As the parent of a child who has just started reading the Harry Potter books (she's nine), I can tell you that your heart will soar when they start talking about it and reading it, and when they tell you about their favorite characters, and share those feelings you felt the first time *you* read the books. There is *no* equal to the pride and joy that you'll feel when your child goes on the same journey you once took into a world that changed your life.
Loved this vlog. Of course I cried. Props to Beth for being Super-Mom and letting you have this experience.

You should write a message to Luke to include in the book. If you don't want to write directly in the book, write it on a paper and stick it in the book, but if you write it on the front cover he can never lose it and he'll have your message in you're first book to him 💛❤

As soon as I saw that book, I started crying. I knew it was for Luke. You’re such a great dad, J, and this honestly makes me super excited for the future when I have kids and get to share what’s been a gigantic part of my life with them. We love you like crazy.

I sound crazy but this vlog was one of the most emotional experiences I’ve had all year (I mean the year just started, but still.) I lived in London for a few months when I studied abroad and it kills me how much I miss it. I went to every hp location ben and J went to and more (except for the HP exhibit at the British Library because it wasn’t there) and getting to see it all again... dead. I’m also so grateful they showed us some of the exhibit in the vlog because I was so jealous that other people got to see it. So I was super emotional, and then J got emotional at the end.... ugh I’m just a mess. Thanks J

In England we call 'elevators' lifts. And in previous videos every time they are in an 'elevator' they say "just two guys in an elevator!" And are really happy when they say 'elevator' but this time they said lift and sounded sad because we call them lifts and it doesn't work.

It got so emotional at the end I almost cried.
You made me cry, J. That is such a beautiful thing to do for your son. Also with the vlogs he can actually go back to see what you originally said to him. This is soooo beautiful and why you and Ben are my absolute Favs. You are an inspiration for me. To go after my dreams and try to do what I love for a living. To not just settle for something. And to help me get through the rough time I had this past half year. When I see the joy in your and Ben's eyes in each and every video, I sit there and think to myself: "I want this. This look on my face when I do my job." And when I feel that little sting of envy I remember that you worked hard for it and that I'll need to do the same, but it also gives me the heart, courage and strength to try and work for my dreams. So thank you for everything, J and Ben. And also Beth, for being ok to share your lives with us a bit. It gives me hope and the will to find the happy way through life.

I really liked the bit where you were talking about the lighting situation in the hotel and the "just two guys in a LIFT" part and the Seamus cameo and the history of magic exhibit looks really cool especially the cauldron. But the best bit was you talking about Luke and reading the Philosopher's Stone to him. You made me cry. You are both great parents and you are taking care of each other (which is really important) as well as Luke. Love you all and Love all your channels x

I'm Not Saying Shove It In His Face Just...Nudge It A Bit. Start By Using Harry Potter As A Bedtime Story And Giving Him Small Harry Potter Things (Like The Wand Pen). Once He's A Little Older,Then They Can Let Him Watch The Movies,Buy Him Harry Potter Costumes/A Hogwarts Cloak,Take Him To Harry Potter Events Ect. All These Small Things,Starting From When He Is A Baby Will Add Up To Harry Potter BEING His Childhood. By The Time He's Old Enough To Understand Any Of It,Harry Potter Will Have Already Been Such A Huge Part Of His Life That He'd Never Be Able To Really Let Go Of It (Even If He Actively Tried To). Plus BOTH His Parents Are Harry Potter Fans,So That Alone Will Help Make The Series Important To Him (Even If He Decides To "Rebel" Against It,J Alone Seems Like He's Be Such A Awesome Dad That I Doubt It Would Last Past His Teen Years,Before He Decides That The Series Is Such A Huge Part Of Him That He'll Never Out-Grow It. Much Like The Rest Of Us). Baby Steps.>;3

I was so hoping they would say "lift"! Didn't disappoint.
My son had a pretty rough go of entering the world, a lot like your son Luke. If you EVER need somebody to tall to, I'd love to listen. I'm not a UA-cam creator, but I can't tell you how much your videos helped me get through hospital stays during my pregnancy, labor, and an emergency C-Section for my little man. Seeing what a great father you are (and what a great mommy Beth is) is so refreshing and inspiring! My husband and I are very proud Potterheads (a Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, respectively.) But we love all things Disney, Star Wars, Potter, Pixar, name it! Thank you both endlessly for making videos. You seriously make hard days so much easier. (Also, my little.boy had to do breathing treatments and LOVES watching your videos while hooked to his nebulizer. Haha.)

