(Just going to say, i Operate in Algarve, these videos are shot in Porto, which is a major metropolitan center, Porto and Lisbon have Special Designations and Operating Procedures so things may differ from my experience)
for those wondering...
Red Ambulances - Operated by Firefighters
White Ambulances - Operated by the Portuguese Red Cross. **
Yellow Ambulances - Operated by INEM *
Hybrid Yellow-Red Ambulances - Bought and Owned by Inem, but Operated by Firefighters.
* INEM - Instituto Nacional de Emergencia Medica (National Institute for Medical Emergency)
NOTE! Some White ambulances may actually be firefighters, these are rare to see in medical emergencies though, as most white ambulances are dedicated to Clinical Transport (for example, taking an old man back to his home after a hemeodialisis) and never respond to emergencies, unless they encounter one on their transport route.
SBV - Supporte Basico de Vida (Basic Life Support) This is the regular ambulance, no specific identification
SIV - Supporte Immediato de Vida (Immidiate Life Support) This is identified by the SIV Mark on the sides
PDT - Ambulancia Pediatrica (Pediatric Ambulance) This is identified by the INEM Mascot on the side and rear doors.
Most White and Red Ambulances are simply SBV, whilst SIV and PDT are operated mostly,if not entirely, by INEM.
**Gonna be totally honest, i've never seen a White ICU Ambulance, they don't even show up on our training books either, and i haven't the slightest clue why its in white and owned by Firefighters, unless its a really fkin old one, as back in the day we did have white ambulances in firefighting departments (at least, as far as i can think of)

@@justbenny__ Minima, Os 3 fazem parte do SIEM, ou Sistema Integrado de Emergencia Médica, ou seja, quando chamarem o 112 e pedem uma ambulancia, o CODU (Centro de Operações de Doentes Urgentes) designa uma ambulancia disponivel, que tanto pode ser uma ambulancia dos bombeiros, do INEM Dedicado, que eu saiba, não existe diferenca.

Great compilation! It would have been cool to see the police.
When I visited Porto also just a couple days ago I've only seen one police car driving code 3, so I assume they're not easy to catch on camera (crime rate in Portugal is also pretty low I think). However the police are often patrolling with steady-burns on which is worth showing anyway I think.

Hi. Yes, I went to Porto too three months ago, and I didn't see a single car responding. Sad for us that can't see police car. But, I saw a lot of ambulances responding. Maybe they have more car crash and incidents?
@@phosemonde4787 More sudden illness and general medic stuff, there are police calls but most of them not urgent and police will normaly not even use lights to respond. If you see police responding code 3 its generaly extremely urgent involving firearms, knifes, mob fights etc etc

Oh okay. Really different of France, where you see a lot of police cars responding.
@@phosemonde4787 In big cities you can find them more often such as Lisbon and Porto but you need to head for troubled areas like downtown Lisbon in Terreiro do Paço for example because there´s lots of pick pocketing and roberies, Amadora sees a lot of crime as well

It's a Federal Signal Vama siren, I think it might be a variant of the AS-600 series with a longer wail and different yelp sound

Alguém que me explique por que razão as ambulâncias na parte da frente têm o dizer AMBULÂNCIA ao contrário?
Para que possam ser correctamente lidas, via pára-brisas, pelos condutores.
@@lsvmuk e qual é a utilidade disso? O condutor não sabe que está a conduzir uma ambulância, se não o vir escrito na parte frontal do veículo?
@@miclearning5380 Nem todos os veículos com aspecto de uma ambulância são, de facto, uma ambulância. O inverso também pode ser verdade. Em última análise, com base na sua questão, nenhum veículo em situação de emergência precisaria de ser identificado.
Só agora julgo que li bem a questão que colocou. A Informação não é para o próprio condutor da ambulância, evidentemente, mas sim para os condutores de outros veículos serem alertados, via espelhos retrovisores, para o facto de se aproximar uma ambulância.

They will stop using sinusoidal sirens ? Personnaly, I love hi-los so that won't be a problem but I wonder why they change.

@@phosemonde4787 There´s also going to be a mix don´t worry guys, there´s no standards when it comes to sirens in Portugal so each fire department does ther own thing, the police departments same thing. New fleet of vehicles are rare and only come every 15 or so years specialy for the police, fire departments are even worse since they lack funds and INEM also doesn´t have standards. Everyone pretty much chooses a siren until they change vehicles
