  • This May 8, 2001 view taken at the Franklin Ave (NJ) Station on the Newark City Subawy shows soon-to-be retired PCC's arriving and then leaving the station. At the time, the line was undergoing an extension, which is the reason for the construction equipment.

    Thank you! That was most enjoyable!! Often wondered why the sign on top says "City Subway." Like, do they think someone will wonder if its the 7 train to Flushing?

    "City Subway" was one of several Newark streetcar routes. It's the only one thet survived. Perhaps no one saw any need to rename it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    I remember those trains pay as you get off.
