 300 ohms range(IE: DT990 pros or the Sennheiser HD600) on Xbox with no problem
Nothing connected to your controller since this is all USB powered. But you may need a USB hub just in case.
Please Note: Finding a TB Stream Mic cheap is NOT easy right now

This is a must video, specifically for xbox series x/s users because most people are using the optical cable for audio and not hdmi. This video should be a big hit. I almost started researching a replacement for my 5.1 logitech z906 which sound great but has optical and not hdmi. My only question is how good is the sound quality for 5.1 audio systems as opposed to a headset that you used. You may want to update this video demonstrating a full speaker setup with it.

I have a major problem with this solution. The problem is that the audio extractor is not to spec with HDMI 2.1. It is not capable of utilizing the 120hrtz frame rates. Im sure eventually someone will make a 2.1 hdmi audio extractor but even then, you will lose the adaptive frame rates due to the processing involved with extracting the audio. All of the extra performance that the new Xbox is capable of must be sacrificed for good audio. Them not having an optical port is extremely frustrating. I understand maybe the series S not having one but the flag ship series X should.
I appreciate that there are people like you that also care about good sound. Thanks for posting this video.

Believe me, I continue every day to look for one hdmi with 2.1. When I finally find one I will be sure to let everyone know and review it. But I can say that the audio staying rich and full can really make the issue of not having 120hrtz an after thought for now. Also sadly there are not that many game that will reach 120. The gaming console make will need a year to catch up with the tech.

as someone who’s a diehard 2-channel audio purist, this workaround disgusts me.
    shame on you, Microsoft ..
using HDMI as an audio source is already inherently terrible. things get even worse whenever your TV is tasked with separating the audio signal from the video signal and then outputting it’s own separate SPDIF signal. furthermore, adding another device in the signal-chain in the form of these HDMI extractors is even worse.
why TF would Microsoft flip the bird to everyone who cares just a little about sound quality. they need to allow for all external DACS to be recognized over USB

    1. Buy a Dac (like topping e70)
    2. Buy a amplifier (topping l70)
    3. Now you can go 2 ways ,
A , OPTICAL audio out of your TV/ monitor
    B. 3.5 MM output of your tv /monitor and you have to buy a 3.5mm to 2x Rca cable (left .right , Y cable )
    5. Connect optical audio from TV to the dac and the dac to the amp
Or the 3.5mm to rca cable
    6. Plug the headphones in the amp
    Enjoy !
Optical is better, any TV or almost any has the optical audio output

Hey gadget fox im not sure you'll see this but here goes nothing
I need an upgrade on my headphones ,the best possible quality there is for the Series X hopefully with virtual surround sound or if possible real surround sound, that's my goal.
I try to guide myself to buy the best quality gaming headphones ,but i cant distinguish between good and great with the info im given, as all this is all new to me .
i planed to get a studio headphones for sound and a stand alone mic to speak and not settle with probably over priced gamingheadphones, but i dont want to buy really expensive 1000$headphones and it turning out be the as effective as a 400$ headphones cause the series x isnt really that advanced, so im stuck trying to make the best decision without knowing what to do or where to start.
Your video gave me a rough idea of what i should do for better quality but im still a bit timid on trying this out without asking first, what do you recommend for me to do to get the best for the series x in term of audio?

I truly wish I could answer your question with confidence. The logic is sound but I do believe the device is only capable of 60 hrtz regardless. I am currently using a 1080p monitor with 120 hrtz but I am only getting 1080p 60 hrtz from the devise. I am looking every where for one that can reach 120 hrtz while still offering the optical cable option. I ll be sure to let you know if I find something.

I guess this would only apply if you’re using a monitor because most TVs even older ones have optical out. Obviously if you want voice chat this is not the right solution but people are freaking out about Sony and Microsoft removing the optical outs and I just don’t get it. The only thing that bothers me is that Microsoft doesn’t utilize USB chat and audio like the Sony machines.

Not to be mean, cause I respect the hustle, but your audio needs work, homie. Your mouth noises are way worse than they should be because of something you're doing with FX - I'd suggest revisiting your EQ.
It sounded pretty good when you were going over the first DAC, for reference. You might just need a high pass filter to get rid of some of the white noise, but you'd be set after that.
Other than that - fantastic video, my man. 🤘

I almost agree with you. You'll miss out in many of the mentioned features of the new Xbox. If you have gotten a chance to play cyberpunk 2077 you'll see that the features still can't be supported. All new games frame rates are jumping from as low 18 to maybe over 60. Only if you have a monitor or TV that support hdmi 2.1. But have great sound can always override visuals.
