Thanks, I've done a few of these and it's always an adventure with the abnormalities of the lids.

It's hard to turn down custom requests like this! They can be a fun challenge!

Looks great. I feel that it will look a lot better as it ages so those little inconsistencies don't matter. My OCD would want to tweak the size and placement of the bottle and lower the stethoscope ever so slightly but that's just me and my obsession with white space. 😅 No big deal.
Good stuff - I definitely need to add a CNC router to my arsenal, sooner rather than later. 👍

I agree that in this piece, the small things will only add character in the long run. Having a CNC router does open up more options in the workshop! I’ll be sharing more with the cnc routers soon!

That’s awesome! My dad and I are working on a barrel top and are struggling with getting the design to be centered on the barrel top. Any suggestions?

I use Vectric to set up the cut files and I set the job origin to the middle of the artwork. Then I find the center of the barrel top and set the CNC's origin for X and Y there. As for finding the center of the round object, there are some tools and or math and measurements tips on finding the center of a circle you might want to look up that will be better at explaining it then I can here. Just watch out for glue in the lid, they are not glued together when used for Bourbon, but some resellers will glue the panels together and some of that stuff can be very hard.

BOSS just came out with a dual lasor/cnc.
    What do you think?

I'm not a big fan of trying to make one machine do two different things well. You usually sacrifice something for one or the other functions. Lasers and CNC router machines are similar, therefore it's not hard to make one do the other. But a CNC router needs to be rigid to maintain precision while countering the forces put on it by moving the bit through the material. This often means it's got more bulk to it and that tends to make it operate a bit slower. Lasers like being lightweight and able to move the head quickly for engravings. So when you put a laser head on a typical CNC router machine, you generally give up some speed. You also have the issue that they'll never share the same zero point. Even with a programmed offset, there can be discrepancies. So you'll still likely have to re-zero the machine when switching from router to laser. Finally, CNC routers create dust and that has to be dealt with. The laser heads do not like to get dirty so I can only imagine the maintenance for using both would increase. There are advantages of one machine taking up less space than two separate machines, but you can also only run one at a time. I think I'd stick to the separate machines unless I'm forced into only having one.
