- Van Life is al about leaving the comforts at home for a life full of adventure. Moving out of our apartment and into our van full time was tough. After endless crying & many goodbyes it was finally ready to leave Charlotte, NC. It has been our home now for more than a year and we will always miss it. Now we are moving into our van and shipping it to Europe for a 2 year road trip. We are so excited to bring you along on this crazy adventure

It’s hard as a traveler/adventurer sometimes - Just because you love to travel doesn't mean you don't attach to the people and places like anyone else. I cried the same way when we sold our last house.

What an exciting adventure you guys have ahead of you! and I totally understand Ana's feelings about leaving. I recently moved from my first apartment I've had on my own in the USA back to my family in Australia. I'm here for a few months before I travel around Europe too (only for a few months though, and not in a van 😂) but I get it. Super excited to see more of your travels and curious about how the van holds up on those small, windy and narrow european streets! 😦
Ahhh thanks so much Rachel. Right! It’s so hard leaving your little slice of home no matter where in the world. Tracking brings about so many obstacles but we all know it’s 100% worth it. How did you like the US? We can’t wait to visit Australia one day and maybe ship our van 🤪
@@ian.and.ana. Loved the US! I didn't necessarily want to move back, but my visa was too limiting and I couldn't do freelance work while on it...which means relying on only one stream of income + not being able to earn money while travelling :(
Oohhh, that would be cool to ship your van to Australia..just be aware customs in Australia is EXTREMLY strict, plus shipping anything here always costs an arm and a leg (I miss the convenience of everything being affordable and available in US a lot) but I'm sure you guys will work something out like you did with europe! so cool!

They are less authentic
If that's a Dodge van, good luck with that. I'm in the expediting business and Dodge van require a lot of repairs. Mercedes are probably the best but very expensive to buy and repair. Ford's also have their issues. It all depends how many miles you put on a year. Dodge's have issues with headlights burning out frequently, transmission issues, various sensors going bad, engine problems. I've talked to owners of these vans, some have good luck with them, others have not so good luck. If possible buy an extended warranty, and save you money for possible repairs frequently. I wish you safe travels.

Our old ford transit connect was rusting because it was from cleveland with all the bad winters. In the end we drove to 200,000 miles so I would say that’s a huge success with that sort of car. We started having small problems when we got to 180,000 miles which is understandable. I would get a Toyota because those cars last forever

Ahhh we are so pumped to share it all with you Dan!! Tbh that’s one of the hardest questions. We have been thinking about it so much lately. Of course we love the nature and opportunities on the West Coast but East Coast is closer to both of our families. Both our families are in Cleveland, OH and we would love our kids to be close to their grandparents. North Carolina might be the perfect spot for us because we made amazing friends and loved the weather, nature, cities!
@Ian and Ana Sounds great, I've lived in Charlotte since the 90s and love it too. (I used to have an apartment on Morehead right across from the Y next to the light rail so I especially enjoyed today's video.) If I move out of Charlotte, I might look for a place in the mountains near Asheville to be closer to nature and my favorite hikes. I would love to get a skoolie or a van like you've got someday to spend more time out west too.

That is a great decision, but offcoarse a difficult one. To leave your nice appartment and city, but life is short. You have to make the most of it. Please come for coffe, if you pass by Copenhagen 😊