I'm English and a lot of stuff you found confusing I did as well. We do have decaf coffee, that was definitely mint tea and I've never been to a hotel where you use you door card to turn the lights on. 0_0

I've been to hotels where the door card activates your lights, but I think it's usually the more lower-upper scale hotels that does that? Or it could be a particular chain of hotels owned by a single group?
I've only been to London once, 12 years ago and the hotel/light situation was not like that, but now I live in South Korea and most hotels that I have stayed in here in Asia have either lights/key cards or actual keys that you have to turn into the front desk every time you leave.
Almost every hotel i Europe has the door card for electricity and lights. Maybe not the super fancy, expensive ones ;)

Awhhh J!!! The love and bond you share with Luke is something incredibly special and something you need to hold onto for the rest of your life. He is a beautiful little boy and you're going to create a lot of happy Harry Potter Memories together i'm sure! Luke's going to be the greatest Gryffindor the world has seen; not to mention he's awesome parents to guide him on his journey! :D :D :D

I'm so excited for you and Ben to have been able to participate in this, but I'm even more excited that you were able to get that book for you and Luke. I hope he grows to be as much a Harry Potter fan as you are! I started crying along with you and I don't even have tiny humans to have triggered it.
I think you may actually be a Gryffindor, because it was so brave to post that ending. And I love you for it!! Never be ashamed or embarrassed by your emotions where your child is concerned. Luke and Beth are blessed to have you, and you them.

When he started crying while talking about sharing the Harry potter world with his son, it made me start to cry! My boys will be 15 & 17 this year and I still tear up from when they were born. You are already a great dad- it only gets better from here (until they start to talk back to you lol )!!!

No!!!! 😢 you started to make me tear up when you talked about getting the Gryffindor edition of the Philosopher's Stone. I think its so awesome you wanted to inaugurate Luke's (eventual) first time reading HP with that edition. He's going to appreciate it so much! I was totally extra & had bought all 4 house editions if the Philosopher's Stone (even though im a Hufflepuff) lol! Im a collector 😊 I think its so cool you had an opportunity to visit the History of Magic exhibit in London & work on a project for it. Im from NYC & the History of Magic exhibit is coming here i think in October this year so I cannot wait for it. Looking forward to the next vlog!!

That whole thing about the trip not happening if Luke had been born on time...just goes to show you how certain things happen for a reason! Not to say that the trip was worth all the hardship of Luke's early birth, but sometimes things just work out regardless of how hard they were. Idk...it's hard to explain, but I know what you were getting at in the video and I understood and thought it was pretty awesome!

Believe me, it's awesome to share Harry Potter with a kid! My 10-year-old read all books in about 18 months and she is so enthusiastic with it. Having a Potter-themed birthday party soon. It's going to be something!!!

I'm not crying, you're crying. My son is your age and my daughter was a teacher when the books came out. She found out about the books and my son and I read them together sitting in my bed. Sharing this world with your son when it was such a big part of your life will be so special, Jonathan. I love seeing how emotional you are about it. My youngest grandchild (girl, age 10) just started reading the first book and we were talking about it at Christmas. It was so much fun seeing it through a child's eyes again. I'm so jealous that you guys got to do these tours. My son, his son (boy, age 14) and I were supposed to go to Disney World and Universal last summer, but COVID ruined our plans. We were so excited about the trip and so devastated when we had to cancel. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was so high up on the things we wanted to do. I tried so hard to find a copy of Philosopher's Stone, but it seems that I can buy it here in the US. If you know of a way I can get a copy please let me know! I want all of the British books as I have all of the American books and would love to see the differences.

I've already been to London and i recognize some of the stuff in this vid!
When I explain my love for Harry Potter to my boyfriend (who unfortunately wasn't able to grow up alongside Harry Potter himself), I always get THIS emotional about it. There's just something (magically) amazing for those of us who grew up with this series, and I am so happy to have gotten the chance. Watching this vlog made me so so so happy! Thanks for sharing the experience with us!

oh J. You touch my heart. I'm 60 years old and a huge Potter fan.( it's my nephew's fault) But when I was a girl I read A WRINKLE IN TIME. I was 10 and it changed my life. It made me a reader. I've read it to my sisters, to my daughter, to my granddaughter. I've given and recommended it to countless people. My sister teaches 4th graders and she has her class read it every year. There is just so much, so many layers.
I don't understand people who don't read. They miss out on so much.
To see how you are so looking forward to sharing this marvelous work with your son.... well ... I know how you feel.
